Cut Dino some slack...he was a showbiz professional who knew what audience buttered his bread and at the time he was coming off a #1 "Everybody Loves Somebody Sometime" that shared the airwaves on KRLA, KFWB. and other so. Calif. stations of my 8th grade youth. with The Beatles, Pacemakers, Chad & Jeremy and all the rest .....Also Dino knew success when he saw it. Not long after he and Sinatra formed Reprise Records soon to be home to The Kinks, Elec. Prunes (Hassinger produced and managed) Neil, Joni and a host of others from the emerging new scene. His poke at the Stones expense was what everyone did to the new British acts. This at the time when the powers that be in show business had themselves come up through vaudeville, silent movies and the jitterbug era. Things were set to change big....

It's a natural reaction from mediocre comedians to ridicule those who are about to shake things up ....

I suspect it was Dean Martin Dave Hassinger was referring to when he wrote in the Aftermath liner notes about the “countless jibes of mediocre comedians.”

Joseph Palau Don’t blame the Stones, blame the late, great Dave Hassinger ( en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Hassinger ) and Dean Martin’s lazy writers

If you have someone on your show why would you insult them like that? Very low class of Martin. Irony is that Martin is somewhat remembered but the Stones are known by hundreds of millions and are still very much a going concern. I've seen another clip where Keef reacts to Martin's comments with a look of bloody murder.

You can't compare these drug addicted bastards to Dean Martin.... Screw the Stones

*@rbmindful* Great performance.......the Stones themselves couldn't care less about Dino's jibes.... it only made them stronger , as Richards stated , "we came back and bit off their heads "......

All Martin ever had was shorter hair, not talents - not even funny and nobody remembers what he's done as an artist

Baloney, at the time he was a much bigger star and would continue for many years Big music, movie, tv, and concert star.
