Did you try to place the backpack at the exact spot? There‘s a Tiny spot you can place backpack on. If thats not the problem could you describe the problem to me or atleast what you didnt get to work?
You have to put it back into the backpack by looking for a free space in backpack and pressing f or by tapping on a free spot in the backpack on mobile. If you drop it somewhere it dissapears from your backpack and you have to get it again.

You can also put it on one of the rails on the 2nd last floor and put the rope gun in the bag it’s much easier to

Tower might have been tilted for you and you gotta get it at a specific angle and try multiple times

Its not permanent. You dont put it back in backpack you have to get it again.

Actually didnt test that yet! I did it with backpack_4, Will test it with backpack_8 Tomorrow and let you know :)
So, ive tried it with backpack_8 it didnt seem to work lol, maybe try to attack something to the rope gun and try to place the backpack on there
