A quick traffic tutorial for BeamNG. The new 0.32 update has made a great improvement to traffic and it is so much better.

A few people were asking about FPS drops. I can suggest one thing, assuming you have already set your graphics settings quite low, although I have realized that my video may have been a little misleading. What I should have said was:
Set your graphical settings to a place where your game is still playable, and not having a really low FPS. If this doesn't work then If you open your level editor (F11) then search "thelevelinfo" in scene tree (left hand side of screen) and then you will see the tab on the right hand side of your screen. Here there will be a section called "Visibility" if you set the visible distance to a lower number, (I think on my old PC i used around 300, if it's too low, as it is quite low just increase it, until you find the right value for you :D). This will improve your FPS a decent amount (hopefully).
Unfortunately beamNGs AI is almost purely CPU based, due to CPU doing complex mathematical calculations that can't be done on a GPU even on high end products. This is why we use simplified traffic :)

What are your settings for the chase camera?
The distance thing actually works , it can even double your fps in some cases like in cities and model dense places where its not rrally noticeable because of the buildings but in maps like this if you set it too low you can see the horizon just disapearing , maybe at night i'll be better cuz you cant see anyways so it will not be drawn by the pc. That setting should be in the settings menu cuz doin it via the world editor is kinda bad

Beamng isn't just a game. It's a game within a game of another game.
The physics are incredible in beam. The fact people are able to make planes, helicopters, boats. It's incredible, it definitely is going to be the go to simulator.
BeamNG does almost everything better by itself than if you were to pick the best parts of every other game and mash them together, and the few things it doesn't do better have probably already been fixed by mods
BeamNG is not just a game you're right, it's much more than that it's every car game in one and so much better than all of them at the same time. I love how flexible the development has been as well they give a shit and that's so rare these days. Truly my favorite driving game without question and one of the best dev teams out there for dedication, Beam NG is an experience.

BeamMP exists y'all. Whoever is the first one to make a server on there like this with a good carlist, is another steap ahead to financial stability.
have you play beam zero on BeamMP ? i drive with traffic on "Experimental" serv and you can edit how many IAs to spawn also !

beamNG is probably the only driving game you can turn into another driving game. anything from NFS to a cross country trucker game to a flight sim to whatever you wanna do with a speed boat

Fr Assetto changes the traffic hitbox the faster you go, beamNG doesn't is way better imo :D

I also turned on the "Cinematic crashes in freeroam mode" and it really fun! sometimes it thinks im going to crash outta nowhere but im just on a straightaway, but thats okay because it looks cool :D
How do you turn on high beams
We're getting so close to a Tokyo Xtreme Racer 4 in BeamNG. I'd do unspeakable things for a new TXR game in 2024+, and that this is all coming together so nicely makes me really excited for the future of BeamNG.
TXR is the best,,, the modern games industry is so terrible nowadays though it would be DLC ridden and online only and yada yada,,,, old games are better but sadly for the TXR franchise there was never a PC release so it never go a modding scene. TXR3 or Street Supremacy or Drift would all be INSANE with mod support
Previously I was upset about default traffic settings. There were just not enough cars to feel like I drive through a live city. Now, finally, I can give up on GTA IV with is clunky crash physics ant traffic and really enjoy this dangerous ride where any mistake can be the last one. Thanks, dude. Godspeed.
This got me smiling from ear to ear. After coming from hours upon hours modding assetto corsa found it to be tiring and tedious. When I found beamng to be the easiest to Mod. Now I can play no hesi with beautiful crashing physics. Now just more cars that’s in no hesi should come to beamng mods

@@kantina4765some servers have a LOT of cars vanilla beamng already has a decent amount of customizability so you can make tuned "no hesi" like cars instead of having 50 cars and beamng has downloading mods implemented into the actual game too. Sometimes on assetto corsa the car file is deeper in a file and it messes with content manager and installing the mod itself.
Assetto is litterally the easiest modding experience of any game ever wtf are you smoking lmao even Skyrim mods are more involved

i had a i5 760 and gtx 1050ti when i first got this game now somehow i have a ryzen 5900x and 4080

@@ok0_0 had the xtx and returned it due to vr issues at launch, I troubleshooted for days before giving up and getting the 4080. Also, it had a coil whine that was pretty obnoxious. Shame really as I wanted the vram

This game was the number 1 reason I wanted a Gaming PC as well. It's so excellent in every single way.

I got this map mod too, even if you cruise and "abide" traffic rules, it's so much fun to loop around. Because of the vast length of the map, it never quite feels like you're in a loop.
Driving anything from Truck & trailer combo's to touringcar busses or motorbikes, it's seriously a must-have map mod, also because you can take exits and turn off or on, switch directions whilst still going "forwards".
People with high end PC's will enjoy it even more, cruising in real-time at dawn or sunrise is something I would recommend doing too! Dawn is my favorite, especially after entering the longer tunneled sections and you come out the opposite side in a starry night sky with the subtle hue of sunset still at the distant horizon.
If the devs read this, I really hope you can model something similar and allow us to traverse for miles in our favorite vehicles! ❤

I'm pretty sure most of the JDM style cars in BeamNG are going to get the Runner config, cars like the Sunburst, SRB4, Old Pessima, and when the 96 Pessima got it's update a while ago it got a Wangan tunned config. also Est,s Toyota Supra JZA80 Supra mod in the BeamNG Forums has a Wangan/Runner config. So far, the Mirama, Covet, and the 200bx have Runner Configs, the Miramar also has a Mountain King config for togue runs.

I’ve been playing a lot of beamng after playing a lot of nohesi and it has been so much better. There’s something about this game that feels so real on my wheel. Like the thrill is gone from ac but I get a thrill in beamng.
Personally I think its the risk that makes it so rewarding. One mistake and your gone. In Assetto you can crash and be pretty much ok most of the time

You can do this exact same thing on nurburgring map (or any track map) to simulate one of those open track days they have. You can choose what class of cars spawn too and up the risk/speed to make them drive fast like a track day

BeamNG is going to become that one game that numerous other games are built off. Like the base game is always BeamNG but with an altered physics model etc
Oh 100% with a new much more optimised engine they could so do that. I think just switching to Vulkan and reworking the engine entirely they could make it extremely better
I had been holding off on getting BeamNG until it went on sale (I have not paid full price for a PC game in over 20 years). But it never goes on sale! So I got Steam gift cards for my birthday in March and instantly bought it. No this just adds to the fun of it, and I need to get this ASAP.
My go to uses to be AC with mods, but I went through a few months of PC troubleshooting, where I wiped it clean twice, and the AC mods were not working properly (some not at all), so I uninstalled AC and gave up on it for a while. (Been racing a lot of Dirt Rally 2 and Dirt 4.)
But this mod could definitely make BeamNG a new favorite!

American Truck Simulator is also pretty good to race thru traffic with the traffic density mod, and you can also get any car you want too from mods for something similar like this.

I love how some years ago people used to play beam ng mostly to get a car and jump of a mountain or something, now we got hyper realistic physics and hella of a good graphics, I love how this game ages so well

get the extra tire grip mod, and u can type in exactly how much grip u want so ur not driving on ice, makes cutting mad fun like irl
The tires are perfectly grippy as-is. Try adding a g-force meter to your UI, and you'll see.

@@ThaJay Pretty sure they are working on it. Some screenshots from a dev post some while ago, had a UI module on the main menu titled "multiplayer". Don't know how soon it will come but yeah :D

Hey thanks for this! I make movies in beam (i dont upload bc copyright music). Ive always been using script ai manager and manually creating traffic. This cuts that work out for movies that take place in present day. Sadly we still do not have the option to only spawn of a certain vintage. Thank you!

@@zentoa Nice!! Funny enough I did 15 cars last night trying it and had high settings and was pretty good I'm Rocking a Ryzen 5 5600x and 3060 with 32gb of ram 3733
I built my PC around this game lol. 32 GB ram, 7600xt, 5900x. I finally can run high settings high framerate 1440p with traffic on all maps.
press 6 on the keyboard for that camera angle btw
set it to night and set the weather to foggy and you have night runners
also make sure to set the traffic to a very low amount and use like boring white cars for them, and of course, blast dazegxd music at full volume the entire time

Would love if google maps could be tied into this game.. select your destination and press start.
Using the GPS, see if you can make it across town quicker.. or drug runner mode.. basically same thing but cops in the mix.
There is, if you just press m and open the map you can click and it will start a route :D
Beamng should sell the car destruction tech and every car game should buy it and implement it..

After playing AC,Forza5,Beam, I really do think BeamNG is more like a sim then any other game/sim out there, couple it with Automation and its a winner.
@Zentoa, can you give me your specs? Im running off a 3 year old Legion laptop with Windows 10, An RTX 3050 TI laptop (4GB), a AMD Ryzen 7 5800H with Radeon Graphics 8/16, and 24gb of ram. My BeamNG game runs around 50 to 60 fps so do you think the traffic with the new update will tank my fps?

I don't think they will ever have real car brands officially licensed but irl tracks would be very cool
When they make some pavement and tire physics, unreal engine 5.4 graphics it would be perfect. real Ai driving for each car, maybe some cops, nfs like tuning :D
That's something I really want them to do. Stop dev on current version and start porting to Unreal. Would make it extremely optimised and look even more incredible :D.
The current AI is still one of the most advanced out of any racing game, but yeah a real AI would be amazing, but that isn't exactly possible lol.
Same with tuning. You can literally modify every single part of the car, which is insane

Police traffic are able to be used too :)
Graphical settings don't matter, but break out the ice pack for your CPU.

sweet video, ive just been spawning in ai traffic on the maps without adjusting their settings. can you help me figure out why my roads are just blank whiteness on this map? otherwise i love it, and it never had that issue before this latest update.
I just had to reinstall the map and it fixed the issue for me :)

Same here. Their menus are super laggy. But they have a showcase of a new menu in the new update in Vehicle Config, which is a lot nicer to use

But I agree the Devs are doing a lot to try and improve performance. Take this video for example I used to never be able to play with this many traffic cars on these graphics but the most recent update allowed me to. :D

Ive been using beam as a truck simulator for years. Nothing is even close, I can accurately model weight, and mechanics in this.
Ive made mods, maps, currently working on a full suite of 4kHD Truck, trailers right now, followed by heavy machinery.
Trying to also work on some logging road maps, detailed mountain construction sites, etc.
You can add UI panel and edit mod camera behaviour. Tweak it a bit and you can get rid of that Y-Axis Shake
I quite like the shaking, makes it feel faster :D. Usually play in first person anyways.
Although it may look better for the video...
