I loved the tug of war in "Blitzkrieg!" and was curious to try another game with that mechanic. The artwork, component quality, and the insert all have the high quality that I've come to expect from Key Master. My only quibble with the game is with the rule book. It contains multiple typos (two versus to, plays versus players, etc) and misspellings. These errors are corrected in the pdf available from Key Master's website. There was one significant difference between the pdf and physical rule book that I spotted. The physical rule book stated that cards are discarded face down, but the updated pdf states they are discarded face up.
I'm grateful for the updated pdf file but still felt annoyed that these corrections couldn't have been made prior to printing. Especially since one of the typos makes specific rules unclear.

Yep. I do not have the game yet (ordered) but wonder which PDF you look at. Since indeed the PDF on the publishers`s website does not have the typos but states that cards are discarded face down. Which is incorrect, as confirmed by the publisher - face up is correct.

When I last checked the Caper Europe rules PDF at Key Master Games' website stated that the discards are face up. They may have updated it since you last checked?

Could be. In any case, I agree with you that the rulebook mistakes are dissapointing .

After a couple plays, I think I'll still reach for Blitzkrieg first, but this is a "prettier" game that will appeal to a different group of players so it'll definitely stay on my shelf.

We've really been enjoying the tug of war in Watergate and am looking forward to getting this to the table. Totally agree about the production quality as well, gorgeous game.
I just searched to see if you had a tug of war list/video and you do! I'm sure I watched it in the past but just don't recall, so I'm excited to check that out as well.

Indeed! I'm glad you mentioned that, though, as I need to mention this game in the description of my tug-of-war video.

Caper sounds fun. My favorite game featuring tug-of-war is Unforgiven.

Totally agree with the (many) positive aspects around the design and production of this game. I wanted to like it so much - but it fell totally flat for us. Not for being a tug of war (Watergate also is and does it wonderfully), but it's... empty. A lot of take-that effects, but basically it's just the tug, with a bit of an extra point salad.

Caper is my most played game last month. I love that they included four cities in the base game. Each city plays at a different difficulty and style. I've played three cities and they're all different puzzles.
This game feels a bit like Hanamikoji and Battlelines melded together.
