      What I absolutely love and realized about the ending on my second playthrough is that when Kuwana walked away to the end of the hallway was complete darkness. However the later scene with Kuwana after the “anonymous” tip scene, you can see the now dark hallway now lit with light. The revelation of Kuwana slowly changing was brilliantly done. These tend to fly over my head sometimes but I was so invested that I just happened to notice. Lost Judgement is good.

      I don't think the paintball gun was the biggest fakeout in Yakuza. The rubber bullets from Y4 is way more egregious.

      I agree that the first one was weaker because it felt like it was a pilot of a tv show and this sequel feels more realized. Also I’d argue that the way Jin’s story ended feels like they’re setting up his own spin off

    I LOVE Lost Judgement so much. I haven't finished the school stuff yet. But the Main Story starts of "YAWN BULLYING" but by the end WOOOOOOOOOW. I though RK was a hint at where Yakuza might go, could still be. But what put it over the top for me was the Kaito Files/Tales DLC. It made Kaito one of my favorite characters in the series and had probably the biggest scumbag in the entire series as the Villain.

    Not only is Lost Judgment an incredibly polished game, but it somehow managed to be leagues better than its predecessor (which was already a good game itself). Most series (of any medium) struggle exceptionally hard just to make their sequels come close to the game before it, but here you have LJ both meeting and surpassing the game before it. It's kind of amazing. While I prefer playing my Yakuza franchise games as Kiryu I'll be damned if LJ isn't the best game in the franchise. It basically perfected the general formula. The best thing about this is that the games in this franchise tend to carry over all of a previous entry's improvements onto the next one, so when we finally get our hands on the next Yakuza game we can probably expect one seriously polished chunk of gold.

    I just recently discovered your channel and have been loving your Yakuza retrospective videos. I'm glad that you also made one for both of the Judgment games. They're really underrated and I hope that this PC release will bring the series the glory that it deserves. I absolutely love these games, probably even more than Yakuza. It's about time the community talks about something other than Yakuza 0 (e.g Kuze and Disco).

    Lost Judgment was a great sequel, but I preferred the first overall. Liked the story more. And this may seem a weird thing to complain about, but I thought there was waaaaay too much to do. Don't get me wrong, Lost Judgment is great value for money when it comes to content, but after a couple months playing it I was like "oh God it's still going." Must have been doing something right though because I did it all

    Lost Judgment is also one of my favorite games in the RGG canon, and definitely trumps Judgment in terms of narrative/gameplay. Unwavering Belief is also hands down my favorite boss battle music across every Yakuza/Judgment game, beating out the previous top contender Destiny from Yakuza 6. There's just so so so much to love about this game (which feels weird to say, considering the subject matter). Yagami and Co. have such a fantastic dynamic that isn't really replicated anywhere else, though Yakuza 7 comes close. It's really hard not to gush about this game, it's just that good.

    How far had you come, son, I remember starting following this channel with the 3 hours long Legacy of Kain video, thinking "great work, hope this guy does fine", and now that video has over 1 million views, and you are close to covering the entire Yakuza series, all in the span of less than a year, really curious about what retrospectives are you working on, and the future of this channel.
    Anyway, would like to know your thoughs on the future of the Yakuza series, if maybe RGG might be milking the series too much, considering in less than two years they are releasing a remake, another spin-off, and a mainline title, without mentioning bringing Kiryu back, and whatever they are planning for the 20th anniversary of the franchise in 2025.

    You know, if you are being bullied, endure. Silently record everything that happened to you. Bullies usually do things with some habits. Maybe they will bully you in the bathroom, in class, sports field, etc. Notice it and plan your recording accordingly. If you can't record video, record audio is fine too. Take the pictures of all your wounds. Record the days and time of your bully if you can. While you are doing this, start training your body. Just some simple stamina training and pushups daily is fine.
    After you collect a decent amount of evidence, I say you have two choices. First, you can simply upload everything on the internet along with your school and the teachers that didn't do anything even if they knew you are being bullied. Then simply watch the chaos unfold. Second, you can upload all the evidence online with a timer (say, make it upload during the time for recess). Then you can FINALLY retaliate when the bullies start to bully you again. Physically retaliate that is. Whether you win or lose, that doesn't matter really. All that matters is that you release all of your pent up frustrations at them. Don't do anything too violent though. You don't want to be a criminal. Then, watch the chaos unfold as your evidence went up.
    That's what I'd do if I was bullied in this modern days. In the past I could only do the violent thing lol. The bully stopped bullying altogether for me, so it works fine. I'm lucky I guess.

    Fist of The North Star: Lost Paradise and the Judgment game were my first real introduction into the Yakuza franchise as a whole. Lost Judgment alone is not only my favorite of the two games, but also quite easily one of my favorite games of all time. I've only now just started to play Yakuza proper because of the Judgment games, and am currently starting with 0.
    The moral dilemma between Yagami and Kuwana is excellently executed, and Kuwana is easily one of my favorite antagonists in fiction because of how sympathetic I found him to be.
    I will say that you missed out on one big factor coming out of the School Stories: that Boxing is the fourth style for Yagami and is not just for the Boxing portion of the Stories. I found it especially useful when I fought Kuwana in the finale boss fight since Kuwana's style is essentially an amalgamation of Yagami's Crane, Tiger, and Snake styles. So beating Kuwana with "The Sweet Science" was quite the advantage.
    Overall, this was a great retrospective into quite possibly one of the best games made in the last 10 years. Hopefully this is not the end for Yagami and company and that we can get at least one more game in the future.

    I finally finished lost judgment and though I loved the game, I don’t entirely share your sentiment on the school stories. I did like a lot of the mini game aspect of it (minus robotics), but in a future entry if they do large side content like this can they be centered around adult characters? I feel like the “how do you do fellow kids” meme is like the underlying feeling of so many of these stories.

    When Judgment 3 gets made, I think it’d be cool is they made it like Yakuza 4 and 5: multiple characters (hopefully with Yakuza 0 style character switching). Obviously, you’d play as Yagami and more than likely Kaito. And seeing as how Gaiden allowed a playable Higashi and Sugiura, that’d be cool as well. It might be difficult considering Yagami and Kaito have multiple fighting styles, but it’d be cool.

      @williamstout8252 2 года назад

      @@cryguy0000 I'll have to disagree, todoroki blow, especially as an uppercut can be done off of nothing or a dodge, without needing to counter or anything. The basic combo can turn a basic juggle into an infinite without even needing the other styles. There's also the instant ko ex action, as well as the style looking really cool once fully upgraded.

    School stories is one of my favourites in this game. They put alot of effort into it like voice acting in some parts making it more interesting than the usual side stories. I do understand some parts are abit boring or annoying for me like the Biker gang or the Robotics club, since it is hard to get through and such. But in the end it does give a sense of achievement after you completed it.
    One thing I might be nitpicky about it is the ending. After you finish the the main story, Amasawa and the MRC club were never mentioned again. I wonder what happened to Yagami as being an advisor.
    I kinda wish they could give some sort of ending to include it if you finish the school stories before you finish the main one or a separate type of ending for it.

    Hi son, I'm proud of you - Dad.
    This game is almost perfect, in many ways easily the best RGG game to date, but it's marred by some *bafflingly* asinine UI decisions. The move to permanently lock the controls display to the bottom right, in a game where immersion in a meticulously detailed world is THE main draw, is damn near unforgivable. Then for good measure, the baby-mode "Tips" popups never stop coming. Then there are the glowing items cluttering the world, which were never necessary in Yakuza for some reason. Oh yeah, do you want to roam the beautiful simulated cities in first-person like in the other Dragon Engine games? Well guess what, there is no first person view without a busy 'gadget' HUD. Taken together, these do almost fatal damage to the core immersive-Japan-simulator experience, making the game feel more video-gamey than any other RGG game while essentially insulting the player. I don't think my take on this is an overreaction, honestly. These would have been SO easy to address, but through some tragic anti-miracle were either not caught in playtesting or were somehow thought to be good ideas. This is without getting into the shamefully undercooked and tedious PS2-level 'stealth' and 'parkour' mechanics, which thankfully only comprise a small % of gameplay. I actually really liked the tailing and chase missions btw.

    My biggest issue with Judgment was that they stripped nearly all the rpg elements. No armor, no weapons, and you can't change costumes at will. Felt like all I got was parts for the drone racing which I just did not get into even though it was a neat idea. I also just have so little patience for stealth mechanics so that caused me some trouble. I keep hearing Lost Judgment is pretty good though so I'm excited to check it out. I

    Great game, Im loving it, but the beginning is soooo slow, even more than other yakuza, you fight the same group of guys like 6 times and you have to help the same person from the exact same situation a bunch of times in the same place, while being looked from other content, I think the first couple episodes from part 1 were much better.

    I played through LJ for the first time and my god, Sawa was so annoying! And when she gets unalive'd the game wants us to feel sad and shocked and has Yagami constantly going "Sawa-sensei was a victim!" like... yeah, but she also did nothing and kept information hidden just because when she spoke out she got silenced and instead of getting evidence or doing more for the students she supposedly cared for so much, she just kept quiet, hid information and was an annoying twat to Yagami at every chance she got, not sayjng she wasn't a victim, but the game wants us to feel bad for a coward who constantly antagonized Yagami

    • @cius2112
      @cius2112 2 года назад +1

      I see her more as wasted potential. I agree that her death lacked impact, you never get to know her enough to feel it and her arc gets cut short. I think they should have had her survive. Her redemption arc would be her regreting her inaction then gaining the confidence to speak out and also have her warm up to Yagami.

    Never understood why the RRG games' english dubs use the japanese honorifics. I can't take it seriously and it just rips me out of the experience. Cringeworthy stuff really, especially in the emotional scenes.
    To me it makes the characters sound like a bunch of weebs larping as anime characters in a convention, them using the honorifics while speaking English because they won't bother to learn the japanese language.

    • @zapperil
      @zapperil 2 года назад

      Because well, people, i mean the person who loves japanese dub back then, complained that dubs were too americanized and mispronounced names and the such. So they tried to make it as close as possible to Japanese dubs right now. With honorifics and trying for a correct pronounciation.
      Remember Jelly-filled-donut ?

    • @theazureknight9399
      @theazureknight9399 2 года назад +3

      @@zapperil Many other big name japanese games that get english dubs don't use the honorifics and nobody complains. You can still be faithful to the original japanese scripts while using proper english in the dialogues, just look at Persona 5.
      Honorifics don't exist in the english language, that's my issue. Nobody talks like that in real life other than weebs larping in anime conventions. It's distracting to have them in the game, at least for me personally. It sounds awkward.
      It's not a matter of americanization, you can still pronounce the japanese names correctly without using the honorifics. Again, look at other big japanese game dubs like P5. Anime dubs, the good ones, have been doing this correctly for decades at this point. The honorifics are completely unnecessary.
