    This brought back great memories! I love 70-80’s OPC sets ! I’m still actively buying every rookie cards from those sets in PSA high grades (PSA8 for 70’s and PSA9 for 80’s). I love the 1982-83 set. Its one of the best looking set of that area! Thank you for the memory lane this morning! Hope you do more of those in the future!

    I have that in action gretzky, not a PSA 10, but good shape, sharp corners. Paid 5$ for it at a flea market 7-8 years ago. Bought 40-50 gretzky's from that seller, most of his 80's cards plus a bunch of cool inserts from the 90's.

    No matter how good looking the cards that are now, to me nothing is more beautiful than pre 90's. Just might be because of the nostalgia. I remember having my 2 dollars in my hands and getting a pack along with chips, soda and some candy whenever I look at 70s and 80s cards.
    Thanks for bringing back all those wonderful memories on this Sunday.
    Hope you have a great weekend. #Dryden

      Cheers brother. 100% on the chips and Coke. Or maybe I'd get gum, because it lasts longer. I was huge on gum. The crazy thing is I have the entire set because I built as a kid. It's in a binder in Montreal.

    With all due respect to Dale Hawerchuk, he was no Steve Yzerman.

    • @Fultoncards
      @Fultoncards  5 месяцев назад +1

      I disagree vehemently on this one my friend. They both put up 100 points six times. Dale played on much worse teams, and was a 1P/GP guy in the playoffs, while Yzerman wasn't (he was close). Yzerman didn't win a Cup until year 15. Dale received zero press, because he was buried in Winnipeg. But, most Canadians know just how great he was. He dragged bad Winnipeg and Buffalo teams into the playoffs. I get that longevity always wins when it comes to being remembered. Thus Bossy is forgotten by the hobby, even with four Cups. But let's be clear here. Dale had 1,400 P in under 1,200 GP. Stevie had 1,755 P in 1,500 GP. Again, more P/GP. Very, very comparable careers. Dale never had the D that Yzerman had. For most of their careers they were mirror images, production wise.

    How much can the Bossy reach raw ?

    • @Fultoncards
      @Fultoncards  5 месяцев назад +1

      Let me just say, tragically, even a raw 78/79 OPC Bossy RC is like a $35 card. The hobby has a herding mentality, whereby everyone believes they must chase whatever everyone else chases. Ironically, ppl prefer cards that are overhyped instead of underhyped, due to FOMO. So it's circular. Bossy is one of the most overlooked players in the hobby. Hawerchuk and Francis (5th all-time in points) are as well. The fact is anyone today would prefer to throw $2,000 at a Bedard instead of buying a single $75 80/81 OPC Messier RC, even though the Bedard, due to mass printing, could come down to $700.

      an astronomical 2$ if you find the buyer probably

    • @Fultoncards
      @Fultoncards  5 месяцев назад +3

      I have complete faith in Bedard's talent. But I'd rather make $5 on a Bossy card (as I do consistently on COMC) than lose $2,500 buying a $4,000 Bedard card that will absolutely tank to $1,500 on basic economic fundamentals.

    hahaha there is no 3000$ card from that set... pack was obviously re-sealed,cards were all mix in upside down back in the days never they were all in order in packs.

    • @Fultoncards
      @Fultoncards  5 месяцев назад +1

      With all due respect, let me clarify why you are incorrect:
      1) I myself kept packs from this era, and the cards were right-side up;
      2) There are numerous breaks on eBay and I myself have seen recent live breaks of it, and the cards are positioned exactly the same as mine;
      3) The cards were bought from a very reputable UD-approved retailer, and the pack emanates from a sealed case certified by the Baseball Card Exchange (this wax pack era is their strongest expertise);
      4) And a PSA 10 Gem-Mint Gretzky 80/81 second-year card sold for $38,000. The 82/83 fourth-year In Action Gem-Mint Gretzky sells for over $2,500, due to its scarcity. In fact, his fifth-year 83/84 OPC PSA 10 just sold for $2,370 at auction on June 18, 2024.

      With all due respect, I do have to push back on your comment. The break itself was only five minutes. YT has a ffwd function. This is a 42-year-old product, deserving important historical, checklist, and PSA context. The entirety of the vid is only nine minutes. This vid received 99% thumbs up. If you are familiar with my channel, my breaks are not simply about the cards I hit. They are more about historical storytelling, odds, and a shared love affair with growing up in arenas. My viewers have come to expect long-form buildup and denouement. My vids are more like long-form The Hockey Guy videos than adrenaline junkie breaks, where his vids often surpass 20 minutes. Mine never do. All this is by design, and I myself am vehemently against reductionist meme culture.
      I believe in long-form storytelling and analytical thinking. If ppl do not have the patience for a 10min vid or two paragraphs like this one, I wonder how they read entire news articles, short stories, or even novels. How do they read detailed work reports, vote, or buy products without complete intel? Not allowing long-form content undermines communication and accuracy in our culture, and leads to 1M ppl dying of a perfectly preventable disease. This may be generational. But, I will not compromise on my depth of content or pacing, as I am - by definition - pushing back against the gambling and gamification of sports and cards. Note too that gambling apps and social media algos, their addiction, have been shown to be highly detrimental to both individuals and our social fabric. The entire premise of my channel is it is *methodical* in-depth education. If this is not for some viewers, that's fine. Almost every other card channel is for oversimplified adrenaline junkies promoting gambling to kids, high-octane manufactured drama for the algos, getting financially killed, and then blaming card companies. Not me.
