After watching CLOY, this song immediately stood out to me as the signature song for this drama, a bit like what 'Fox Rain' did for 'My GF is a Gumiho' and 'Dear' for 'The Man from Nowhere'. It ended up being my favourite song in the OST album, the song that represented all the good things that happened during Seri's time in N. Korea.
I love the melodic similarities it has to Dvorak's New World Symphony (2nd Movt), how it evokes nostalgia for one's hometown and memories of first friends and old roots. I also love the instrumental break in the middle with the drum rolls, which reminded me of soldiers setting off to war in a faraway place and WWI war poems... a time long gone but still living vividly in one's memory.
Based on these observations, I decided to have a go (for the very first time) at writing my own English lyrics to this song. It written from Seri's perspective, when she's alone in Seoul missing her other half. I tried to step into her shoes to think what she would've felt like during a sleepless night pining for her RJH... how she would be willing go through all that adversity hundred times over just to meet him again... I also took inspiration from a mother's mind during wartime waiting for her son to return home...
and this was the result. Hope you guys like it!
