The last time we watched this, we were awarding points for characters. Toad took the MVP, but Princess Toadstool and Luigi got a few points too. I think Mario wound up in the negatives (caused more trouble than resolved).
YOY KNOW I THINK THAT THRILLER SONG IS PERFECT FOR THE SUPER MARIO BROS SUPER SHOW AND I WANT THAT SONG TO BE IN THE SUPER MARIO BROS SUPER SHOW FOR A THRILLER NIGHT CAUSE THIS SONG IS AWESOME
From what I understand, it was easier to get "broadcast" rights for songs but not "syndication" rights. Which is why they replaced the hit songs and covers of hit songs with generic instrumental tracks when the show went into reruns. I've found a few videos online where folks had the originals so I edited them together with the full episodes (because it's just not as good without them). :)
20:54 I love how he’s eating Nintendo cereal, and how the Nintendo logo is covered. Plus I remember eating that cereal, it was probably the best tasting cereal back in the 80s
Ah, man, where was I when this was posted? I was watching Count Koopula, Bats in the Basement, Vampire until Ready, Koopenstein, and The Mario Monster Mash individually, different RUclips videos. The Frankenstein episodes (of the cartoon and live segment) were simultaneously different tabs, as were the vampire episodes. Also, I *respectfully* wouldn't say Koop-Zilla was much a "Halloween" episode. Nice creativity though; I admire you made this Halloween video. I totally would've put in Mind your Mummy, Mommy Mario, Recycled Koopa, and Ghosts R Us, so it can be entire Mario series video. Too bad Halloween is over, as is the joyous feeling of it, huh?
Vampire Tweeters, Were-Koopas, Spider Snifits, Great Vampire King Koopula (almost forgot Baron von Koopenstein and his monster form)... So how come the later games never thought of having these?
They did borrow a few ideas, like the fire-spitting Piranha Plants (Venus Fire Traps) in Super Mario Bros 3. I agree there were a lot of very creative ideas in this show!
It could be! I think Luigi’s character as being a lovable coward originated with the Super Show (he was never given personality in the early games), so maybe they borrowed other elements!
Probably a cover, most of the pop songs are (for example, definitely not MJ doing Thriller). I wonder if any of the songs are done by the original artists?
@MeowAbout reading up on it more I guess Mark Mothersbaugh (Devo) had a hand in the music. But they didn't list which songs. The oingo boingo/weird science cover sounds a lot like him. Any ways it's still cool and this a great upload. 👍
Yep I watched it as a kid. Bowser was known as King Koopa and had green skin and a crown. They continued that design with Adventures of Super Mario Nros 3 cartoon as well as super Mario World. Always up to cooky schemes based on movies like Indiana Jones and star wars how to kidnap princess toadstool(peach)
I remember the show in the original Brodcasting it used a lot of 80s music that was popular. Just sang by different people. The shout factory DVD version just completely removed them all together.
Yep! Something to do with the licensing for the original songs only being available for initial broadcasts. It was removed when the show went into syndication too. I’m doing my best to restore these episodes back to their original glory! They’re just not the same with the songs removed.
21:51 I like how, despite being scared himself, Luigi still tries to comfort Mario.

at 20:47 you can see Lou Albano (Mario) is eating the official Nintendo Cereal System cereal from the 80's!
Toad being the smartest character on the show

Naw man. Ya can't discount Mario's courage. Sure it causes trouble but it also keeps King Koopa in check.

As a bootleg ghostbuster, when really they should’ve just used his actual ghostbusters costume.
@@RetroGaming-gp2efProbably couldn't get the rights to use the real Ghostbusters costume. Rights fees can be expensive.
The thriller video part was the best part! Thank you:)
That’s my favorite part too! The episode just doesn’t work without it!

How did DiC wrangle the rights to all those songs?

Do people liked the old Mario better like the old Pokemon?
@@brianodonnell4496Yeah, some people prefer the old Mario games to the newer ones. Even some of them on the GameCube & Wii are almost 20 years old.
@RetroGaming-gp2ef I thought about NES, SNES and N64?
@@brianodonnell4496 I mean yeah those are still good all these years later.

So much to talk about!
Gooigi origins, Michael Jackson music, a slightly higher budget... this is wild!
It’s not really a special- this is my edit to put together all the Halloween segments into a single video and restore the original cover songs. :)
