I used a bit of this technique yesterday on a grassy patch by the beach, I did the rod arches x 2. I used orange electrical conduit (PVC PIPE) and twisted them into the ground/grass , twisting back and forth as they dug deeper gave the leg support. I used fibreglass tent rods which weren’t as good as the aluminium ones but I placed an old cotton doona/quilt cover over the fibreglass tent rod frames. I cut it open the doona/quilt cover so so it was a single longer layer of cotton, I pulled the cotton over the frames and tied knots in the corners which I used to peg the corners into the grass over the frame. It bade a great, breathable little cave for the kids to play in and had plenty of shade. I got the idea from your videos so I appreciate it. I didn’t have everything you had so I had to DIY with some items I had around the house, all in the space of a few hours as I had to come up with a quick solution. I am now going to play around and come up with some other items to use, I live near the beach and want to check out this fabric tape you use in local stores here in Aus. I might even just get a sheet sewn so it ps secured. Have you considered using g two of these frames and over lapping like a tent does? You could always cable tie the top crossing of the rod frames so they stay together. Anyway, thanks for the tips because it’s got me being a McGuyver and thinking of some other styles of DIY shade
If i were to use pvc what size is okay and how long should each length be? Also how deep should they be dug with the tool? Live this project. I gathered everything so far except the pipe.
@@blessedandbeautifullife Possibly, but depends on the strength of your tent poles and the wind. They don't support the tent poles above ground like the umbrella poles do.
Sorry for asking a million questions, Do you think this larger sized canopy would work with the dry bag cord anchor method (with the cord tied between the two poles at the bottom) vs. Using the umbrella poles (I don't have access to foraging these)?
Using the anchor and cord method is patented by Shibumi, although I've been told was in use by people's of the Pacific islands for a very long time. That is why I show an alternative method of using the umbrella poles to support the shade.

Shorten them so they are 20-25 ft and connect them together. 14 ft poles will be smaller in diameter and more flimsy than poles intended for 20-25ft lengths.
I really can’t stand people like you seriously I mean yes you have a video. Yes, you’ve listed all the things but like. It’s easy …..first of all you’re maniac. This is so complicated and ingenious at the same time, but the average person doesn’t have all these things laying around and there is some aero dynamics and science involved, this is out of the ordinary and amazing ! Thanks for sharing
Fair question, I have some similar to this and there's an anchoring option. On the corners have Para cords that could be used to anchor down. It becomes a tent and yes not all beaches get a breeze all the time.

Wow! Thank you for sharing!!!
Wow thank you!!
Fantastic work! Thanks for the education!
Your welcome

Qual matéria são as varetas ?
Alumínio ou fibra de vidro
Thank you for sharing. In today's world, with inflation making everything cost more, this made it affordable.

Sizden örnek alarak bende yaptım bakalım nasıl olacak kumaş ve pol aldım ama bakalım onu havada tuta bilecez mi
Cool
Thanks!
Would the screw-in anchor umbrella bases work in place of the umbrella pole bottoms?

Where did you get the beach blankets for the fabric?

Yes, or you tie out the free corners
How much double sided fabric tape did you use/buy?
@@blessedandbeautifullife one 40ft roll is enough
Did you use 2 of the standard beach mats (96 x 85) or the large size (128 x 109)?

I just have two 14 feet tent poles. How can I attach them?
Shorten them so they are 20-25 ft and connect them together. 14 ft poles will be smaller in diameter and more flimsy than poles intended for 20-25ft lengths.
Awesome! How did the fabric tape work?
Continues to work great for the shade fabric.
This may be silly, but why do you only mark the thread at 70% of length of poles?
So that the elastic cord will stretch the remaining 30% to keep the poles tight.
Makes sense!! Thank you!!

what happens when the wind stops blowing?
Tie out the rear corner edges. It only takes a small breeze to keep this aloft. Haven't had a no breeze day at the beach yet
Have you ever been to the beach? That's the nice thing about it. It's always breezy.
