I could do that, but I think I prefer the idea of them being 'at rest' in their jar and just sticking with wool/synthetic dreads. cx Thank you for the suggestion though! & I like the baby goat too, he's so cool :D
So I've just recently started watching your videos. How fun! So, im curious about your collection. Are studying and wanting to study biology and stuff or is it just pure enjoyment? My dad did taxidermy for more than 50 years, so I grew up surrounded by animals perminantly staring.. lol. Well, can't wait to watch more. :)
Hello! Well, it started out as pure enjoyment mixed with intrigue but learning about the biology side has been unavoidable with the more I've collected over the years, haha Oh wow, that's so awesome! I guess you got used to all those creatures staring at you after a while? xD Thank you so much :)
I love seeing your collection I would love to do a video like this but I know some things are illegal to have and I have no clue if I have some stuff I should not have so I choose not to show it on camera but I do love seeing other people's collection like yours great video
Thank you! I would totally watch your video about your collection if you ever made one. :D Have you heard of CITES? I've heard that you can check the legality of your pieces on there by typing in the scientific name of the animal in the search bar and if no results come up, it's legal to own. (this is just what I've been told though, I'm still trying to work it myself!)
+Rhaveyn I'll look it up and see . I'm in Tennessee so I really don't know what to look up I know somethings I probably can't show but if I figure it out I'll make a video
am I the only one who is completely confused and grossed out on why anyone would want to collect dead animals and keep them in a jar??, no disrespect intended like each to their own
You are definitely not the only one out there that thinks its odd, but thats why they are called oddities! :) Some people (myself included) are just able to look past the "ew dead animal" part and really focus on the beauty of the creature and admire how it is made and the unique features it holds. It's a way to really appreciate and respect an animal after it dies instead of treating it as something gross and untouchable.
Yessss; thank you! ^ I'm actually planning on making a video on the reasons why I collect wet specimens, and what you just said pretty much sums it up :D
I'll definitely have to look out for that video, then! I always think its perfectly fine for people to have differing interests, but to look down on someone for theirs is where the problem lies. A video explanation of why your personal interests are what they are could totally be helpful to let others find understanding in subjects and items they may otherwise classify as unlikeable. ^^
Do you have any leather shoes or belts? Any wool jumpers? Yeah? Technically you have a dead animal collection then. This girl just happens to enjoy keeping them in their original form and admiring the natural beauty of these creatures. Everyone's normal is someone else's weird and vice versa. It's all relative dude, open up your mind to other people's points of view, their loves and hates. To each their own. If it harms none do as you please.
you could probably sew the dreadlocks underneath a hat, then u can wear them again if u want. i like the baby goat skull

And holy shit I can't believe you actually made a sweater out of your dreads!!
Ahaha it was pretty fun, I enjoy weird challenges
Won't the dead butterflies decompose?
Not if they're dried/stored correctly. A lot of insects can be pretty easy to preserve, most don't require anything at all as far as I'm aware. :)
