    I know it might seem boring, but as a trainee welder I would love to see a video from a Brit explaining drawings and how to correctly interpret them. It’s a skill that seems to be overlooked a lot! Thanks for the videos! Best British welder on RUclips!

    Try turning your power down until you just have enough power to penetrate all the way into the root. When you strike an arc just linger a little bit on de same spot until you notice your puddle is penetrating when you get that little wiggle in it, and then start walking. And get a smaller diameter filler wire like 1mm or 1.2mm and drip it in to your puddle at even intervals just like you are doing, every 3sec. Or so. I always find that this method works good for me because your not using to much heat so that your puddle is easy to control. And always keep the hot tip of your filler wire shielded in the argon envelope of your of your tig cup. And walk your cup with a tight motion so most of the arc force is focused on the same point so you penetration profile will be even.

    With the blanking plate, is an idea to make another one up from stainless. The one part of a stainless spool that you Dont want contaminated )and corrosion setting in) is the flange face👎 either that or run masking tape over the flange covering the machined face before you put your blanking plate on.

    Use the scotch bright to clean the shit off the steal before you start. Looks a touch hot for your speed, that's where the black cap comes in (ya cook the steal). And a lay wire technique will cool the pool too and help
    Love the content 👍

    weld hot and fast use laywire and it will push threw
    you may have to turn up 20 amps or so. ive had good luck with it on 4" stainless sch40 with a 1/16th gap

  • @Phongsakorn1997
    @Phongsakorn1997 3 года назад +3

    try 50-60 amp and walk with laywire and you will see the differences.

    • @jackmclane1826
      @jackmclane1826 3 года назад

      You can get root problems then... Laywire is just the lazy option needing more heat making the material worse. Bad idea.
      From a structural standpoint these welds here are fine. And I'd prefer safe and sound welds over looks any time!

  • @venture17fly

    Looks pretty good, I'm no stainless pro, but whenever I've seen people walking the cup they're usually doing laywire. I think its so the gas keeps the filler from contaminating. Your roots look pretty nice though, good job! Also not sure if you're welding with a respirator, but Hexa-Chromium is nothing to mess around with.

    • @kf8575
      @kf8575 3 года назад

      Walking the dog can use with dipping the filler wire too. As long as you keep the hot wire tip inside the gas shield, it doesnt oxidise👍

    Nice video. If the company you work for had welding procedures and WPS's in place, you'd have a range of amps and gas/purge flow rates for you to use. ✌🏻

    If you need some good respiratory protection without using an adflo setup the miller lpr respirator works great! Use the respirator with the new clearlight lens for miller classic series helmet: metal matrix clearlight classic series. You won't be disappointed!

    Clean your s/s bro. Your cap will look good as well. And don't pull your feed out or keep your filler in your gas feed. Or maybe you know that and looks are not what you are looking for.
