    Wow I just stumbled on your channel and have been loving all your videos! Such an incredible collection and such a wealth of knowledge! This was such a great first video that gives a larger context of what some of the first video cameras were back in the 70s and I loved being able to see some of your home videos as well.
    I've been a working videographer/cinematographer for the past decade or so, and I first learned during the "DSLR" revolution, so even when I went to film school we were learning on little DSLRs and never film or camcorders. I've been playing catch up and teaching myself all the older tech and am fascinated with it all! I can't wait to keep watching more of your content!

      @techtoremember8096  Год назад +1

      Hi Richie, Thanks so much for your comment. It really does mean a lot! I also find it interesting how you have never actually used camcorders but still maintain a very healthy curiosity about them. For most folks these videos bring out nostalgia in them-but I see in your case its a bit different. Its funny, because with all the new great technology now in cameras, they still all pretty much look the same, aside from a few small details. Camcorders in the day were so strange looking by today's standards, in a whimsical, clunky nerdy yet very cool way! Keep watching, there will be more mixed in with some new technology too (got to try and keep everyone happy)!

      @@techtoremember8096 Can't wait to see more videos from you!
      I guess I never "professionally" used camcorders when I first started learning, but I did shoot a few times as a kid on old VHS camcorder we had for home movies and also in Highschool I had a "media" class with MiniDV which really first started my love for filmmaking. Those MIniDVs in my class, paired with a lot of the skateboard videos I was watching at the time, always had me curious to learn more about camcorders. So I guess the nostalgia aspect is still there for me since I've been chasing a Panasonic HVX200 or HPX170 because of their nostalgic look and ergonomics etc!
      Also, after I graduated from Mirrorless and DSLRs when I was first learning, I started shooting more on ENG style cameras like the Sony FS7 (internal ND and being able to put it on my shoulder with a EVF was everything I had been chasing for years) I eventually bought the Sony FX6 for my own work and it's been the perfect camera for me. I sometimes get hired out for DP work where we rent Alexa Mini's etc, but I still rather shoot on an FX6 with all it's ENG style user buttons and conveniences.
      I'm based on Long Island, not sure if you're outside NYC, but if you ever want access to an FX6 to compare to older technology, would be happy to lend mine!

    • @techtoremember8096
      @techtoremember8096  Год назад +1

      Yes I am familiar with the FX6. Very nice well built high end camera for sure. The only thing for me is that it doesn't have a viewfinder and there are times, I definitely like using one, especially in bright sun but you for sure, have some nice manual controls with their cinema line. I remember very clearly when Mini DV came out and it was a great format. The ability to make "perfect copies" of your tapes was a real benefit and have no generational loss when editing in a non-linear way was another. Thanks for your offer on the FX6. I may take you up on it one day! Thanks again !

    Great video! I was hoping you would have my very first camcorder, the Sony CCD-1 (7:19 in your video), which I bought at a chain store called "Silo" back in September, 1986, a few months after our triplets were born. I still have the camcorder, all of its accessories and even the original box. I've had many cameras and camcorders since then, and still have all of them; I now shoot with a Canon XF605. The very first video camera I ever saw first-hand, back in 1972, was the Sony AVC-3200DX, at a high school basketball game. I was a manager on our team and, at half-time, the manager of the opposing team took me and my co-manager up into a loft to see their camcorder. I was impressed, although a bit disappointed that the viewfinder was black and white. Thanks again and I'm a subscriber now!

    Very nice video. I'm watching on my mobile at the moment, which I believe does have stereo speakers and some sections where you're talking to camera only seem to come out of the left side. Maybe you forgot to fix that in post or if you don't know there's an effect in Premiere Pro to fill the right with left or vice versa if needed
    Great introduction for the channel though and professional feel
