    I had both Staks and Psycho. My version of Staks did not come with a trailer though. I used to use Psycho as a four legged animal bot as much as his proper bot mode.

    Gobots factoid: Psycho gets his name from the fact that he's based on the Psychoroid, a vehicle from the anime "Space Adventure Cobra." The characters in his cockpit are also from the anime (the chromed one is indeed a female android). The Japanese version of the toy also fired missiles out of its head - this feature was covered up in the Gobots release. :)

    The Machine Robo name for this guy is Big Trailer Robo. He appeared in Revenge of Cronos. The bad guys attacked him and his friend Tough Trailer vowed revenge.Funny thing about him on the Challenge of the GoBots show is that in the show he once wore a Power Suit! Yeah, that's crazy, since his toy would never fit inside one. In the recent GoBots/Transformers crossover story by Jim Sorenson called "Echoes and Fragments" he was again part of the Courageous combiner team, which fought Devastator.

    In my own story Psycho was the architect to to the destruction of Gobatron. The Renegade Super Gobots where a force to be reckoned with, with destroyer being the ironic voice of reason and the one who tried to stop the others. Sadly he failed. The Surviving Gobots were welcome to Cybertron as refugees.

    Yeah that was definitely the weirdest part about those super gobots.. Yet somehow, I still love them!

  • @1sdrummer2

    Gobots were actually better made than Transformers. I 3 Gobots break on me but several Transformers. Also the Gobots line was more consistent. Late model G1 Transformers were almost unrecognizable from first wave. The most common term was big, plastic bricks.

    • @1sdrummer2
      @1sdrummer2 6 лет назад +1

      DarkAlex1978 yeah, we know. Also Robotech started off as Marcross, Roadbuster and Whirl from Transformers were originally made by Bandai and from the Dorovan anime, Voltron was originally 3 separate anime that were brought over to the US as one related cartoon series (well 2 were; the third was scrspped aftet the vehicle team Voltron failed to catch on). Also all this is irrelevant. Whatever their origin, they were brought over here, packaged, sold, and marketed as Transformers and Gobots (and Robotech, Voltron, etc). I watched Transformers and Gobots cartoons, I had a Gobots lunch box. So to say they do not exist because they were originally something else is absurd. The back stories, characters were all different. Even some of the toys were repainted. And still, even if you do not accept all that, you can still compare the quality of the toys regardless of name.

    • @1sdrummer2
      @1sdrummer2 6 лет назад +1

      DarkAlex1978 The G1 cartoon was created to promote the toy line once Hasbro had set up the licensing (same as Gobots). Hanna-Barbara did a better job of capturing the toy likeness while Sunbow took more "liberties" with their designs. The biggest thing that helped Transformers was Takara made the decision to change the Diaclone and Micromen to Transformers. Both the original toy lines had severely declined in popularity and the Transformers name was very popular. Bandai never did. In fact, Tonka was only one company it had licensing agreements with. In Japan they retained the Machine Robo name, in England they were Robo Machines, and in Australia they were Machine Men. So there was no overall brand ID. And when both lines wained in popularity, Bandai didn't care, they just kept making them under the Machine Robo name in Japan. Takara, however, because they had changed the lines name to Transformers, they were more invested in keeping the toy line going. Also the American company Tonka went out of business and was bought by Hasbro. Those two things combined helped kill the Gobot name even though both sold well, both went out of fashion about the same time, and Gobots were of equal to superior quality. Personally, if someone knows both toy lines by their original names, fine. I had a couple original Diaclone toys as well because Takara tried bringing them over directly but failed to catch on in the early 80s. But my whole relationship with both toy lines, how they related to my childhood and life was as Transformers and Gobots.

      Gobots were more fun for me as a kid since the transformation was simpler. you could do it faster which made it more fun as a kid since it didn't ruin immersion.

    • @1sdrummer2
      @1sdrummer2 6 лет назад +1

      T2rx6 I would push back a little on that. Outside of Megatron; none of the Transformers were that hard to transform. Pull legs down, pull or flip arms out, pop the head up, done. I will say Transformers had more parts forming than Gobots, which meant more pieces to lose. I loved both as a kid, I liked Gobots slightly better but only slightly. A lot of the hate they get comes from people who never actually had any.

    • @T2rx6

      1sdrummer2 typically tf's had more steps so the time to change took more than a second or two. They weren't difficult persay but definitely took more time to do a group of three of then a group of three gobots.

    It seems Staks was meant to hold the "Super Gobots" that are all larger than normal Gobots. Psycho is one of them and you're probably familiar with Bugbite. I have a black porche one called Herr Fiend

    • @T2rx6
      @T2rx6  2 года назад +2

      Yes he was most definitely intended to hold th4e super gobots. They fit perfectly in his truck. I think I've got a review of Bugbite on YT as well. There was a number of super gobots. A silver porsche (Baron Von Joy), a red DAtsun/Fairlady z (Zeemon), the beetle (bug bite) a tank (destroyer) the black porsche (herr fiend) Psycho of course,. Those wer eall series 1, Staks came from series 2 where they had another tank defendor, leader-1, spay-c cy-kill and warpath. I think from series 1 and 2 I personally was only missing LEader 1 and Destroyer). I didn't have much of series 3 (the last set) I think I only had Super couper, throttle (a motorcycle) and Clutch (a red pickup). But they also had an oversized vamp, night fright (which is a cool hind helicopter), raizor who is this protype helocopter jet thing, and spy eye who looks suspiciously like that drone character from the 2007 transformers movie line of toys.. hmm

  • @T2rx6

    @mantis999999999 I think it could be that Optimus was a much better Truck to robot, to be honest. But I ALWAYS loved gobots, and my friend had more gobots than transformers, so Stacks earned a place in my heart as Optimus' misshapen cousin.. :)
    I still love Staks, and I'll always keep old bent wheel (but how does thick plastic like that bend???), but I still wouldn't mind a nice minty fresh one with some smoke stacks!
