    Seiyuus need more recognition tbh, they work really hard-and by that I mean REALLY HARD. And now seiyuus are getting more popular, and I'm really happy and proud for them.

    • @m3gusta17
      @m3gusta17 3 года назад +24

      Seiyuu have long been the stars of the anime world, and pretty much all fans that aren't casuals are aware of it.
      I'm not trying to bash anyone in particular, but I think the popularity of seiyuu (at least in Japan) has been established for many years, if not many decades, now.
      Jouji Nakata (of Hellsing and Fate/stay night fame) was a stage/live action actor before becoming a seiyuu, and went full-time with seiyuu work after seeing how gigantic the disparity was between the paychecks. And he's not young; seiyuu pay being exceptionally high was already a thing over 25 years ago.
      So at the very least, the profession is extremely well-respected in Japan (perhaps even disproportionately so). An A-list seiyuu will make far more than any other member of the staff on a show, including the director. Meanwhile, animators generally get garbage pay for doing insane amounts of work (unless they work at KyoAni).
      And I say all this as a huge fan of seiyuu for almost a decade now.

      @@m3gusta17 Ohhhhh, thanks for the info!
      I'm just a new fan so I don't know much about seiyuu so this is very helpful to me as a new seiyuu fan. Thanks again!

      What m3gusta17 said basically, seiyuus no longer just do voice-acting as a main profession.
      You could say they have a celebrity status over there, and do other jobs alongside their main VA work. Most casual fans don't really follow them aside from anime, so it's understandable people outside of Japan aren't aware of it.
      If you follow even one of the seiyuus however, it's really amazing seeing them adjust/adapt to different work situations.
      That said, it is sad that animators aren't getting paid enough, I hope that gradually changes overtime.

    • @shydny9564
      @shydny9564 3 года назад +7

      Voice actors aside, I really hope animators would get the pay that they deserve. Just like voice actors, animators work REALLY HARD too. They overwork themselves just to finish an episode in a given amount of time, and yet they get paid too little.

    Japanese VAs have my utmost respect. I long for the day that they'll receive Oscar awards and receive more recognition worldwide. I mean what they do is SO HARD. They're so passionate and put their best effort in their work. I admire them. I also hope that we'll get online live stream of AOT Live Reading event and I'm willing to pay if that happens.

    This is honestly why I just can't get into any other dubbing for anime, I am by no means trying to downplay the English VAs, I'm sure they give their best too but Japanese VAs are just on another level
    You get even more respect and admiration for these seiyuus once you've seen how they do live dubbing in events and such...one of the prime examples was back before Season 3 started, they did a live performance for most voted scenes in a Japanese TV show...and it was done during midnight till 1am+ Japan time too, seeing them easily get into character in a split second was surreal

      Because over there its a serious business. In America, anime are still seen as childish stuff and that probably filter out some good VA that wanted to do voice over for something that they felt more professional. Hopefully, since anime is getting more and more popular, more good English VA is going to emerge.

      English VA amazing for disney, cartoon or other. But for anime they really cringey. Thats why anime made from Japan (sorry bad english)

    • @tamara.mw.
      @tamara.mw. 3 года назад +16

      American VAs just need to go to acting school, meanwhile in Japan voice acting is an actual career and you study specifically for that.. that pretty much sums it up

    • @pearl218

      I agree with you. English VAs are good but Japanese seiyuus are just ugh I can't even choose the best term to describe them. I watched S4ep7 and 8 in english dub and then I re-watched them in eng sub. It's just different even just the screams. I can feel more emotion in japanese VAs. I have a friend who watch eng dub and I was trying to convince him over and over again to try to watch eng sub but he doesn't want to. Idk how to convince him. Any tips? lol

      this is one of the reasons i like eng subs more when it comes to other languages i dont know. also for me at least, i dont like it when the original is altered. like, when i watch smth, i want it to be on its original raw form, i want to watch it exactly how it was made to be like. i dont want the films to adjust themselves for me, like changing the audio into english dubbed.
