Week 12 of our virtual pilgrimage brings us to our final location in Rome. After the vision of La Storta, the Companions entered Rome and began the history of the Society of Jesus. It took Ignatius many years, many turning moments, many adaptations and changes, many travels, studies, and conversations, to lay here, in Rome, the foundation of a new story. The story of a companionship that wanted to help souls, and to do so it turned itself into an institution, a Society, and became global. But here, in Rome 1540, that institution is still just a construction site, one in which you can see only the solid foundations. Our theme of reflection this week, is on "foundation."
