Hopefully this helps someone figure out why their PC won't turn on!

Happened to me this week. Not entirely sure why. I disconnected every non essential cable (like front usb port, leds, speaker), and also disconnected and then reconnected the power switch cable to the motherboard; and after that it worked. Probably it was the power switch cable... but I think I just put it back to the same pins it was at the first time. And I later connected all the extra cables, and still working.

One time my friends pc would not power on and it was the cmos battery

Yess that was another good basic one I forgot to include. Thanks for saying, I personally haven’t had that one happen before but it definitely belonged on this list

My motherboard has a power button, also didn't work
And yesterday i bought an PSU i thought it might be what causing all this.. But did not work😢
    PC is 2years old

it could also be the motherboard that's causing the issue, although usually a fan would spin for a split second while trying to power on (something is shorting on the motherboard). also a good way to eliminate your case power button as the issue is to jump the 2 pins where the front panel power switch wiring would go, it happened to me once so it doesn't hurt to try. best of luck to everyone troubleshooting their rigs :)

Almost every brand of PSU have different pinouts for their modular designs, mixing up brands cables is a BIG NO NO, The rookie mistakes I keep seeing people make are:
. They accidentally get part of the metal back plate into a usb port, little fin-like extrusions that are easily bent and make contact with contact points inside the port.
. They forget supplemental power to either the GPU or motherboard, or mix the two up.
. Dropping the cooler on the socket bending pins.
. Not mapping out and relocating risers to match their motherboard form fact, leading to a scratched or bent pcb, or a short.
. Trying to use onboard HDMI in combo with a CPU that has NO graphics capability.
. Over tightening the CPU cooler or not taking off the sticker on the cold-plate.
. Upside down AIO radiator. "Air gaps, no flow"
. Not plugging the pump header into the right spot, or not changing the settings in the bios for 100% power to the pump, Silent mode for a case fan can be useful but not so much for an AIO pump.
. Buying parts that are Pin compatible, but first need a bios update but don't have a means of flashing the bios without first having a bootable PC.
. Making a literal mess with electrically conductive thermal paste all over their components.
. Mistakes with RGB/ARGB, connecting hubs together in ways they shouldn't.
. Scrapping off capacitors and tiny components from the motherboard PCB because they handle the screw driver worse than Michael J Fox.
. Using the motherboard box as a test bed while using the anti-static bag as a "protective" surface, "it's conductive".

Hey man i bought a ryzen 5 5600 an asrock b450m mobo and asgard 2x8 gigs ddr4 of ram, and an antec case
The guy i bought it from is tech savvy and sells new pc parts and builds them , i told him don't bother to add a psu i got a brand new msi a650bnl +80 bronze one , he showed me in vids the part then him building it then having it on with rgb lights on and cpu fans spinning and lighting up even used his drive to access windows 10 using my pc
When the pc arrived and i attached my psu nothing worked dead no fans spinning nothing only thing that showed there's power is the mouse and keyboard lights when plugged in
The psu works fine on my old pc
Any idea why im having this issue?
Ps i noticed the cpu screws were extremely tight

Aw man I’m so sorry to hear that. A rule of thumb with psu’s is to buy them new. I’ve traded other parts no problem but the psu are finicky.
In this video you saw I had the same issue and it turned out the wires weren’t valid anymore. If some components get power it doesn’t mean it’s shot but it’s gonna come down to testing every variable. (Which is tedious I know I hated it) Or returning it and getting a brand new one. You typically also want to get psu’s either gold standard or above.
If you don’t wanna do that I was gonna do this if I didn’t have family with an extra psu I could use as a test bench.
Buy a new psu and test to see if it works inside your build minus the bronze one of course. If it works no problem you know your main parts are solid. Then you move to the wires. If your bronze is modular use the new wires to test out for the old ones in your bronze psu. If the wires from the new psu work then you know it’s the wires. If they don’t, you know it’s the bronze unit itself.
Then the rest is up to you on what you wanna do.. Sorry for being late but I hope this helps. Keep me posted.

@@OptionsFinest yeah the psu is new and i tried it in my old pc no issues i ended up sending it back to the guy like a week ago almost he found the issue to be the motherboard it got fried somewhere between him building the pc and it arriving here he replaced it with one new and it supposed to arrive tomorrow, lets hope this one isn't fried also lol

For me my power button lights up but nothing else happens. This happened after i cleaned my pc. I checked the power supply cable and it is Plugged correctly so idk what might be the problem.

Hmm... It could be that you unplugged something slightly by accident. Go through step by step what you touched while cleaning that could help you. That's what I normally do.

I have a problem. So during summer we had a power surge most of the buildings had that problem 5 times during July and I been on my pc during 19 PM when the computer shut down and didnt run properly after that it restarted for no reason.
Since then I had to look inside the computer to remove and ad back the wires to work. It worked one time two times 10 times from summer to september then I heard a weird beeping and pc didnt turn on and GPU didnt spin again now psu wont spin the fans and I changed the wires to many times. Good I have a RGB Mousepad that tell me if the pc work or not.
    Could be a dead psu?
Dont know of Psu have protection I got the pc a year ago (old components from 2021 A10 5800k CPU 650ti Nvidia 8gb ddr3 corsair vengeance ram motherboard say it can go to 2400+ but ram is 1600

It could be that the surge damaged the components and they didn’t fully die until later. That’s something that takes testing to see which components are the issue. If I wasn’t able to test them myself I’d take it to a microcenter if that’s near you. They should be able to diagnose the problem. If you don’t have one already you need to get a surge protector. I’ve had outages, surges, and whatnot before thus defending my pc from all of it.
