I'm from Kherson. You described my state after this 2 years pretty closely! In the first weeks of war I heard automatic rifle fire outside my window (2 km from the bridge), while playing some FPS game (yes, its very funny and ironic). I also hid with my family in a cellar while mortar shells where flying above our house and planes was dropping some big-ass bombs near the bridge. Then months in occupation, sometimes weeks without electricity, I have a video from CCTV of a ruski soldiers patrolling on my street. Right before the "referendum" me and my family decided to evacuate, with no "green corridor" or any guarantees of safety. Had to drive through 6-10 "blockposts" full of fully armed russian bastards. Drove through "no man's land", with destroyed military tech on the fields and stories of snipers just shooting bus drivers for no reason. I can't really describe all this with words, properly... Now I'm in Kyiv too, been through the last winter, last attack hit closest near me yet, from the sound of it...
IDK, I'm a hikikomori (no job, no friends, just very aged family). I also almost never read any news and mostly escape into my useless projects or other worlds, so I'm pretty distanced from the war, yet still, as you said, it catches up with me from time to time. And its not easy to exist in this moments...
What is called “Normal” in Russia in other countries is called “devastation and chaos”.

When the ruzzians approached Kyiv on Feb. 24, 2022, I had no understanding why they would, because I never paid much attention to history of Europe and also I had no developed political instincts for waging clever control over groups of people. Then we saw the news from Bucha and we were straining to comprehend 21st century reality. Soon I was reading important books by authors Kasparov, Applebaum, and Snyder, and talking with local Ukrainians. My comprehension was quickly advanced - people are actually monsters and the monsters' agendas must be held in check by intelligence wielding properly developed moral aestheticism.
Maybe this represents "my life in America as I comprehend 2 years of ruzzian invasion into Ukraine". I became more deeply appalled with the reality of what "nations" can actually be when they are not intervened against, internally, by their own practices of key principles of democracy. I learned much by reading "Winter Is Coming" by Garry Kaspaov. Still, I continually struggle to accept that the kremlin has actually created an Orwellian nation where the people accept massive facadery whereby the kremlin pretends to the rest of the world that it has a superior form of democracy or superior modifications constantly improving "despite the rest of the world's manifold aggressions being waged against them".
In my response to myself below I will post a small lecture which I have built over past weeks due to comments by pro-ruzzian zhiorcs left in every pro-Ukrainian video. This lecture is not only for reaching the baby zhiorcs, but is upon myself as a learning tool and is upon others like myself, who are motivated to invest our thinking and our better hearts Under the Heavens to do some good on Earth before our days here are over. My message in a nutshell is that humans are created with potential for evil but also have capacity to develop skills of restraint and innovation, based in the powers of intelligence which can also be developed and made dominant over the natural course of descent into practices of greedy evil. But seeing this, then we are faced with the paradox of when certain people develop all their powers, including intelligence, to enslave higher sensibility and moral aestheticism into the most calculated practices of evil. Do such people exist among us? I tell you, they are everywhere, and a little of this exists in everyone. But you are ultimately more capable for defending the innocent when you actually possess personal knowledge and memory of your own travel into the support matrix of evil whereby you experienced the thrill of making gains of control and triumph over others, in violation of their cleaner personal worlds. Most people do possess some life history for theft, family and office political subterfuge, school years' bullying, and worse... so we are more naive and vulnerable when there is particular void of experience.
Many people claim that their posts are being deleted. Key words must be avoided, they say, and maybe it is possible to alter the spelling to make it fly on ewe-toob. So, I am experimenting with certain editing to see if my lecture can survive (elsewhere it has not survived). This top post must survive the censoring machinery, and then I can attempt a reply to myself below with the stronger lecture. Freedom of speech is OK by me but the world's politics needs to evolve based on the insights of the truly gifted and practicing-altruistic. The world should be led not from the crotch but from the brain despite the greedy-evil linkage to the crotch by the endocrine system. If you can't follow these arguments and share respect about the constructive intent, and if you can't somehow contribute larger than a crotch-anchored quip, then I say you are part of the problem that inevitably DOES destroy the entire world in the next mere decades, characterized in over-population and war for total triumph of ownership of all remaining resources. It takes genuine, sincere work and deep insighting to see our way through our sick predicament in being "humans" Under the Heavens. Either I am demonstrating a higher level, or others are demonstrating a lower level. But the lower examples DO NOT save the Earth from the horrible future descending over the innocent. The innocent world is being dragged into something most sinister, and its power is not defeated by mere quippery waged in ewe-toob comments. We must publicly disclose and take-on the entire predicament, even if the endocrine system punishes us daily for doing so. We can intercede such that war becomes an artifact of the dreaded past. We must usurp the intents and purposes of the crotch-anchored endocrine system, using our gifts of intelligence and openly extolling a proper moral-aestheticism Under the Heavens. I'll leave it to others to say who, and how many DNA copies of oneself should be perpetrated into the population - but this is a key item among the set of all our predicaments, while world population is still climbing toward MASSIVE finale of disaster.
Reply, as foretold: People fall into discernible groups: Demons devoted/united to DIVIDE and CONQUER versus Angels devoted/united to Empower and Set Free. The world's top demons "get along" for now. Everyone else is trapped in dynamic equilibrium process of trying to hold/gain continuity and power, but these last remain a bit vague and undefined within ourselves and in our communication methods for purposes of wielding and grooming some sort of ulterior advantage. We are not perfect, we are sinners and we MUST continually update our position Under the Heavens. Even our arguments are tools of our willful subterfuge against others unless we advance enough to desire and wage remedy over the flawed condition. There is a thick flow of propaganda and dim-wit soldiers exuding all day every day out of ruzzia, and yet the (bribed, corrupted) leaders of the Christian Orthodoxy there are mostly steadfast and vocal supporters of the shames and evils the kremlin is largely responsible for, trying to spread the disease over the entire Earth and throughout the living purposes of mankind.
I hope people can work with this, my strategy and overview in tackling the predicament from my safe location on Earth, to make a progress for the benefit of innocent Ukrainian culture and population, and innocent people moreover, of all ages and non-destructive dedications in life:
There are usually some pro-ruzzian comments and I wish I could walk in their shoes through childhood to record WHAT WENT WRONG for them. They post very poorly structured quips (citing "genocide" by Bandera or Azov in Donbas), striving for a punching power that is based in a cheap "hit and run" strategy, and likely punctuated in privacy with something like: "ha ha ha, I got them with that! I'm powerful and I feel sexy now! I can take on the vulnerable targets soon, the apples of my eye within striking range, and do so in true self-esteem both before and after." Propaganda over the pathetic, cowardly self, is what this game of quippery really is, in order to strut a bit bolder yet always deeply doubting in the future if it requires genuine friendship with innocent people. They don't want such genuine friendships, they want sex-trophies for the scrapbook all piled up in form of a pedestal on which to stand immortal in the face of any God. They want riches with which to finance their games, which sometimes or eventually includes taking lives of decent, innocent people.
OK, pro-ruzzians, let's look at history. Maybe you can explain the 1932 holodomor against Ukraine by Stalin and the sycophants (your kind). The holodomor was also unprovoked, except that the Ukrainian culture represented a future democracy, setting Stalin full of EVIL IN MOTION. It is said that about 7-million ethnics of Ukraine were exterminated then, and perhaps 20-million ethnics to the East, Chechnya, Georgia, and all the way across Kazahkstan, etc. because these people were likely to eventually either endorse democracy or militarize against the kremlin system. The armies under Stalin were DUMB EVIL IN MOTION against innocent, unprepared, peaceful people working their farms and small industries. Bandera was a reaction to nazis rising in Germany in the 1930's, and they fled to Ukraine and helped Ukraine defend itself during WW2. The birth of Azov is basically the same type of reaction to DUMB, SICK EVIL IN MOTION. After the holodomor, and after Stalin's alliance with Hitler 1939-41, these reactions are entirely sensible and needed. After the holodomor, there is NO REASON to ever again allow ruzzians (mosscrewzzians) to maintain any political influence in Donbas or the rest of Ukraine - there is only reason to expel all moscrewzzians from Ukraine, forever, and NEVER forget what the DUMB, SICK EVIL of ruzzia did to Ukraine. A proof of this argument's relevance TODAY is that YOU, pro-ruzzian, see fit to post your stupid, ignorant quip still TODAY - and there are many thousands of mosscrewzzian sycophants JUST LIKE YOU who would take endless glee in seeing all Ukrainians exterminated. The origin of nazism in the 20th century can be said to be the kremlin, and it was in FULL BLOOM by time of the 1932 holodomor. The events bothered - yet inspired - Hitler SO MUCH that Hitler made a plan to continue extermination of ethnics from Berlin to moscow, and to infiltrate Ukaine and Belarus with war machinery sufficient to then betray Stalin and take moscow - putting an end to the greater threat from the original nazis. The nationalism and nazism of Germany was in response to the master-race culture of ruzzia under the kremlin nazis which posed a threat to all of Europe then, and today this same trend by the kremlin is still percolating at high energy with the same old dream to exterminate all other cultures that do not assimilate into ruzzian nazi culture.
I shall cite a typical provoking quip now, and tell its pro-ruzzian author this: YOU are actually declaring yourself to be part of the propaganda culture under the kremlin nazis. You see fit to declare: "After 8 years of attempted genocide in the Donbas, Fascist Ukraine really thinks we are stupid!" when the activity in Donbas has actually been to restore Ukraine out of the trend by kremlin's goons ever since 1932 when the goons arrived in effort to convert ALL of Ukraine into ruzzian nazism. "Genocide" was NEVER practiced by Ukraine, by Azov, or by Bandera in Donbas. The genocide was practiced by kremlin nazis and their goon squads of sycophants and psychopaths. So, honestly here, pro-ruzzians, let's ponder the shallowness of your typical comments - please explain to the world WHO IS STUPID and WHO IS FASCIST or nazi - give it a try by reply.
As for corruption, desperation in ability to LIVE in the face of dangers and political perversion causes ordinary decent people to apply various practices which we today can correctly define and detail as being, technically or generally, corruption needing remedy for the betterment of society. This desperation and its effect on people is quite universal, and even the strongest people become worn down and "guilty" over time. To apply labels of corruption toward Ukrainian culture is NOT a moral thing to do without fully explaining what the harm has been due to the holodomors, the little one under Lenin, 1917-21, and the massive one under Stalin, 1932-34. Now we have the 2022-2025? holodomor under putin. The purposes and the outcome of these events was to alter (exterminate) the culture in favor of the kremlin imposed culture of sycophancy and desperation by which the masses would be "willing" cannon-fodder in any future war campaigns for empire expansion and they would be incapable in their own right for promoting democracy in the face of the destructive forces embodied in the kremlin and its pervasive political structure, including the corruptions and perversions made/required to be inherent in all the officers. Any man not OPENLY pondering and challenging the future on Earth in allowing these forces to gain hold and larger reserves of mineral wealth by devouring nearby peoples and their farms is part of the complicit or warious demon group and has forsaken the broader moral purposes of the Angelic group. Appeasement is not a practical solution UNLESS one is willing to submit, assimilate, evolve, unite, and fully succumb into the purposes of the demon group. This does not demonstrate love of the principles espoused in the Bible, so far as I have come to understand it and myself and the path traveled by Jesus (who wielded a sword when time was certain of no other way).
And Oh, Here are the best books available for understanding the kremlin nazism: "Red Famine" by Anne Applebaum; "Bloodlands Europe Between Hitler and Stalin" by Timothy Snyder; "Winter Is Coming" by Garry Kasparov. If you are not hopelessly stupid, you can actually read these books and possibly emerge to hold genuine self-esteem in discussing the conflict in Donbas 1932 to today. For now you hold only hate and ignorance because of your predicaments in life, and you attack innocent people to make trophies of them, in compensation for your internal misery. I apologize to those of you who can yet sense the glimmering path to salvation by undertaking courageous abandonment of the inculcations you received from your parents, village leaders, and the mordorian politics which are perpetually emanating from the kremlin. I wish you all manner of luck and support during the rest of your days or weeks here Under the Heavens. Start today if possible.

For me, it would be interesting to hear the - or some kind of - psychological/experiential evolution of life, society, different societies or states, and view of the world.
Like how could you describe the previous naivete and the current reality? I think this is hard for me to understand in fellow citizens: how can I trust them not to be too naive, still? - Well, as far as they are pacifists, I cannot and I'm enraged by their naivete.
Also, reflections on fear would also be interesting. In what way fear has modulated your perspective during the past 2-3 years? How does fear affect the behavior of people over there and how does that changes from day to day?
And the same comparative reflections on getting used to different things, is also interesting psychologically, and could teach us something we don't understand.
The general format would be interesting and enlightening: Comparing things before the war VS now, and how different kind of things present themselves or changes things as a function of time from peacetime to war.
The cheerful positive energy I see many times from Ukraine brings me joy and happiness. Greetings from Finland 💪🙂✌

Укаринцам надо бы не "сидеть по убежищам", а, наоборот, всеми силами помогать ЗСУ и уничтожать оккупантов. Это единственный выход. Иначе Украину просто уничтожат и на ее территории будет российский бандитский беспредел.
Это тебе не средневековье, где куча ополченцев с вилами и палками может иметь какое-то значение в результате войны. Сегодня войны выигрываются не пехотой а артиллерией\ракетами\техникой. У нас ее нету в количествах достаточных для победы.
