All the best wishes to Emily, hope you guys stay healthy. Best thing this week - school holidays ;), a traded 100% lucky Charmander and some chocolate.
Thank you, awesome on the 100%! I got a non shiny 100% and have a shiny 98% from the old one. I wasn’t sure if I’d enjoy a repeat community day but it was fun.
Thats annoying for Emily, i bet she's not too happy about it. Hopefully you can make it fun for her at home, i guess it was probably going to happen at some point but holiday is probably the worst time for her. Fingers crossed Oli is having some good days this week at school, it might be he's just ready for a break. Luke's old teacher would often say he struggled after about 4/5 weeks and getting him through the next couple till holidays was often a nightmare. I've not heard anything from his current teacher even though I've asked 3 times on an email, so im guessing no news is good news?
@@carolinebeckwith948 fingers crossed he’s feeling more comfortable with the new teachers then! Oli has had a better week, hoping today is good and then he’s had a pretty smooth week. He was delighted last night his new tablet arrived. Emily seems ok. She’s binging some shows and gaming with her mates, she’s sad not to be going anywhere next week though!
@@SheepdogSays i bet he was, thats good for him. Hopefully today will be at least an ok day then hoilday so he can reset. Luke has changed 100% since being at his new school he goes in everyday no screaming ect, he does homework and best of all he says he loves it there so for me its worth every penny. Thats good she is having fun anyway, not much else she can do really its annoying but it just has to be done. Maybe a few extra treats.
You should look into overpayments on the mortgage, pay the extra £40 if you can easily afford it so it’s the same payments if you can and you can and chip away at the interest. Nearly an extra £1000 over 2 years paid off. Just make sure it’s done as an overpayment so you’re not obliged to pay it if you can’t afford to.
If he gets place at SEND school he would be eligible for free transport, the council do organise it, but some schools do the actual transport, it depends on school and area. In Devon the LA organises it but the LA SEND schools have their own transport, but all other schools have it organised by the LA.
Hi Sheepdog, we are all ok, similar to you I guess up and down, Seth doing okay with new placement they come to our house daily for three hours which is tiring for me but we go to a local town on Fridays and out and about, its all limited by Covid I guess, my older son at mainstream GCSE year. the best thing that happened to me was that his computing teacher gave me really good feedback about how well he is doing in computing which really cheered me up, the year has been so chaotic I think I became really pessimistic about everything. Glad all is okay, Ollie's school sound great, Autism Outreach sounds AWESOME wish we had that in Devon. If you do ever decide you want to go to that school you mentioned being full is not a reason to refuse a place, you have to call an Emergency EHCP Review and say current school not working and then you can name the other school, if they refuse you can appeal, most good SEND are always full, so many people have to do that its really common, hopefully the current place will work out, are you thinking ahead about where he might go for secondary? Its all like wading through treacle at the moment I guess, we are all plodding along, your writing sounds amazing, I have been doing some crafting, I have written a few books non fiction. i love writing fiction but no good plus I have terrible neck and shoulder pains these days bad for typing lol! Hope half term goes ok, shame about Emily having to isolate, wish it would all just go away asap! take care!x
Nice one on the feedback, it’s great to hear when lessons are going well. The rest of this week was good for Oli so I’m hoping AO are having an impact. We will see how this plays out but with secondary school we think a different school will be better than trying to struggle through mainstream. Kids are horrible at secondary! Sorry to hear about the pain preventing you from writing. Maybe speech to text would help you tell stories in book form without hurting yourself? I think isolating is making Emily quite grumpy so far. She’s not been happy this weekend!
@@SheepdogSays Thanks! Seems it’s up and down for everyone, seen the news about the vaccine so feeling bit more optimistic. My fiftieth birthday is on 1st January and first day of Brexit, I guess we just have to try to see the humour in it all, even though it’s really not that funny, have a good week, take care.
Same birthday as Emily! Much as Brexit sucks I’m trying to avoid thinking about how it’ll affect us all. I heard they’ve found already existing vaccines that may help against it which is handy! Less chance of side effects.
@@emilygilbert9892 it still goes to 2 panels so can still take months, it not case of ringing up sen school got place send child, i know cause my son got ehcp n in sen school n for sen school n school with base it took months xxxx
@@mlpp3621 The legal process is to call an Emrgency EHCP review, state current school not working and then going through EHCP review and renaming school process as far as I believe but could well be wrong, it does take months whatever way you do it, in Devon only goes to one panel if you already have the EHCP, 2 if you are requesting new EHCP from scratch, it is quicker second time around and there are legal timelines to adhere, but yeah need to do it sooner than later, I was surprised that Kev Chapman was so optimistic about getting Andy a place quickly, I think his area had really good SEND oftsed, Devon where I live has an inadequate one, that does not happen in Devon, parents I know have to pay for solicitors, go to tribunals etc, I dont know what leics like where he is going, hopefully as Peterborough good they will sort it from start to finish rather than Leics taking resposnsibility.
Just checked Leic is another good one, he is so lucky as about 50% of council areas are inadequate, I guess he probably checked in before hadn , I know Essex, Sussex, Devon, East Riding etc all inadequatex
I think if Sheepdog is thinking of moving at secondary level could think about small private non SEND schools, a lot in Devon go to those as very small class sizes eg about 7 kids but might not be able to address all of his sons needs, he seems very bright so needs to check an SEND school does GCSEs etc, I would think a school suited to Kevs son might not be suitable, the schools are all very diffierent and some are for kids with autism and learning disabilities some are not, need to do a lot of research, in Devon we have mainstream secondaries with units attached that could also workx
The orange thing? It’s a toy axolotl the kids got me for my birthday. The ‘flask’ is two cans of deodorant side by side. I really need to start tidying the background up.
It’s on the list of things I hope don’t happen, I’d rather he just didn’t feel the need to hit out. We’re trying to get him to react differently but you’re right that eventually someone will hit back harder.

This ‘Mad superstition from Irish people’ wasn’t so mad in the end was it Sheepdog 🤣☘️☘️
My mum’s family are all West Ham fans too, so they’d be loving it!
If you're self isolating, thd family has to too and it could be dangerous if the family goes out during those 14 days just in case she has Covid.
I checked and we only have to isolate if she has symptoms. She has to isolate regardless.
its only if she starts showing symptoms that the whole family have to isolate if she doesnt show symptoms the others can still go about as normal ,
