Had a ‘39 00-42 once ( one of the two made that year) , it sounded and looked absolutely gorgeous. I re-sold it after one year, because really I didn’t dare to play it : virgin syndrome . Seriously.
It was a good sou d but honestly .ot as good as I would expect from a guitar of that age and class. I definitely wouldn't pay the price im sure it cost. Just amature opinion.
I would say it sounds delightful. It's not a dreadnaught, so the lows are not as strong as you might expect, but are they sure are clear and all the overtones throughout are unreal. The projection and clarity would be hard to replicate with a new guitar, especially as Brazilian Rosewood becomes a thing of the past.

Friggin' Amazing... In my dreams, but what an amazing instrument played by an extraordinary player...
Gorgeous -- the guitar, and the playing.
Very appropriate for such a guitar. Nice playing! Now, I need to play my HD28-V.
