While I'm definitely way out of the target audience of this board, I find the touchpad to be an absolutely amazing idea. A lot, a lot of times I find that I need to move the cursor "just a bit", and moving the hand away to the mouse and then back is very inefficient. I use VIA mapping for that now, and it works fine enough, but a touchpad instead would really be a great solution for my problem.
Tbh........ I totally agree.... LOL!! I think... Chinese and Western brains just feel very diffeerntly about a lot of things, and AM being a Chinese company are definitely not on the same wavelength when it comes to the.. nuances? of the market. Also ironically I think this would have sold way better in WKL, but *shrug* it's a great little board nonetheless!
People really hate innovation. We need companies like AM, a company that would experiment new stuff, push design to the edge in-order to keep it hobby moving forward.......
Very intresting. A neat idea for a board. Also I just got the KFA N20 Switches in today. Trying them out in my Mode Sonnet. I'm curious what'd you'd think of them!
Are you rocking a Quiet Carry? I thought thats what I noticed. Hey, I mentioned a wile ago about the Mizu Mink switches. You said you have them but they are soldered into a board at the moment. I don't suppose that you could offer a brief description of the characteristics? I'd ask if maybe you wanted to do a full review of the Switches but that seems like it might be a lot of effort. Thank you as always for your time. Love your videos and I appreciate all of your effort. Kyle
Yeah I have a waypoint and a drift!!! Try to support them cause they’re somewhat local to me. And you’re the second person to ask for a mink review so I’ll see what I can do! :)
I feel like this is AM's most reasonable keyboard from what I've seen, a lot of their boards are basically flashy absurdly priced proof of concepts but this is a genuinely interesting take on the HHKB layout that feels innovative at a price that isn't necessarily ridiculous for a high end keyboard.
7:04 had me so confused haha 😅 I don't think the board is for me necessarily, but I do love that knife you had at the start! I swear I've seen it before but can't pin the maker. Love when two hobbies of mine show up at the same time 😁
Can the touch bar be used as a mouse?I've been playing for a while a way to integrate stuff like the crique track pad and other things in boards. This location seems very intuitive.
Hi thanks for your video they great 👍 this keyboard sound good? Because I’m going to buy one and I’m scared to be disappointed because I like high pitch sound and I look muted no ?
I have a new found love for 60s but I'm a WK heathen so I can't do WKL or HHKB. I recently got shown Mod Tap and Tap Dance for QMK/VIA/Vial found on Github. It allows you to have multiple different keys bound to a single key without needing layers. For example I use Mod Tap to have my right shift if tapped it is 'up' but if held down it's still shift, I do the same with right alt, gui and ctrl for the rest of the arrow keys.
@@MakerMods I'm not sure if Mod Tap can do numbers on hold I think it's limited to modifiers as the hold. I think you'll need Tap Dance to do that, unfortunately Tap Dance doesn't work on VIA so you'll either have to use QMK or Vial. I'm not very well versed on Tap Dance so I'm not sure of everything it can do but it should be able to do what you are thinking.
I just don’t get why they didn’t add a split backaspace when they already went with the HHKB bottom row and the split rshift. It’s perfectly doable by flipping the middle switch and socket upside down. It’s a dealbreaker for anyone who really loves the HHKB and Tsangan layouts. But then that may not be their target audience after all.
If this wasn't HHKB I would have been all over it. I saw a YT vid a while back of a guy who implemented that touchbar under the spacebar in a custom build and it seems like such a great idea. Don't even have to use it as arrow keys, I would just use it as a scroll/volume slider.
I think a big part of it… is the added stuff that isn’t really a value add IMHO, like the wireless charging and such! If they took the mounting system and the touch panel alone, and added via/vial compatibility then it’d be pretty awesome. Unfortunately AM seems really committed to wireless and wireless charging keyboards for some inexplicable reason, and their AM Master software, while fine, seems really unnecessary haha

I'm sure the keyboard is fine. It's just that the marketing is a joke.

Very nice video. Brief pause and Discord notification was funny.

Well done video. Their boards are very interesting and looking forward to seeing what they come up with next

Hehe! It’s the drift by quietcarry!

It's definitely responsive enough when you drag and hold; I wonder if there's a way to assign a keyboard shortcut in accessility settings maybe?

Wow that’s awesome!!!! I’m going to check that out for my 40s, haha! Would be able to type numbers without layers

Ooh, gotcha! I’ll check it out :)
Combos are lit for smaller footprint boards too.
Discord ping had me wondering if I actually had friends who wanted to say something to me for a bit
HAHAHAH I'M SORRY!! I re-watched my video to see where it was...
Great vid and I agree that touch bar is sooo cool!
I don't know. I like how 60-65% look but I won't ever be able to use one. I need the F-Keys for my work software
I remember when 65% was rare, 60% ruled the small form factor and small right shifts were almost nonexistant.

AM is working on an optional hot-swap PCB for split BS, as discussed in the discord.

I think I know what you're talking about, the hello world keyboard by peng-zhihui
I'm not sure how to feel about angry meow astroturfing/brigrading on r/mechanicalkeyboards
Great video man.
wow that sounds good. but so expensive.
Sexy looking build, and great video
Lol discord notification at 7:05
the price tag is ridiculously arm and leg costing
Awesome video nonetheless

Can you still buy this Board?
I think you JUST missed the indiegogo! :/
@@MakerMods ok thanks will it be availebel again or is it sold out forever
No split backspace, NO VIA/VIAL SUPPORT, i stopped
totally agre on the via/vial support, but i personally dislike split bs :P KEKW

Calling it 'Interesting' is just being nice 🤢, cash grab.
