Lake Manasarovar Kora: Done my final purification after my Kailash Kora

- After getting many blessings from the holy Mount Kailash, I decided to get to Lake Manasarovar to complete the final purification of my soul by Lake Manasarovar kora. www.tibettravel.org/
Located 47.6 kilometers south of Mount Kailash, Lake Manasarovar is the sacred lake in Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism, and Bon.
Just like the kora around Mount Kailash, there is also a kora route around Lake Manasarovar. The total length of the Lake Manasarovar kora route is about 110 kilometers. It takes 3 to 4 days by trekking or 2 to 3 hours by driving.
On the kora route around Lake Manasarovar, there are four temples worth visiting.
Chiu Monastery is the start and the end of Lake Manasarovar Kora. Here you could enjoy an awesome view of the holy lake Manasarovar and sacred Mount Kailash together. About 43 kilometers clockwise to Chiu Monastery is the Seralung Monastery, which is also a good place for trekkers’ camping.
On the southern bank of Lake Manasarovar is the Trugo Monastery, which is 27 kilometers from Seralung Monastery. The Trugo Monastery is the only monastery that belongs to the Gelugpa of Tibetan Buddhism at either Kailash or Manasarovar.
Gossule Monastery is the last monastery on the kora route, which is 14 kilometers from the Trugo Monastery. Here you could see the pillar between the earth and heaven.
For anyone, no matter a tourist or a pilgrim, while doing the Lake Manasarovar Kora, it is a way to see the original heaven, the purest place on the Earth.
I record an old lady who was prostrating at the side of Lake Manasarovar, from which I felt the power of belief.
I saw many pilgrims doing Kailash Manasarovar Yatra in my past journeys here. I knew she was just one of them and nothing special. But when I saw that lonely figure doing prostration, I moved a lot.
I didn’t know how many days she had been walking, and I didn’t know how many more days she had to walk. But at that moment, I could feel the strong power of Buddhism from her weak body.
Just as I gave up the comfort of taking a bath at my hotel but chose to come here to have a bath, we always follow our beliefs and traditions that to bathe in the holy lake or drink the water of Lake Manasarovar can purify our souls or get rid of our sins.

I was born over there and spent 6 years with my grandmother. I do remember that I collect dead fish at edge of lake for grandmother knee pain. During that time, there is no road for vehicle around Lake. I remember during full moon day you can see strange and unbelievable things happen in the lake. One of my biggest dream is to visit there once before I die. Since I am in India and its pity hard to visit tibet due to political reasons.

The Legend is that Rakshasthal water is the sweat of Ravana who wanted to pull Holy Mt Kailash to his kingdom, Lanka. In that laborious exercise he failed to move the Holy Mount, and the lake is formed by his excessive sweat - hence the salty water

But I'm still curious as to the difference of the two lakes' salinity given their proximity, from a scientific standpoint, mind you. Maybe I can google it. Ok, Google knows everything. Turns out that Lake Rakshasthal has no outflow. Therefore, the amount of minerals builds up and causes the lake to become more saline. Whereas Lake Manasarovar does have an outflow, and it actually flows into Lake Rakshasthal. As long as the amount of fresh water from glacier melt that keeps flowing into the lake is in balance with the amount of water that flows out of it, it will keep it's primary fresh water qualities. Interestingly, the two lakes were once one large lake but due to tectonic processes two small hills built up between them causing the lakes to separate.
