Ich komme immer wieder zurück das ist das beste deutsche cover das ich je gehört habe. Deine Stimme ist so schön auch in English und Japanisch hörst du dich so gut an. Dieses Video braucht mehr views.
As a German I first didn’t recognized that this song is completely german because the singer had a nice voice but the spelling was not so good and the metric (the way how to pronounce the syllables) was a little bit terrible. I am not a expert in foreign language music like Japanese music but it looks that nobody who worked on the song (writer, singer….) could speak German fluently, maybe as much as Germans can learn Latin in school. There are even some very bad Enjambements in the Text, which a nativ German speaker would never make and which forces the singer to swallow a syllable, which makes the song worse for all who speak the language and recognize that the singer has to force the words in that way.
After I knew the lyrics and that it is actually my native language, the song got sadly bad for me, because it I know that it is my native language but I still can’t understand at least 10%. I am by the way still thankful that some people around the world make german music, it is just sad that my language is very difficult for other people around the world.
But this version is clearly a masterpiece. And because of the skill to pronounce the words properly clearly much better than the performance of non german singers, which should be more a fact than a critic, it is not your fault when you don’t understand how to spell german words.
It wasn't written to be faithful to the German language. A few other songs in the series are also "German". It's more about how the song sounds and the lyrics. The actual pronunciation doesn't matter as much.
I enjoy both versions for what they are and they both sound fine. Music is just music to me.

You say The Angel, the Future, the Luck, we say der Engel (maskulin), die Zukunft (feminine) and das Glück (neutral).
While you say an Angel, a Future and a luck, we say ein Engel, eine Zukunft, ein Glück.

Here you need something else cause you also can’t use „an or a“ for plural words.
I sadly have to tell you that these articles don’t always follow a clear rule, we Germans just know when to use mask. Fem. and neutr. and you would need to learn it.
There are of course sometimes some rules like: Feminine persons or animals are always feminine and same with male: die Stute (fem) but der Hengst (mask), in general: das Pferd (the horse, in German neutral)
But der Elephant can be mask as a word even if you don’t know if it is male or female.
An other rule is words ending on -heit, -keit, -ung are always feminine substantives.

I just recently got back into attack on titan after years of absence. Yet no matter what Anime I watched, at some points, I just imagined that song playing in my head. Now I was just thinking what would it sound like if someone who natively spoke german sung it?

Yep , immensely . The japanese singers cadence were butchered , she pronounced these words in a Japanese way instead of germanic (coming from someone who speaks malay and have tried leaning german a tiny bit during middle school)

This is an amazing cover! But I have a question, when you listened to the original version, did you understand the singer?
Because I read some comments on the original song and some comments said that they're from Germany yet they didn't understand the singer.
It is very hard to understand what she is singing. I had to read the official lyrics to get what she was intending to sing and also had to alter the lyrics a bit to actually fit the music. It's not her fault entirely but rather the not fitting syllables
Not German, but I studied German. The lyrics of this song are simple, yet I couldn't understand the singer either. She has great vocals, but she needs to improve her pronunciation for this song.

I think it also has to do with the way the original track was mixed. Not saying the original singer's voice was overtaken by the instrumental, but more like her voice was more of an instrument itself than a traditional vocalist. I mean, despite not understanding her or being able to make out what words she's sounding out, the sound is still there and it gives me chills.
@@MissElisabelle As a german: you're wrong. She doesnt need to. Shes just not a native speaker and has an opera education. German as a syllable intense language is hard to sing and she swallowed syllables according to what she learned in opera and puts emphasis on pronounciation in words on the wrong syllables, but besides that her pronounciation is better than 99% of non native speakers. Any language sounds like something completely different if you start putting emphasis on different syllables and vowels.

From one native German to another. Great job. I can imagine this not being the easiest cover. The way the words flow with the melodic changes is pretty awkward sometimes. You can tell the Japanese influence on the pacing.
