  • Think of it as a Nissan 350Z estate, because it goes like stink yet is practical and spacious. I put a 2004 Nissan Stagea V35 through its paces. It has a 5-speed automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive. It makes an AMAZING noise too.

Thanks for sharing HubNut. My immaterial intense dislike of the VQ related engine and the loss of the in line Skylines WC34 strain is overcome by its Attessa four wheel drive. Former 1996 Stagea owner here. Your drive proved that I was right in not updating. The earlier pressed steel multilink cars and its 28 Imperial mpg with a 2.5 litre was sweeter. The growth was a disaster.

Ahh! I nearly bought one of these, years ago.
I was taking a friend of mine to view a Subaru Impreza (which he ended up buying) and we both saw what looked like a debadged Volvo estate parked outside, with Nissan wheels on it. "How strange" I thought (or words to that effect).
I had a test drive and it was absolutely fantastic. Best car I have ever driven! I was very close to buying it on the spot, but decided to get quotes for the insurance before committing.
    A wise choice, it emerged.
When I rang & searched around, no insurance firm had even heard of the Stagea, so couldn't insure me. Oops!
The one I saw was a '97, as I recall, with said twin turbos and silly amounts of power. It was absolutely bloody spotless.

Mine had a 3.0 litre V6: the split into 2.5 and 3.5 was a bit later. Quiet, relaxed driving, but the power is there for overtaking. Actually, my wife chose it: I gave her a choice between a Toyota Altezza and the V35: I love JDM used imports.
