I continue to play because : 1) I love warships of this era (550 ships in my WoWs collection) 2) I play only operations and modes like asymetric battles
I really like operations, problem is, I'd rather play against real actual people. So yeah, operations is amazing, or would be, if you could play against people instead of bots. There is a ton of potential there to reenact well known WW naval battles, and it would be a ton of fun, but yeah... bots, not fun.
Most of the time I feel the same. Occasionally I like to play against real people to remind myself I am a good player and it's not because I am a crappy one that I enjoy PvE exclusively LOL.
I play it because it’s fun and I like the game even if it is frustrating sometimes. A game can’t be perfect, so be happy for what is in the game. It has stunning graphics and game mechanics, you have hundreds of ships to choose from and progress.
I enjoy it too, it's the best warship game out there. I don't over play it though, often only login to collect the daily login & sometimes have a game or two every few days. Gets annoying playing the game 24/7.
And god damn aim bugs, that absolutly annoy the everliving shit out of me as a bb main. But when you dont get trolled by these aimbugs and rng, its really fun most of the time.
My next birthday makes me 70, and for the past few years mainly played in the coop just for fun, what I have noticed now camos have changed to permanent and you can no longer sell them they crop up as a reward everywhere? and don't get me going on how much free xp is handed out, it would not be that bad if you could use it to purchase the odd ship as in the past, all designed to get the player to part with real money, I do my best to support the game with the odd purchase now and then, that said I did receive over 10 ships from the Santa containers but other than those aimbot bot subs I still enjoy playing.
I am not sure about permanent camos, but you can still sell regular camos by clicking on your username in the top left corner of the game lobby, click on Inventory, and click on the Camouflage tab and it will let you sell the non permanent camos.
@johnhooton8299 I somewhat enjoy playing the coop game. I do my best to not spend any money in the game, because of the appalling way wows run the game. One act of deliberate cheating deception by wows was enough for me to form an opinion on the "goodness" of the administrators. They might have pulled out of russia, but they have a distinctly russian flavour of population mind control. They have grossly abused many people that donated lots of time to the game, and their response to bad player reactions to decisions is to shut down forums to limit visible dissent, shutting down what was a very valuable player resource demonstrating their contempt of the cash cow they "serve". It's a crying shame that a better organisation doesn't run this game.
I play wows because I enjoy it. I have been a scale model builder for over 50 years. Here I have the opportunity to drive around the ships virtually. I'm not a good gamer, but I can live with that - the main thing is that I enjoy it.
i play because of coop, operations and asym, those are the only reasons to play the game. players actually play to win, they have fun, they talk to each other nicely. i refuse to play randoms because of all the try hard sweats thinking this game is only about stats. playing for stats ruins the game because player do not play to win when playing. they play so they can go in discord and brag about being "gud", then ridicule anyone whose stats are lower than theirs because "stats".
I'm kinda new so I've stuck to coop to grind stuff. I don't care about stats that much, and I don't want to ruin someone else's. You can play _any_ ship you want, and try ridiculous builds just to see what happens.
If folks mind their manners in chat, (more or less) nobody's perfect, myself included..... But keep it down to a "dull roar", we're good. BUT...... Those folks that want to rag on you for your low stats, or guys that get REALLY out of line, get tossed in the "Iggy Bin".
Although I kind of like the asyms, playing against the bots in the game doesn't do you any favors when it comes to playing against real people. I don't care about my overall stats at all, but the fastest way to progress in the game is to play random and clan battles, and you are rewarded based off of combat performance. So being able to perform well in the pvp parts of the game will have you progressing faster and getting items and ships that people that only play against bots will probably never get.
Lol, I play to win in randoms but truly the red players are making me question things, they seem to be willing to lose often enough. Because you'd think by the law of random if they really had no clue (and they don't), they'd be making the right play some of the time, but often enough they make the worst decisions after another in a row. Also, people in the modes you mentioned don't play to win, I've seen plenty that are also equally clueless. You seem to not understand that stats is by far the best indicator to see if a player is good and plays to win or not. I think it's crazy how you blame people that "stat shame" when I use it to get my point across when I try to give out advice against toxic players or people that make huge mistakes and they start to trash talk me. So yeah, if I told you not to push that flank, or not to smoke up there, and you did it anyway proceeding to blame me afterwards for your own mistakes, and you're a 48% winrate player I will rightfully so bring up stats in that conversation. No offense, but from your comment and the way you speak of these players, you come across as one of those ignorant arrogant players who thinks they know the game yet have 47% winrate in randoms.
I'm autistic, special interest is ships. I love the ocean. It soothes me. It's extremely difficult to learn how to play against other players for me, so I tend to spare the players who actually know what they're doing and stay out of stuff like Ranked, Randoms and brawl and what have you. Stick to Coop and Ops... though, I just got G.K. and been having a blast in asymms. If I do find myself working up the courage to go into randoms (Which is extremely rare) I'll let people know I'm a coop main and that I'm willing to follow directions... but no one usually responds so I don't feel bad for my team if I don't do well (in that context). They had a chance to tell me where they wanted me and what they wanted me to do but didn't. I'm a BB main, it's just so thrilling to land a cit and see that big damage! I've been very dedicated to this Dockyard, I absolutely adore the Wisconsin for her "Temper, temper" incident. I've bought two stages like I needed but aside from that I've been grinding the stages. Currently at 14!
As with all the Dockyards, I don't see the point in timegating it unless their goal is too catch people near the end short of the goal, forcing them to finish with doubloons. Submarine ping indicator is still way off target and very inaccurate.
I will be one of these potentially, the last few weeks are very busy for me with work and travelling abroad so no chance to play therefore I either pay up or lose the ship for a couple of phases.
It is a generous amount of time though, you get two full update cycles (10 weeks) to complete the missions. Which can be completed in every mode except the training room. At a minimum, your average Joe should be able to acquire the WV’44. Of course they would like players to spend money on it, that’s why the last handful of missions do crank up the difficulty (even then these aren’t impossible by any stretch of the imagination, you just have to specifically go after these missions in match vs just playing the game as normal). Mathematically you can spend up to $80 and still be coming out FAR ahead with what you get in return (a TVII premium, TX Premium, and ALL the rewards from the phases). It’s a more than fair system imo, and LEAGUES better than what you’ll find in most Free to Play games nowadays
I would prefer the Dockyards to be completely free but the construction of the ship to take several months (only if you play, if you don't it stops and gets going again when you play). You'll have to be patient, your hard work by playing better would accelerate things up (the more XP and the more Creds you earn, the faster it gets completed). That would be the perfect system. I'd prefer to wait 6 months for a ship to be completed than having to take the last steps with my money. Sometimes though when you don't play much, the game gives you free Dobloons to lure you in, usually I use those to start a Dockyard with the steps I need and I can finish it for free by playing. Having spent no money whatsoever and just used WG'd marketing tactic to pay for me... I have completed at least two ships that way, but as I haven't played for nearly 16 months, I don't know if it is still possible to do that.
Because I am a grown ass man and I'll do what I want. Sometimes I play Everyday, sometimes I play once a week, sometimes I don't play but a few times a month. It depends on how I feel and how I'm playing. Once it's not fun I stop playing. I won't grind myself out the way I did on WoT.. funny thing is it's the same way I play any of my "grindy" games. War thunder, Enlisted, Elite Dangerous, all of them.
The grind mechanic is fun only in small doses if not overdone, it gives you some sense of accomplishment. In WoWs it's overdone though, to the point of either you will pay a ton of real world money, or you are forced to grind in an overdone way which is not fun at all. Which is a shame, as WoWs is a really _really_ good game.
You can get it but it takes a real effort and a lot of games, especially if you don't pay much money into the game. From about mid way through the dockyard it gets much harder, and I am not just talking about the tasks. I have done it several times now and noticed that things like almost all my hits become ricochets or non penetrations. Hits on my ship get very fierce. Scoring even 50k damage in a game gets hard. You almost always end up in the badly beaten side and very little for your efforts. My opinion is they want us to pay for the last few steps to get the big prize. The game very much looks after the big spenders, spend big money, your aim gets much better and you are mostly on the winning side. Spend little money and you get very little for your hits and constantly on the losing side. I have been up and down with my spending and my game matched each time.
New player perspective here, I could write a book but I'll spare the internet. The game is fun while the new player bonuses are going. They really load you up as a new player, I was able to grind up to the colorado in about 2 weeks of playing 1-2 hours day and bit more on the weekends. Around when you get the the colorado things start to drag down though. I was able to grind an iowa class ship after about 2 months but by now my new player bonuses are all spent and gone. Game is a predatory f2p drag at the high tiers and I don't think I'll be keeping this game installed for very long. I do like your channel and style though. Found it while trying to find videos on how to play certain ships.
All that aside, the fundamental problem is that the battles lack variety. Randoms, Ranked, and Brawls are simply routes 9 out of ten times. I am waiting for Task Force Admiral to drop.
I barely played over the weekend. Got sub 30k base xp in the Tsurugi event and ended up with 8k ish place in the leaderboard. That means there's like 10k somewhat active players in EU region. That's not a lot.
I think not every active player has subscribed to this competitive event. If not wrong, Tsurugi was able to get from some bundles during early access of Jap BCs and that ship wasn't great. Subscription to this event doesn't correlate to active players number well.
@rekslegiune6004 Pommern is never wrong for BB and Black is pretty good. Best bang for your buck in coal are the special commanders in my opinion. I’d get Lutjens first. No matter what class you prefer, he buffs the entire German tech tree.
I have days where it seems like matchmaking is against me and it is absolutely miserable and then I have days where I'm having amazing games so it pretty much evens itself out for me.
I play because: 1) to me its still a fun warship based arcade game that doesn't look stupid like most mobile warship games 2) in a less graceful reason, anime was a big one. As a watcher of Kantai Collection, I like getting my favorite irl modeled DDs, subs, cruisers and battleship based on the characters 3) Me and my friends play this game like how we play War Thunder. Dont focus on grinding, goof around, do silly things and make fun memories. Dont take the game seriously (probably why teams dont like us but oh well) 4) I just like warships, especially late war ships and U-boats
I never really stopped playing entirely, I just hop on occasionally for a few days, and then stop when I feel like it. Feels fun to blow up enemy ships sometimes
The game hasn't lost it's charm on me, the only thing that consistently frustrates me are submarines and the matchmaking for tier 8 ships. Operations are usually fun, co op is easy, I'm decent at brawl, and sometimes I can manage to pull MVP on randoms. As a battleship main though, I feel defenseless against submarines. Despite them, the game is still fun!
I stopped about 3 or 4 months ago because I just got sick of CV ruining it. I will come back when they do asymetric battles again. I don't even join just to play operations like I used to. Maybe when they remove the CV plane spotting I will comeback to randoms and ranked. Dockyard is terrible.....you can never complete it unless you play way more than a few hours a day unless you are exceptionally skilled at the game. Most events in this game are not for casuals.
Yup I thought I can use the Asymmetric Battles just to get the WV44 totally free but noo, they have this crazy time lock on the quest ladder and when I was just 5 quest away to get her, not only they removed the Asymmetric battle they plagued me with those spotting challenges which for me is a pain to do in other modes, no wonder they appropriately titled the Dockyard stage as "Temper Temper" anyway I forced what I can and paid for the last 2 as I seriously have no time as WoW isn't the only game I play, needless to say it will be a while before I try this stunt again.
The state that it is in? A mellow, relaxing game where I can take ships out and go pew pew for a couple hours before work or bed? That "state"? Seriously, right now, Warships is all I play. Never understood the whole "They changed X and I hate it now!" mentality.
pew pew with no idea how to win, unless you luck out and get some actual players on your team. fun for you, frustrating for those that know how to play and try to win..........rather than pew pew from the back of the map while they lose.
I play (WOW Legends) because it is fun; looks and sounds wonderful on a 78" screen with theater room sound system, and I have almost 350 ships now. We don't have quite as many game options as in the PC version. Console version does appear to be cheaper than PC version if you do wish do spend some coins on the game. Also, and perhaps most important, NO SUBS IN CONSOL VERSION OF GAME!. Limited carrier presence as well in our 9 v 9 games.
Started playing about 6 months after the game went live (post alpha and beta) and so I have the entire tech tree researched at this point. I still have some ships (Graf Spee, Bismarck, Shima) that I just enjoy playing. I have good captains, lots of consumables, and sometimes I just enjoy the SLOWER pace of this game versus playing tanks or another game. Plus, at this point since I have so much stuff, it really is a free to play game for me. I make more credits than i consume so i dont need to put any $$$ into the game.
i play because i always wanted to see HD versions of the ww2 ships i grew up reading about, esp bismarck and hood, prince of wales, scharnhorst and gneisenau. prinz eugen is next on my list of ships to get since i got hood now, and then hipper, i would get graf spee if i could, ajax and achilles, exeter. the gameplay is fun and its free to play but you can support the devs with money for premium stuff if you want. its just fun to play too.
CV''s have NOT been in the game since the beginning. I've been here before the CBT. Believe me. I remember when CV's were introduced and you could run out of planes turning a CV into nothing more than a mobile sun tanning deck.
Making AA work at T10 will be a good step towards balance. Malta's planes are near invincible and hit hard. Fixing ships like Gneisenau and updating power crept ships like Zao. Adding more Campaigns. Then focus on milking whales while easing down on making silver coins hard to get. Make Z-42 a coal ship, make Malta a steel ship. So on.
I’m a navy veteran and big history nerd, so I love this game and was super excited when submarines got added. I play almost every night for a couple hours.
i still play it though each day i seem to get more and more frustrated. Mainly with subs and cv's and also the complete lack of brain power of the majority of my team mates. Each time i log on i just hope to get a game or 2 without subs and cv's, this rarely happens. When it does happen i see so many positive comments in game chat.
Interesting Video. I agree with you that WOWS have a good balance between historical (WG has really good models) and fun game play. That's quite an admission from a self declared history weenie😀.While I play mainly BB;s and Cruisers I have started playing CV's a lot (T8's) and honestly I'm not finding them too OP. They have their challenges too so I don't see what the fuss is about. I have not tried subs yet so I cannot comment. Something I want to ask you about. I have been playing the Wisconsin dockyard (As a histoty weenie I really want that ship) and I have been monitoring the late stage combat missions groups 7,8 and 9. Originally the assymetric battle mode was excluded from them. This made sense given that WG announced that the mode was going to be dropped from 13.4. Today I was looking at those stages and I saw that assymetric mode was being shown in most mission. Is this a quiet change that WG just slipped into 13.4? Be interested in hearing your thoughts. Good Video btw
I never thought I would say this but I struggle to get into (random) games with CV's so I can shoot down planes. Makes me lose days completing this dockyard mission, making the dockyard hard to progress. Damaging/sinking subs is more a gamble than before because they became more agile
The shooting down planes is always a pain. I did mine through Asym battles but it took the span of 4 days to finish it because you don’t always see carriers. I tried doing it in Ops even with the penalty to Operation but couldn’t get any of the missions that had planes to shoot down in 12 tries.
@@simonpaul1296 Yeah, I hated the change to random Ops...I used to do really well with a Ryujo or Bayern in Ops, the only time I'd play a CV anymore, then the random feature was introduced, and I couldn't plan a specific ship for a specific Op anymore, so I just avoid them.
The only issue I have with the current state of dockyard is that when it is first introduced in the PT server it's about 50 times easier to.complete that when it becomes live on the main server. For instance, scoring 50 million of anything will take some significant time to.complete even for a Decent player let alone a average player, we all aren't profession 8 to 12hr a day players with 65 to 80% win rate. The they add a 3 days delay to the next part and the unrealistic mission requirements get even more drastic. The version in the PT server should be exactly the same one just without the 3 days delay between missions. You also can take that ship offer in the PT server out, which is also in a sense not fair, you completed it, you should.be able to.give her a try in the PT missions etc on the PT server only. Once.back in the normal server you don't have it. This would.allow the player to get a feel for.the ship to.see if it's actually.worth chasing that dockyard ship
FOMO does not affect me at the moment. Currently checking my profile and playing all my ships up to 20 then 30 battles etc. Amazing the amount of ships from santa containers, dockyards, coal etc. I have rarely touched since getting them.
Have you even looked at the dockyard rewards? They are piss poor now, mostly grey bonuses and useless crap! So what its easier to get crap rewards when now you have to spend real money just to get 2/3rds of the credits and free xp you used to get free just for playing you need blue bonuses to get the same as before and you cant get anywhere near enough! WeeGee were always greedy mofos, but in the last 3 years they have become greedier than an oil company executive pushing for his Christmas bonus! the majority of the players I used to play with have quit the game in disgust mostly due to the devs refusal to listen to the community and the fact that none of the devs play the game any longer so therefore have no fucking idea of the state of their own game. they waited till the game was so starved of players that I'm getting 7v7 matches during peak server times! Add to this the rediculous prices for imaginary ships that cost them zero to produce once the design is complete. TBH its starting to make mobile games look good value (and that is obscene). I really loved the old content and gameplay it was unique among online games a true thinking mans shooter instead of the mindless twitch reflex shit from most other games. the game has 5x the content it used to have before the first cv rework but it is only half the game it used to be, which is so depressing. These days only cv players and sub humans are allowed to enjoy the game which is exceedingly stupid by the devs to only allow a tiny minority to enjoy their game! I am pretty sure they intentionally run a loss as negative gearing to offset tax paid on world of tanks because surely the devs cannot be that moronic .
I play because it's fun. I started playing just after New Year's in 2023; and from that, I think I have a different perspective than many/most players. (At least those who interact in the community.) I've only known the "post rework CVs". There've always been subs. WG was just releasing the Hybrid BBs. The game- as it is today- is pretty much the same as it was when I started. (Just with more stuff.) The only two complaints I have about changes WG's made are their being stingy with port slots since the battlepass change in December, and being a little stingy with early access ships. I got T7s for both the Pan-American CLs and Spanish CAs. But with the Commonwealth Cruisers, I was only able to get the T5. (Maybe I could've gotten the T6 if I didn't get the 10 point commander, but still.)
Myself I can see myself taking a long break once Assymmetrics get removed at end of current update. Randoms in my general experience get toxic at higher tier and don't get me started on Clan battles and brawls. These days i only play Assymmetric (which should be permanent), Co-op, the occasional operation and sometimes the special game mode (e.g Pinata , Airship) as PvP is such a total Sh#tshow full of self-entitled try-hards I don't want even go anywhere near it.
Before I even watch this video, I must say I don't have a reason to still be playing. I took most of 2023 off and came back to get Christmas flakes and was having fun. Now, not so much. I am a completionist, and I still need several T10's and 9-10 in the new fake lines so that's keeping me going. I need 2 more RB ships to finish that off and have all the coal ships. Also doing the latest Drydock, but the short answer is, I do not know why I am still playing.
I’ve come back recently after a couple year hiatus because I was jonesing for some Warship action… and I haven’t really found anything out there that can scratch that Itch. I’m still running CoOp battles atm while I get back up to speed on Controls and Mechanics, but plan to get back to Randoms and Ranked soon. While I have a Ton of Ships dating all the way back near to Release, there are many new Ships I’d like to get. Cheers! From Southeast Texas!
Same for me. Just returned and enjoying CoOps for the "chill" factor. Getting to old to care much about PvP anymore. Still play WoT if I want that. As far as progression goes, sure it's slow, but then again I'm a very patient person, so I'm in no rush down any particular line. I play what I enjoy and will unlock something new as/ when it happens.
i play because i come from a big navy family, uss trenton cl-11 grandpas boat, uss midway uncles boat, uss trepang, other uncle was a sub captain. another uncle was a seabee.
I like playing against bots. There is to much positioning in Random. Everyone should just rush in shooting and a game would like 7 or 8 minutes but it would be super fun! My only other complaint is how grindy event ships are. Like the Dockyard. Having said all of that I ready do enjoy the game!
1) Subs ping icon is way too inaccurate and it's orientation implies direction of sub, which it is not. 2) Subs got a turning buff making it nigh on impossible to predict it's position. 3) Shoot them and it's tiny chip damage each time. 4) Inflated XP they get per game. Love the game but I EFFING HATE SUBS!
Its still in a better state than War Thunder. After playing since closed beta I finally uninstalled due to the massed cheaters. Now I'm putting that time I would normally use on WT into WoWs. While it does have its problems it could be a LOT worse.
I agree 2024 has been good to this point. The Australian cruisers are good to tier IX. I have the Wisconsin. I also obtained the Sicilia which is good in asymmetric battles. Even player support has been listening.
I play because the game for all it's flaws is fun. Yes it has frustrating moments, but as a whole I'm having more fun than not with the game. Now that's not to say I'm happy with everything going on, or even everything a lot of players are looking forward to. The CV changes are... not great. In my opinion as a CV player. If everything about the proposed CV changes were put into game as they are presented, CVs would become worthless overnight. As someone who also plays a lot of Cruisers it's also very frustrating to see all the 30mm overmatch being added to the game while we haven't gotten what I would consider a good light cruiser line in a very long time. As in looking at CLs objectively, we still only really have the options of Worcester or Minotaur, because none that have come after them have even come close to their power level. CAs haven't had it much better. Really the past few years has really shown the issues with the overmatch system in general, creating a situation where people can do everything right and still be punished, by the ship class that always seems to be the ones complaining that everything is against them. So basically the game is still fun for now, but I do honestly worry about a few years from now. After we have the CV Re-work/Re-work, and when we will undoubtedly reach the point where the number of 30mm overmatching ships is 50%+ higher than the number of ONLY 28mm overmatch, and the 30mm overmatch grows even larger at lower tiers. I'm honestly calling this now, we will have a T8 with 457mm guns by the end of next year. It'll likely only have 6 guns and they will have a long reload, but it'll happen. I honestly hope I'm wrong on that. Only time will tell, I will add for those who say "I'm only playing because there is no other game like Warships" you're right there isn't. Just don't assume that if a game were to show up to try to compete, that it would actually be better. Remember one tried, it was called "Steel Ocean" and honestly it just wasn't as good. It felt(and seeing as it's still clinging to life with a global server that gets zero updates) still feels like a pre-alpha version of World of Warships. For as bad as Wargaming can be with updates, they aren't bad developers. They are just in the unfortunate position of every change they make to appease part of the player base, frustrates another part of the player base, in part because the player base has fractured and we can't agree on what we actually want as a relative whole anymore.
I quit after I felt WG lied when they said they were going to nerf subs when in fact they buffed them by reducing depth charge damage and enabling subs to turn on a dime. After that, I would become the target of two subs and would be killed before I could do anything useful. Not fun.
I play as WG is pretty generous with premium currency. You can get it out of crates, ranked battles, and even from the armoury gifts. Warthunder didn't really give away premium currency unless through wagers. You would have to do extreme things to try and get it. Whereas as a FTP (mostly - I buy some premium time when it's on sale) player, I can still do most of the dockyards from in-game gained dubs without spending any money.
I started to play a year ago. Since I never play ranked or random battle and only do Co-op I just want to see how many ships I can get. I already have over 50 ships just from doing that. Right now about a month ago I had a stupid Idea lets go through every tech tree line at tier 5 (Cruisers & Battleships) and play each ship once a day to get the xp to the next tier. Since the only ship line I max out playing continuously was Pan-American. Got my San Martin and now I felt like doing this type of grind. Some ships are garbage at tier 5 and its a pain to play them but its fine if I play the ship once per day.
I still play because I enjoy the game. And that’s what it is, a game. I work full time still until next year and even though I’m an average player, there have been times in the past where a few players were pissy because I had a bad game. Some are just too serious about it.
I would agree in the negative column is the copy-paste preoccupation with new ships; new maps would be a much better use of programmers time. However, one you forgot in the positive column is the promise of the long-awaited USS Johnston. And, compared to how long we got to play Thunderer with Dead-Eye, they're doing fixes on on OP ships at lightning speed.
My only real complaint about WoWs has to do with subs, I don't like that they break the detection mechanics and their damage reduction mechanics. They get to ignore assured spotting distance, and I find the surface ping indicator still isn't precise enough, it can still spawn +/- 2km of the sub and with how ASW drops work, you can drop right where it should be, only for the sub to be 2km away from it. I wish their ping mechanic worked like gun bloom for every other ship does, even if the ping bloom only lasted ten seconds, half that of gun bloom, it would make them at least kind of follow the same rules as other ships.
the extrinsic progression grind has its hooks in me, im currently grinding dockyard and research points spending days of my life to unlock a couple of ships , even though i know the tier X they are is a tedious snore fest to play so im largely wasting my time as ill probably not play either for more than an hour or so. basically im an idiot
this year things got a tiny bit better than what it was but we have to also remember, we were down deep in the mud so far down that there was no room for breathing, WG needs to drag the game really out to fix what they did to the game otherwise nope this game is still going down.
Well i play this game for that feel i get when i know i did everything right, and i get rewarded for it. It can be playing well and helping my team all the way up to carrying. Its the satisfaction of doing good and getting rewarded for it. Which is also why the game can seem so frustrating at times, because you know you did good but were screwed over by somethings outside your control or too broken for the game, like RNG. But i still want to play, because its a fun game to be honest, that most if the time, rewards for making good decisions
Enjoy the slow pace and warships of the era - but totally avoid Randoms as much as possible! Enjoy the Ops and Assy..co-op is a pathetic ridiculous mad rush to get dmg before game over in 2 min. Total waste of time.
Hey Sea Lord, I play Ranked, Randoms and Clan battles, i deliberately stop playing Coop because it makes you bad player, however, here is a suggestion, remove subs, CV/s and superships from randoms, ranked and Clan battles and put them in their own game mode, Let surface ships play with surface ships, I'm quite sure the community with love that , and it should not be to hard for Wargaming to implement. They can put those subs, CV/s and superships in Asymmetrical battles or a new game mode. Finally I think that Submarines are killing the game, we never asked for it and it was "Shoehorned' into the game. I would like to know your thoughts. Keep up your great Vids!!! Thanks.
"The game is not completely balanced" is quite the understatement. Several years ago grinding was a lot harder. But that was a good thing. Because it made you play lower tiers thoroughly and that across many types and nations in parallel. Then came the economics change and those bonus multipliers for credits and XP were introduced. Then they removed the restriction to have to wait for a ship and its captain until the end of the match they are in. All that led to too many people rushing one line and one line only, ending up at high tiers with no idea how to actually play the game. That in turn led to most even high tier matches being filled with way too many absolute noobs. And that is fine at tier 4, but not at tier 10. Whenever a match has an average win rate difference between teams of 3% or even higher it is basically a waste of time. And that is as annoying as it would be easy to fix. For years now I wish there was either skill-based match making or a separate game mode similar to ranked, but permanent and without leagues, just one huge ladder and match making done with a spread of a few ranks.
For it's faults, it is still playable. And like you said, WW2 ship battle GAMES (Not simulators) are rare. Also I wonder how many who stopped playing because 'the improved game is ruined' actually remember the 'old' game. WoT once did a weekend where you played an early release of the game on a special server. While it was nice to relive that memory, it was quick to see how far that game had evolved. So yeah, one or two changes people will focus on, and claim the game is ruined, but then ignore the hundreds of other changes that made the game better. That one weekend made me appreciate WoT in the state it was in a bit more. Maybe WoWS needs to do something similar. Now only if they would do something to make the WW1 half of the game more attractive for players to use those ships more...
Because I love warships and their history, especially pre missiles. I like looking at the 3d models, I like shooting things, And I don't always want to play pure strategic games like War On The Sea that require hours to play properly. It's nice to have something Arcady were I don't have to use a bunch of brain power, and just enjoy commanding a ship. I also mainly play against AI, I'm not really into competitive stuff anymore.
I play it to troll people. I was pretty pissed a few years ago when they took team killing away because I used TKing a lot in combo with XVM to ruin the game for players with bad stats.
Those new changes sound good, but they've come a little late as I uninstalled a year ago. I've been burned enough that the thought of trying to give WoWs another chance makes me indescribably weary.
I’ve been playing since open beta and still today. There have been good and bad times for the game. All games have their good and bad times. I’d say wows is in a better state than it was 2 years ago when they first introduced the CV changes. Best thing that happened in the game for me was when WG added the Vermont and she is my favorite ship. I also am a history buff so I’m glad to see more historical ships being added recently like the Wisconsin. Anyways if WG continues to move in the good direction it’s heading now it’ll be a great game.
i pretty much agree with everything in this video. i too am playing for idk... 6 years now? holy crap... anyway, my reason for continuing is the diversity between all the classes, i try playing them pretty evenly and it keeps the game from going stale on me. i have had other games that kept me going for 2-3 years, but wows is definitely king of the hill here.
I continue to play because :
1) I love warships of this era (550 ships in my WoWs collection)
2) I play only operations and modes like asymetric battles
Same here. Plus good stress relief after a bad day.
Make your answer my too
I really like operations, problem is, I'd rather play against real actual people.
I Tr to stay away from Random.
I play it because it’s fun and I like the game even if it is frustrating sometimes. A game can’t be perfect, so be happy for what is in the game. It has stunning graphics and game mechanics, you have hundreds of ships to choose from and progress.
you obviously have not been playing very long
I enjoy it too, it's the best warship game out there. I don't over play it though, often only login to collect the daily login & sometimes have a game or two every few days. Gets annoying playing the game 24/7.
@@krispycool1 1 1/2 years. Not much but I still think that it is a good game
And god damn aim bugs, that absolutly annoy the everliving shit out of me as a bb main. But when you dont get trolled by these aimbugs and rng, its really fun most of the time.
@@Lupus_Indomitus I feel that too and overpens on cruisers hurt but it’s still fun
You can use FreeXP (indirectly) to get ships in the Research Bureau.
I am not sure about permanent camos, but you can still sell regular camos by clicking on your username in the top left corner of the game lobby, click on Inventory, and click on the Camouflage tab and it will let you sell the non permanent camos.
Right there with you bro! o7 and have a happy 70th. I did! 😁
I play because asymmetric battles are on.
same for me
Asymmetric battles are not permanent?
@@deltaarykrt520 Nope
I’m here for Asymetrics too. Basically all the battle modes that aren’t random battles are a blast for me. I loved airship escort too.
Good grief! You are actually playing a game to enjoy it??
@@sealordmountbatten but they make us wait a week between each lot of missions so the time is much less in reality
It turned out I ended up with computer problems, and ran short of time. I had to spend a little to finish, since I had invested a little.
Same here, got burnt out with WoT.
I still play it because I love what the game is at it’s core, despite certain frustrations that I have with it.
Yeah the gameplay works really well even if RNG doesn't. Fun in small doses.
Been over a year, I do not miss it.
I'm a wowserholic and I haven't played for 60 weeks. My life is now much fuller. :)
The dock yard is completly useless to 80% of the average players.... no average player will ever get a free ship like this....
High tiers are a camp fest anyway. IMO the most fun is had mid tiers.
I came back after 3 years and the game is better and more fun.
There were always problems and there never be everyone fully satisfied
Me to after 5, now im grinding coal again, sadly no idea what ship to buy.
@rekslegiune6004 Pommern is never wrong for BB and Black is pretty good.
Best bang for your buck in coal are the special commanders in my opinion. I’d get Lutjens first. No matter what class you prefer, he buffs the entire German tech tree.
@@prisonerofthehighway1059totally agree with Lutgens. By far my best coal purchase
I have days where it seems like matchmaking is against me and it is absolutely miserable and then I have days where I'm having amazing games so it pretty much evens itself out for me.
cause I got nothing better to do and Im not very smart
Don't ever put yourself down, your one of a kind and just as important as everyone else on this planet.
grins
I play because:
1) to me its still a fun warship based arcade game that doesn't look stupid like most mobile warship games
2) in a less graceful reason, anime was a big one. As a watcher of Kantai Collection, I like getting my favorite irl modeled DDs, subs, cruisers and battleship based on the characters
3) Me and my friends play this game like how we play War Thunder. Dont focus on grinding, goof around, do silly things and make fun memories. Dont take the game seriously (probably why teams dont like us but oh well)
4) I just like warships, especially late war ships and U-boats
WG needs to understand that a nerf is not a nerf if they compensate somewhere else to reduce or negate the impact of a nerf.
I cant believe you are still playing this game
I loved this game...until I didn't. I wish there were servers available that played the game from about 3 years ago.
Also... that Des Moines in the battle....SO LUCKY to survive as long as it did.
dockyards require you to pay....fock the dockyard.
Yep and the "prize" at the end can't be used in ops so it makes it pointless to get. Not everyone plays pvp modes.
What keeps me going is ranked and brawl where there tends to be less subs and cvs.
@@itwoznotmemaybe don’t go charging into a triple crossfire and get burned down instantly…
Operations, coop, asym. Toxic players are the exception instead of the rule.
At the moment yes, as i dont have to play damn random battles.
So on.
Because Co-op only is brilliant!
I play only against ai. It’s short fun and non toxic.
I can’t imagine not playing the game. It is a game it is fun and it is still unique
I’m a navy veteran and big history nerd, so I love this game and was super excited when submarines got added. I play almost every night for a couple hours.
Thank you for your service! o7
You're the boggar we have to blame for the stinking subs!
i still play it though each day i seem to get more and more frustrated.
This would.allow the player to get a feel for.the ship to.see if it's actually.worth chasing that dockyard ship
i play ops and asym only , pvp modes are full of sweaty neckbeard tryhards
Because I don’t wanna sell my soul to the snail over at war thunder
(At least those who interact in the community.)
I've only known the "post rework CVs". There've always been subs. WG was just releasing the Hybrid BBs. The game- as it is today- is pretty much the same as it was when I started. (Just with more stuff.)
The only two complaints I have about changes WG's made are their being stingy with port slots since the battlepass change in December, and being a little stingy with early access ships.
I hope they add in more ww1 warships, even some pre-dreadnoughts.
I still play because every now and then you have a game that is truly satisfying, it’s a lot rarer but it still happens 😊
Its still in a better state than War Thunder. After playing since closed beta I finally uninstalled due to the massed cheaters. Now I'm putting that time I would normally use on WT into WoWs. While it does have its problems it could be a LOT worse.
i play for operation mode
Some ships are garbage at tier 5 and its a pain to play them but its fine if I play the ship once per day.
i play because guns go boom boom. i dont play any pvp, only pve related stuff like operations and asymetric.
Turns out there's lots of us that only play vs AI, it's chilled out and ops can be good fun.
I still play because I enjoy the game. And that’s what it is, a game. I work full time still until next year and even though I’m an average player, there have been times in the past where a few players were pissy because I had a bad game. Some are just too serious about it.
I play because of Clan Battles. The only reason I play in between seasons is because I'm grinding to a new Tier X ship.
Wargaming have given me like 4 months of free premium time, war thunder? ONE Day after playing the game for 8 years!
The highs and lows of the game is part of the fun. Sure sometimes it's frustrating but that makes those high points even more satisfying lol
I got too old for FPS like DooM or Call of Duty. My reflexes are no longer good enough.
Wows kinda turns into a horror game though whwn your Side on to a Vermont or shima torp wall
Broad genre appeal
the extrinsic progression grind has its hooks in me, im currently grinding dockyard and research points spending days of my life to unlock a couple of ships , even though i know the tier X they are is a tedious snore fest to play so im largely wasting my time as ill probably not play either for more than an hour or so. basically im an idiot
It relieves stress.
this year things got a tiny bit better than what it was but we have to also remember, we were down deep in the mud so far down that there was no room for breathing, WG needs to drag the game really out to fix what they did to the game otherwise nope this game is still going down.
I play it because it is fun and entertains me, I remember it is a game and not something to get mad about even with the frustrations of Submarines.
I honestly can feel ok playing, even if I lose (for example due to potato teammates), if I know I played well.
@@LoanwordEggcorn I would rather lose a close fought match than win a roflstomp
@@krispycool1 Same. One sided battles are no fun, even on the winning side.
haha big guns go boom boom peww wheeeeeeeeee. And also history, I love ww2 naval history.
Enjoy the slow pace and warships of the era - but totally avoid Randoms as much as possible! Enjoy the Ops and Assy..co-op is a pathetic ridiculous mad rush to get dmg before game over in 2 min. Total waste of time.
I play because I’ve watched my skills get better over the years. I like to play. I’ve never committed a single dollar though.
I have to say WG over the past year has done a mich better job of keeping their current players happy and make us feel appreciated.
I don't have any idea why I am returning. Probably because I like the Iowa class, a lot.
As expected, I wish I hadn't.
I forgot how much the game annoys me to no end.
i am having fun with ship not considered strong and m anage to have 60% wr and i realy think the game is overall going in the right direction
next update will be ground vehicule with anti ship missile lol
Because I love warships and their history, especially pre missiles. I like looking at the 3d models, I like shooting things, And I don't always want to play pure strategic games like War On The Sea that require hours to play properly. It's nice to have something Arcady were I don't have to use a bunch of brain power, and just enjoy commanding a ship. I also mainly play against AI, I'm not really into competitive stuff anymore.
Because it's a fun game lol
If you leave the negative echochamber... it's quite fun.
👍
Just here to Bump the video LOL
Because i got 180 days of premium in a christmas container. I was going to quit but i became a slightly better player and its been more fun
WW II ships are the coolest. Giant beasts with the craziest guns you can imagine. Why wouldn't you like this game?!
Very intuitive discussion
Random is going really bad right now and my win rate is going downhill and I just stopped
with random.
I mean, im mainly here grinding Operations for FXP to get the last handful of ships in the tech tree, then eventually research bureau ship.
FYI, Torpedo's in WW2, actually had a minimum arming distance. And still do to this day.
I play because it's still light years better than war thunder naval
i pretty much agree with everything in this video. i too am playing for idk... 6 years now? holy crap...
anyway, my reason for continuing is the diversity between all the classes, i try playing them pretty evenly and it keeps the game from going stale on me. i have had other games that kept me going for 2-3 years, but wows is definitely king of the hill here.
