As someone who spent a career in the Sheet Metal Trade, I'd suggest stich welding the patches in there...just tack skip tack and come back utill you get it filled in...dont overheat an area take your time with it....sand it off using a flap wheel or 24 grit disk and touch up welds where needed!
I don't think you have a shield gas welder. That is definitely flux core. And that is the hardest to do nicely. Also walking the cup is a tig welding move. And it's fine. We all learn. Keep it up.

Go to store and buy a couple cans of cooking spray (Pam,etc) and that will stop the splatter from sticking.

Get yourself a welder that uses a tank.
