- In this show, Manabu Okuda, a.k.a. the rare monster hunter Robot Okuda, practices and unveils his original "Big Theory" which is not a general theory but is a specialized fishing strategy for catching big basses in Northern Lake Biwa, by using a huge amount of data and experience he has gained targeting a tremendous number of big basses.
Vol.3 was shot on location right before the transition to mid-summer season. The long rainy season made the water temperature low and the weed was not expending yet. Those factors deteriorated the water condition. Most of the fishes were in post spawn conditions, and there was no way to catch them except to place fish at the bottom at slow pace. Furthermore, the northwest wind from Nagahama and the swell from the offshore ruined the shallow areas. Okuda's strategy was to check around as many spots as he could while fishing before the weather gets stormy. In this manner, Okuda developed the "Big Theory of Post Spawn Season" and the "Big Theory of Summer Fishing".
Okuda's standard hard bottom triggering strategy with the MAMBA lure for post spawn big bass and the popular BT Bait, a micro swim bait, for the first big basses migrating in hunting season. He could catch in a row many big basses thanks to the combined use of these two big theories.
