    This Osgood shovel was built around the time the Panama Canal was dug but no Osgood machines were used on the canal. There were 24 Marion Power Shovels used along with 77 Bucyrus shovels and one made by the Thew Automatic Shovel Company.

      It was common for them to be rail mounted, but this example appears to have mounted on wheels.
