I remember playing with p9. Teferi's puzzle boxes and stuff.
Thanks Max. I do so in layman's terms for a simple and fun viewer experience. Too much technical bs interferes with the fun aspect that is "Magic the Gathering"
Not even joking here, but do you not play commander? It gets some stupid things to happen in an artifact or legendary-heavy deck. Nothing like a turn 5 Blightsteel Colossus to get you ganged up on the next game.
Just want to point out a few things one from the video and another from a comment. 1. Spells played from Thran cannot be countered because thran is not a cast trigger. They can respond to the trigger itself but cannot counter the creature being played. 2. Sarkhan's unsealing would be terrible in this deck because as stated before thran isn't a cast trigger.
Built a 3 color version of this until I can scrounge a few more wildcards but it is so much fun. The deck won 6 games in a row in its debut. Very, VERY fun stuff.
Hey mate, I'm new to MTG and have always loved dino's so I took a large bulk from this deck, bought the cards and have just made my own. With Ixalan rotating soon how do you think this deck would go in Modern?
@@lachlan1429 The problem is it's slow. It's coming down turn 4, then activated the next turn, you're attacking them turn 5 (unless you ramp). And if you're ramping, what's the point of this card? You're required to have the creature in hand. You also give your opponent a turn to respond. The format is just much too fast for this card. You can win the game before someone can play this card, and if you're playing a deck around it, it's going to be full of suboptimal cards. It's basically a slower Affinity deck that has an over-the-top win condition that isn't Emrakul. You could make it what, a blue-black control deck with Inqusition and Thoughtseize, plus Mana Leak and Spell Pierce/Snare. That said, why would you want to play this card? You're narrowed to Gishath getting lucky as a win-condition now, he's dead without this card, this is dead without him, it's just a mess. Personally, I dislike playing decks dependent on drawing two cards to win, especially without great ways to fish them both. Decks like Pod are fine because they play 8 ways to find the cards they need, but this deck is just going to stall until they hope to draw this, when at this point, there are tons of things they could do to win the game. Another issue is spending multiple turns tapping out without actively trying to win. You'd tap out on 4 just to play it and give them a chance to win. If you don't want to play this card on turn 4, why are you playing it? Even if you're okay waiting until 5, at that point, you're just trying to be a fair deck, since you could just be Tron at this point and go for Emrakul, or have won turns ago. In this format, you have to be either: - a combo deck that can win fast (turn 2-4) - a fast deck that puts tons of pressure early - a deck with disruption from all sorts of angles (2 of: hand disruption, removal, counters) - go over the top on turn 3, and even then, it's not always that good Hope that helps a bit
@@ipsumquaerere6927 I hear you, that makes sense. My reasoning for making this for Gishath is that I love dino's and think his effect is dope, but I'm new to the game so don't know all the ins and outs. When I play this deck in standard and get Gishath out on turn 4 I often flood the field with other serious Dino's like Zacama, Etali, Zetalpa, Carnage and Ghalta. If I have 2 or 3 of these guys out + Gishath by the end of turn 4 (I get pretty close to this in 50% or so of my duels so far, I have changed this deck around a little bit to help me with that) is too slow for modern? With that being said my field is definitely not empty of creatures in turns 1 to 3, I often have 2 creatures by the end of turn 3/have thran played as well. Thanks for your previous comment, it definitely helped with some clarification.
@@lachlan1429 don't get me wrong: you can play this deck in modern and you can win. It just won't be super consistent but if it's the cool effect you're after, definitly go for it. You could improve the performance with other cards like elvish piper (also summons creaturs from hand) or lightning greaves (cheap equip spell that gives haste and shroud so that tapping effect can be activated instantly and their users are well protected). On the other hand I also recommend you look into the commander format. It's build so that it plays a bit slower then standart (which allows for bigger plays) and you can have one creatur card always on hand (in your case big G). You can make some seriously fun stuff happen, like boosting Gishaths attack with spells, doublestrike or both and reaveal over 20 cards from your deck (dino flood incomming!) It's also cheaper then moders, since you only need one copy of each card. So you wouldn't have to invest too much into the transition. At the end of the day however it's most important that you have fun playing the game. What that means to you is for you to decied. I whish you the best of luck.
