I own an '83 American Telecaster....got it the hard way when my friend died.
I miss him, but every time I play his guitar he's right there again.
    RIP Terry!

Got a good chuckle out of the new sign off! "Keep your truss rod adjusted" is as good as "Have your pets spayed or neutered". 😂

Background fan noise! That's us. I have an 83 tele. So far, I have replaced everything but the neck, body, and control mounting plate. LOL.

Hey Dave, Thanks for the Krackle killers, it's just what I need for an old rosac bass head that got all corroded. Cheers from Vancouver!

I bought a Tele new in '83 and still have it. It's a true boat anchor but sounds and plays great. It's been modified through the years and is not going anywhere, ever.

    Damn Dave love the intro.
That poor tele looks like the owner dropped his pants and took a massive dump in it. I have all confidence you'll do it right. After a sandwich of course.

I have one that I've changed everything including the neck. Wanted to try rosewood. Nice T-shirt Dave. Sadly Chicago's kick ass radio station is long gone.

I have -84 3 tone sunburst and I believe Fender tried to boost the sales by "modernising" the model: separate tail pieces, new fretboard radius, bigger frets. Greetings from Finland!

    I got a G&L telecaster.
The neck is a wonder to fondle.
I love the show of the correct truss rod wrench. Long and short of it.

Good intro Canuck. How was the visit to the doctor? You know I like the Tele videos. Today’s the B’day so I got some Seymour Duncan’s for one of my Teles. Peace

I have one of these amazing guitars. It is one of my favorites. I especially like the maple 12 inch radius fretboard. I did put a Duncan little 59er in the bridge and a Duncan recommended neck pickup. With a no load tone pot to balance the single coil and humbucker. It's a Rock and Roll machine. BTW Jeff Buckley played one.

My theory on that type of fret damage is:
People put a guitar in the case, then line up the guitar strap along the neck, nice and neat eh?
When the case is closed, the strap presses the strings against the frets, and grinds the frets down where the string contacts them. Also, chemistry between the fret metal and the string metal helps corrode the frets.
Dissimilar metals cause a chemical reaction, eating away the frets in that exact spot.
    I’ll take your responses offline.

A Tele cluster. That thing needs to be redone with some new parts. I’m sure the shielding is crap. It could be a really nice Tele.

One of the things they have AI doing is looking for stable molecular configurations that might result in new drugs. They can run the new molecules found by AI in computer simulations of diseases & viruses. Very cool stuff.

Pre-order pickup height tool from Solo?? Where do I look for it?

    • @markpell8979
      @markpell8979 2 месяца назад

I would check in the 'Unnecessary Tools' department. 😁 Kinda kidding but kinda not, just like our kind host. If pickup height measurement (pickup-to-string gap, actually, is what we're checking for- which then in turn establishes best height for the pickup itself) is needed, don't we already have other measurement tools that can measure gaps? Action height guage, rulers, feeler guages, dial indicator? I can already reliably see an approximately 1/8" (or 'shy' 3mm) gap from having measured things and spaces for my whole adult life. I just eyeball pickup elevation to get in the ballpark, decide if it still looks right and leaves plenty of clearance for string vibration when I fret a string near the neck pickup, then fine tune by ear for output balance from the treble to bass side. If you prefer a cheap handy tool for this job, just keep a short piece of 1/8" wooden dowel rod in the kit. This will get you in the zone quickly and won't be attracted by the magnets or scratch the pickups, especially ones with metal covers. The tool Dave uses looks like brass instead of steel so that would be nonmagnetic, but it can still scratch the pickups or the finish inadvertently. As dad always said, "Accidents don't happen, they are caused." Try to keep your minimum clearance to at least 1/8" if you need to have one end higher or lower than the other for balancing output. That's not a 'hard' limit, just a good guideline. Let each guitar tell you exactly what it wants.

oh my god...I think...no I don't think...I know it's best for you not to work anymore...so did you watch that video before playing it on you tube...you are very nervous ... rough .. your hands are shaking ... just look at how you stretch those stiff strings ... that's how you treat my guitar, it wouldn't be good for your health ... thank God and you'll never work on my guitars ... because if a guitarist doesn't know how to fix his guitar ... then he better leave the guitar and go trim the neighbors' hedges
