It’s due to issues with rights. It was filmed in something like 80+ countries, the director used countries/places where he would already be shooting commercials. I believe this means the rights to the film are scattered amongst many companies across the world, thus making it hard to reach a deal for streaming or producing physical media.
I saw this movie in theaters when it came out and I loved it immediately! I think the fact that it's rated R has really limited the audience too; which is a ridiculous rating in the first place. I really am impressed by the way that Tarsem has blended reality with fiction and love the relationship between the two main characters.
@@brianaguilar8283 A rating isn't determined by whether or not a movie is family friendly. You think movies like The Ring, Jaws, and Insidious are? None of those are rated R, but why is The Fall?
brittyn because The Fall has bloody violence, I’m sure you remember watching it don’t you? It also has mature thematic elements like depression and a grown man bribing a little girl to help him commit suicide against her knowledge. This question can also be easily answered by the parents guide on IMDb.
I got this film out of a charity shop when I was on my travels and chucked it on the other night. Image wise this is a feast for the senses this movie. It's wonderfully shot, the costumes and locations are amazing and it really is a "different" kind of film. The story behind it is quite sad regarding hospitals and addiction but it's a film that everyone should take a look at for at least once in their lives.
Just saying this in case you didnt understand: Roy is not a drug addict, but he is suicidal, and wants to commit suicide with the pills Alexandria got for him. That is why he was mad when Alexandria only took 3 pills, its noot enough to overdose.
A magical and magnificent film! My mother saw this film first and recommend it that I should watch this on a big screen. When it was released some US reviews were very harsh but the Japanese audience was captivated with this colourful, mesmerizing film. A critic working for US magazine rated very low and thoight this film was very shallow but I disagree. For me, this was like a dream I had when I was very ill and trying very hard to live day by day. The costumes were designed by the late Eiko Ishioka. She is well known for being a costume designer outside Japan but she was also noted for a great visual art director for cosmetic giant like Shiseido and a large publishing company Kadokawa.
It's interesting that Rotten tomatoes critics give this film 62%, but the audience score is 85%. I wonder how so many critics got it wrong? Did they miss the fact that the story is told, brilliantly, through the eyes, ears and understanding of a little girl?
I used to have it on DVD until someone stole it about a decade ago. Tried to order it for years but I think there's a rights issue. Anyway, I checked my library and sure enough, they had a copy.
I could’ve used the shot of the Indian with the bloodshot eyes at one point, after a vicious stab on one of the putties. Otherwise, this video was edited spectacularly, well done 🌀
Honest onion here so keep your 👀 off me, this movie is hard to understand when you already feel nothing. Beware of this movie, I’m pretty sure some of the dialogue pointed out a few mistakes (admittance) of the pyramid Scheme. But hey what do I know, knowone listens
No idea why this movie isnt better known. Its such a visual masterpiece and quite a gem of a story that can speak to anyone.
Doesn't help that's its impossible to stream it, and a DVD costs over $40

Beautiful video, but you could have just put the entire movie
stole my comment
3:03 one of the greatest scene transitions in 21st century cinema.
This movie is a masterpiece.
I'm usually not really one for picking favourites but this movie easily became one of my favourite movies quickly after watching it.
The visuals are spectacular. They are easily some of the best ever put to screen. It's a like a moving painting rather than moving pictures.

I mean, it’s not a family friendly movie

brittyn yes it is 😂
The Ring and Insidious are PG-13, they’re not kid friendly. Jaws is only PG because at the time, PG-13 didn’t exist.
Brian Aguilar you’re making zero sense. Why is The Fall rated R but The Ring and Insidious only PG-13?

Don't ever listen to critics...How shallow can it be if you think it's a beautiful movie (as I do)? Maybe it's the critic who is shallow.
There are thousands of hanging scenes in movies, 2:18 is hands down the most epic, visually stunning piece.
GREAT JOB.
Could anyone see this and not want to see this fantastic movie?
Best visuals story telling...and acting what else for an imaginative mind ?!?
Amazing editing in the end , well done 🎉
This is a masterful edit, thank you.
cinema directors medium the way he/she see story unfolding in their mind... the way shots unfold which way it is all in imagination ...
This film very masterfully presents the architectural beauty of India.
A masterpiece
3:02 HOW THE FUCK DID THEY DO THAT?

Tarsems films are heavily influenced by Alejandro Jodorowsky
Kubrick too
Terry Gilliam vibes.
And tarkovsty too
Stunning edit! Also GREAT job at 3:09 agh :)
I was traumatized by this movie
Idk why but i had nightmares on it 2 nights in a row
Many thanks, my favorite movie I think
Best video on RUclips.
Why the cinematographer of this film didn't make another movie is fucking BEYOND me!!!!
They just did one this year called Luckiest Girl Alive, it’s on Netflix :)
This is the first and probably the last film I have on DVD. I could't find it nowhere to watch and I was so desperate to watch it.
I used to have it on DVD until someone stole it about a decade ago. Tried to order it for years but I think there's a rights issue. Anyway, I checked my library and sure enough, they had a copy.
How can one find a hardcopy? My goodness, this has been a search of mine for years.
DVD of this movie is over $100 at amazon. wtf??
I could’ve used the shot of the Indian with the bloodshot eyes at one point, after a vicious stab on one of the putties. Otherwise, this video was edited spectacularly, well done 🌀

Great film, but your editing in this... lacks.
Well... it’s on purpose. I wanted the shots to stay the way they are. By the way, you can always make your own video just the way you like 😉
