What do you suggest to tackle dips in the head? Or areas where there is sparse hair growth ?

So if there’s ever dips in the head, we treat this area as a “dark spot”. So what you want to do is start from a higher guard and work your way down to lower guards while going over that same spot until you find a length that matches the rest of your fade. So if you have a guideline using a 1 guard, and there’s a dip in the head within that guideline, you go to a half guard in that spot using your corners. If it’s still looks dark nice to no guard lever open and so on until the color matches the rest of that guideline.
And as for sparse hair growth that’s a trickier one. You want to leave the hair longer in that spare area. For example let’s say you are going to put in your #2 guard guideline, but toward the hairline his hair is thinner. What you want to do is not take that area down to a 2. Depending how thin, you want to leave that area at a 3 or even 4 guard. It’s all about giving the illusion that the hair is the same length.
But depending how extreme a dip or sparse area is, sometimes you can only do so much. I hope this helps answer your question!

@@noahvaldez4508 yes thanks Noah! Also do you find ring lighting super important? I have a lot of overhead lights but no lights that are directly facing the fade. I'm asking cuz sometimes fade looks good and then when they get up I find all the mini patches. What do you suggest?

@@ef783 yea the best thing when possible is to have light coming from all directions, that way there are no shadows casted. Light coming from only above is hard to work with because it makes all the hairs cast a shadow below it. I try to have lights on the ceiling, then coming from my station/mirror, and a ring light to the side.
      Hope this helps
