    As a 42 year reloader, I have used mostly Lee products, with great reliability & results.
    I have both a Lee progressive & a Dillon progressive press.
    Both work well, but I am unwilling to sacrifice any of my attention to each step of the process, so I enjoy my single stage press & very rarely use the progressive units.
    I very much enjoy each & every step, especially the case work.

      When I first got started I couldn't wait to move to a progressive, but the older I get, the more I agree with what you're saying. I love my progressives, but when I'm really working on truly pro-grade ammo, the Lee Single stage and a powder measure are my go-to.

    That Lee Challenger was my first press. I still love it it and use it to this day. Mostly to size bullets, but also small batches of ammo I don't shoot as much such as .380, wildcats, etc. that I don't feel the need to set up on a progressive. I also still prefer to load any rifle round on a single stage. I've thought about buying another single stage from time to time, but the fact that the Challenger works and works well always stops me. I've loaded countless rounds on it and and other jobs such as case trimming or bullet sizing. There is something also just plan enjoyable about using a single stage. Watching all those cases go from fired to loaded rounds is just therapeutic. I don't always have the time to use it, but I enjoy when I do.

    • @TATVCanada

      Yes, I still use mine for all my load development. Completed loads are done progressively, but nothing beats the accuracy of a single stage for development.

    I'm lazy...I enjoy progressive reloading, but find myself using my single stage presses more and more. I really enjoy using the LEE hand press while kicked back watching tv or listening to the radio or my bench mounts for experimental loads etc. As expensive as powder and components are now...most people will not be able to feed progressive presses anymore. I sold all my turret presses, but may revert from progressive to a good turret press in the future for the previously stated reason.

      It's funny because I find myself thinking the same thing from time to time. I have two progressive shotshell presses, and I still prefer my single stage models. Never tried the Lee hand press but I know the one you mean. I don't think I've got the biceps for it, ha!

    • @hercules1073

      @@TATVCanada Yep one of my favorite shotshell presses is my Hornady 366 auto, but most of my shells of late are loaded on my rockchucker (lately the FA F-1 my son got me) or roll crimped using antique or modern tools and even love using the load-all. Occasionally for fun I use the LEE loaders for shotshells and the Herter's version which is the same tool with beefed up accessories. I love mec presses too and have owned a five or six over the years, but currently don't own a mec.

      @@TATVCanada LEE has a new turret press that's interesting called the ultimate. It uses the BL bushings in the turret and works as a 3,4,5, and 6 hole turret press. It's kind of a semi progressive turret. I looked at it closely before following through with getting another turret, but "ultimately" I decided to go with the Lyman 8 and have been enjoying it! I took the progressive off the bench and don't intend to remount it anytime soon.

      Thanks so much for the feedback, Rick. Yes I just heard my own channel name on LoB's latest video myself maybe half an hour ago; what a great guy.
      You're right about the single stage; as much as I love my turret and progressives, nothing matches the accuracy you can get from a single stage press, to say nothing of the versatility of what all you can do with it..

  • @David_Quinn_Photography

    I use a single-stage press and the way I look at it is I can get much better results than a multi-stage press, I've seen plenty of people use multi-stage and have double charges or bullets not be seated correctly.

    I like this video. I've noticed on other videos about the Lee Challenger that the press flexes quite a bit but yours is staying very firm. Have you mounted it differently to prevent the flex (perhaps used a metal plate under the bench to mount it)?

    • @TATVCanada
      @TATVCanada  2 года назад +2

      Yes; I have metal plates under the presses to increase the footprint and add stability. Additionally the bench is built very, very solidly to further reduce movement.

    I thought it was a real no no to touch the primers with hands. Is this false? I use tweezers and I'll be honest, it is a pain sometimes if I don't grab the primers just right. Doing it by hand would be so much faster.

    • @TATVCanada
      @TATVCanada  4 года назад +1

      I've never heard that. It's true some primers do contain heavy metals, but so do cast lead bullets, dirty brass, etc. Just wash your hands and avoid eating while working.

    • @wekadog7749

      I agree with TATV, and also keep in mind when using a Lee Loader Classic Kit... you don't really have much choice but to handle the primers by hand. I don't think the health and safety weenies would let the kits go on the market if it was inherently dangerous. (I'm laughing insanely at the irony of handling explosive powder and wondering about health hazards). Just my $0.01. Happy hunting!

    • @TATVCanada
      @TATVCanada  9 месяцев назад +1

      It does although the primer attachment Lee makes for it is kind of finicky. I load them in by hand instead as I don't care for it. Regarding the tool you're referring to, it's probably Lee's hand priming tool which is pretty good. Many folks seem to prefer it.

    I wish to know If the factory crimp die is necessary for .357 magnum reload. Use in revólver

    • @TATVCanada
      @TATVCanada  3 месяца назад

      It's not required to meet any kind of standards (in fact most loading guides won't even specify if a round is crimped). I personally feel like my ammo chambers and performs better crimped so I use it.
