- The Goth family have been pretty well known in the franchise since the beginning and even had an entire storyline revolve around them in one of the games. Their iconic. They’re superstars and today we’re going to be talking about the evolution of the Goth family.
So there were a few pre made households in the sims and the Goth family were one of them! Living at no sim lane the family consisted of Bella, her husband Mortimore and their child daughter Cassandra goth.
Bella Goth is represented as an elegant and athletic sim who also has a creative streak. Their home has a piano and she will often autonomously go and play music.
The Sims 1 was also released on console, although like with the other sims console games it wasn’t quite the same as the pc version, the Goth family’s personalities are pretty much the same and they look as similar as they can to the pc version as well, Mortimore is a b level movie star in this game. Michael Bachelor is also in the sims on console, although again isn’t directly connected to the Goths at this stage.
The Sims bustin out was then released on console only and the Goth family made a return! It looks like this game was set prior to the sims 1 because Bella and Mortimore are there, and they are married but Cassandra isn’t so it seems like this game was either set before baby cassie was born or after she had moved out.
The Sims 2 really went all in with the storytelling, every base game neighbourhood had their own story and in the neighbourhood of Pleasant View the goth family were the centre of the story.
Bella Goth has gone missing, it is believed that she was abducted by aliens one night and no one saw her since. Her disappearance quickly became the biggest mystery in the sims.
The Sims 3 was set 25 years ahead of the sims 1 and 50 years ahead of the sims 2, so we wouldn’t be getting any abduction answers here, but a better understanding of how the Goth family were as children. Needless to say, Cassandra and Alexander are not featured in this game.
The story goes that before Pleasantview there was Sunset Valley, a neighbourhood founded by Gunther and Cornelia Goth.
Bella obviously has her maiden name of bachelor and lives with her parents Simis and Jocasta and brother Michael. The sims 3 introduced traits to give sims a bit more personality. Bella goth’s traits are lucky, brave and good. She likes ratatouille, the colour red and custom music.
The sims 4 then came along in 2014 and featured Bella, Mortimore, Cassandra and Alexander. The sims 4 is set on an alternative timeline so everything I just told you, don’t worry about it, doesn’t matter in this game. But who knows! Maybe the next sims instalment will follow the storyline laid out by the previous games.

The most memorable Goth moment I ever had was in Sims 2. I'd got Cassandra and Don married and their life was pretty chaotic. Don went to work, leaving a pregnant Cassandra at home. By the time he got home, his kitchen had burnt down, the newborn baby was laying in the middle of the ashes, and Cassandra had taken herself off to bed!!! She's been my favourite Goth ever since😂

Okay, so listening to your video a theory popped into my head. The Sims 4 is an alternate timeline. What if that alternate time line was created by Alexander Goth? If the author of the book really is Mortimer and Bella’s son, what if he wrote the book and got it to the past to save his family and in writing it, he did just that. Except he doesn’t exist any more. Sure they have a son named Alexander and he looks and dresses the same, but he’s a child when his sister is still a teen vs. in The Sims 2 where he’s a child to his sister’s adult and getting married. Not sure of the timing, so it’s possible it still would work if he’s almost a teen in The Sims 2.
But what if? Do you think Alexander Goth created the alternate time line to save his family?
I 100% support this.
Plus if you keep the career Bella originally has in sims 4 she does eventually get abducted by aliens again and Cassandra is the one who wants to get to the bottom of it now also Cassandra has the gloomy trait in 4, making me believe she knows a lot of the secrets the family is trying to pretend doesn’t exist anymore. She also likes to write which is cool because if you get skilled enough you can write science fiction. What if she’s secretly writing about Bella’s abductions? Then Dina and Nina are in 4 and Bellas job keeps her on secret missions as well making it easy for Dina to charm her way back into Mortimer’s life.
And with us getting the crumplebottoms back in Cottage living it makes me think that Sims 4 is set around sims 2 when they had both Alex and Cassandra, it seems like a continuation of that story where we’re supposed to create the rest of the narrative. And even though Don is a young adult in 4 and Cassandra is still a teen Cassandra does seem like she was at the tail ends of her teens and on her way to young adult. Sims 3 must have been when Alex went back in time and to give the book to the past but it might not have been him who wrote it it might’ve been Cassandra and she signed his name as a guise and Alex used the time machine to get it there or maybe Mortimer wrote it under Alex name AND made the time machine to deliver it since he used to be a mad scientist in the past and he is also a writer in 4. It’s a lot of clues to pick up in 4 on the low. Not to mention strangerville and the mother alien situation we have to solve which sounds a lot like strangetown the place where Bella was trying to hide out from the aliens

I like to set up my Sims 4 game that it is a few years before Bella's abduction. I age down Alexander to a toddler. I still am not over how there were no toddlers from the beginning.
I've been replaying the sims 2 recently and I'm at the point where Alexander is going to college. Idk if it's a glitch or what but when it went to the cut scene of the parent dropping off their teen it was Bella who dropped him off!! I got so excited but off she just disappeared again after that 💔💔
Maybe it’s an alternate timeline because of Alexander 🧐
The Sims 4 as a whole being The Good Place wall is a perfect analogy. As much money as I've dumped into Sims 4 I'd forgive it if they'd build the stories in the Sims 5.
My theory on Bella and how it blends in with sims 4:
Dina and Nina Caliente where sent to pleasentview to report on the lives, habits and tasks of the sims. In the beginning they took their job very serious and gave report after report. One night the girls learned about simoleons and woohoo’s. And were forgetting their job to report. The aliens knew about Don, and how the girls frequently visited him.Bella knew Don wasn’t faithful to her daughter, so she went to him to confront him about it. So on the night of Bella’s disappearance they abducted a female at Dons, thinking it was one of the sisters, but it wasn’t.
Bella offered to gave the aliens the information they needed to know, since she knew all the secrets in town.
Once done they couldn’t sent Bella back, that would ruin their missions. Killing her was morally not a option.
Therefore the Sims 4, A alternative timeline of Bella’s “perfect world” so she would suspect a thing.
All the people she should hate in her life are living in a dessert while she and her family are in the suburb.

I never thought I'd get so addicted to The Goth Family when I started playing The Sims 4. Now I can't get enough of them. 😍 Their story is truly fascinating, especially Bella Goth. I just finished giving them a makeover. ❤️ I actually gave Mortimer and Bella two more daughters. Their names are Isabella Goth, named after Bella, and Charlotte Goth. Isabella takes after her mother Bella. And Charlotte is shaping up to be the sweet little black sheep of the family because she's the only Goth(so far at least)who ISN'T into gothic style whereas even her older sister Isabella who had plenty of girly things in her room still has some gothic style.
It's actually Mortimer is a member of the Crumplebottom family. Agnes has no blood relation to the Goths. 😊

@@sinnebunZ Cornelia and Agnes are sisters. Cornelia is originally a Crumplebottom. She got married into the Goth family and became Cornelia Goth. Agnes never got married into the Goth family. She got married to Eric Darling who eventually died of drowning.
I have been creating a save file with all the past townies. I've done the Goths, Crumplebottom, Bachelors, Caliente, and all Strangetown Townies so far.
In summary, I am a whore for lore. 😂

They said it was about time for a Townie overhaul and how they were “currently in the process of updating NPCs in The Sims 4 including visuals as well as their lore”.
So given the fact that in the Season of Selves announcement it was revealed that we’re going to get at least one last patch this year and that is going to “add dimension to the sims lives” I wonder if this is the case or if they’re planning to add other gameplay related features and then (hopefully in the near future) the lore update 🤞🏻

i think that the fact that bella works as a scientist in sims 4 indicates that the sims team might think of an alternate timeline/multiverse narrative to further continue their lore. parallel universes are pretty popular in fiction these days, and the sims has always been about the zeitgeist after all.
that could be very fun and clever if done right (aka if they manage to make stories and memories more complex and engaging in sims 5), i could totally see an alternate timeline where alexander is a writer who mysteriously has memories of bella's abduction despite none of the other sims having them, and he could be married with a high ranking scientist to add to the sci-fi narrative. that's what i tried to create in my last gameplay with them lol
My personal headcannon is that sims 4 Bella is an alien replacement and the real Bella is still out there somewhere. It's a storyline I'd like to actually play out some time lol

Crumple bottom is my favorite goth. I played her in the third one and got her perfect library.
Ive been thinking about it and you know in the sims 4 when you tell jokes you can press "Tell joke about aliens" I did not think about much but every time I pressed it I now think of Bella. So every time Im in my sims 4 game I pretend that It brings bella's memory back. WAIT SOMEONE MAKE A MOD FOR THAT
In sims 2. I can't remember which house you play, but Bella would be returned by the spaceship and go home. And she'll be playable afterwards

I’m in the process of continuing lore from the Goths and also some of the hidden lore presented in TS4, I think a lot of people believe that Alexander ended up saving his family hence the book.
My theory (it’s still a WIP) is:
Sims 4 is definitely set in an alternate timeline, I made Mortimer and Alexander (with growing together) have a difficult relationship being that, Alexander knows it was basically his fault why Bella was abducted many times, but Alexander is trying to have a good life, and I’ve made him slightly paranoid with all the events that happened which he still remembers, he's also referred to as an old soul, also since in TS3 he ended up having a wife, which in this timeline she either does not exist/ or is around the same age as him so she doesn’t know who he is and he’s on a quest to try and keep his family together, and find his soulmate.
In this version of TS4, Bella growing up had aspirations to be an actress, and ended up being famous with the Goths being famous for Bella starring in many films including "Aliens in Willow Creek." (very suspicious" "Strangetown Phenomena" and guess whos the directors… THE CALIENTE SISTERS.
im more than happy for anyone to add their ideas, or what they think as i do (hope) it would be cool to have this story not just as a save file but a machinima (i can't make them id need someones help lol) for the sims community. 💕
What I think is weird is Mortimer and Bella are the exact same age in The Sims 3 (7 days until becoming a teen) but it in The Sims 2 Mortimer is much older than Bella.

The goth family is just the sims version of the Addams family.
I just made a family to rival/parallel the Goths. I named them the Grimm family. However in my game play, the patriarch was the best friend of Bella when she was a Bachelor and Mortimer joined their circle when his family moved to town. After a betrayal by Mortimer, the patriarch moved away for school, met his wife, had kids, and then moved back in a lot across from the Goth home.
I think Sims 4 left it open ended for us to do our own thing with them. I threw in a gallery remaster of the Goths into their house, used a mod to ... ahm... delete the original family and now this evil alternate dark universe version of them live in their house. 👀
Honestly though, I'm cool with the Sims 4 restarting the timeline. I don't like that some of the relationships just DIDN'T HAPPEN all of the sudden, but I'm not against rebooting the timeline with all the prominent Sims having a clean slate... and yes I am as old school as it gets, I started with Sims 1 back in the day and played every Sims along the way. This is an OG Sims player defending Sims 4. Blasphemy. 😂
