Stunning absolutely stunning.
Just the way I would of ordered my 1970 Buick GS Stage 1 from the dealer.
1 colour, no vinyl roof etc.
Black with the colour matching rims with poverty dog dish hubcaps.
Must be 15 inch rims.
Disc Brakes
Dual Mirrors
Jewellery
Chrome wheel mould surrounds & chrome sill always looks great on black.
4 speed with centre console
Tacho Dash
Matching colour interior to the exterior.
By God we have that on this RUclips Channel.
Well done now take good care of her.

Haha!! Thank you!!

Goodday Brett,
I presume it has a LSD.
About a year ago at my mechanic workshop here in Melbourne, Australia you wouldn't believe it my mechanic had a 1970 Buick Apollo White, Stage 1 GSX.
I was blown away maybe the only 1 in Australia it looked awesome.
The mechanic & everyone else couldn't understand my excitement until I explained to them how super rare this Buick is & what it achieved.
Didn't make a difference they still considered it an old piece of American Trash. Some people just don't understand.
Happy to send you some pictures if you want to leave me your email.

Yes. 3.64, 10 bolt positraction was standard equipment with the non-air conditioned models.
I had a 70 GS 455 with 364 gears I believe. It was loaded with options. Power windows vanity mirror factory 8 track tape rear window defogger. I bought it off a car lot for $900. I didn’t at the time know what I had. When I got the car it would even spin the tires. I thought I got screwed over buying it. Told my father in-law about what was going on with it. He said you need to blow it out. Being 20 at the time and not knowing. I asked what’s that he said hold the pedal to the floor until it runs better or blows up. Thinking I had nothing to lose I did that. I held it to the floor and it was bogging you know what I’m talking about how a 4 barrel sounds. It started picking up speed. Looking through the rear view mirror it look like dust coming out the rear. All that slow driving and carbon build up. Well after that it was on and I tuned it up. Rolling 40 mph you could floor it and it would kick down and spin the tires. Second gear there wasn’t no barking of the tires. It would hit second gear and Just boil the tires. I took it to the track and ran mid 12s with slicks and low 13s with street tires spinning. 510 lbs of torque will get that 3800 lb car moving quickly. You have a nice car take care of her. They didn’t make to many stage 1 1970 4 speeds. Wish I had mine back. 👍
Thanks! Great story, too!
You gotta love Buick torque. 😁😁
Poverty wheel caps on a Stage I 4 speed....be still my heart....what a car Brett...Holy Grail...

1970 was the Best year. I owned. 2 two of those. Ultimate sleeper's.. Gold and silver. Very lucky to be alive to write this review. Your black beauty / Meat.70 is Hot. Miss mine. Love to see how many still race and Win. My toughest race was with. A 73 pontiac T/A Ho 455. 152 mph. Wow. Wild on Wheels...

Check out the review. I did for 70 GSX 455 . oh I had 2 turbots 400s. Just punch to floor and win races. One nite going to other club. People I was givtng rides said punch it . i forgot it ruined a bit. Sideways at 110. Billed out. Into woods. Check this out. Luckily it was all little dappling small trees. Got stuck over a small stream.. Came back next morning with tow truck. Pulled it back out. Small dent on bumper. That's it. That was when cars were toughmetal !!!. Drove away. Miracle! Hundreds of other True stories.. Across that fat. Condole / shifter area.. Thank you for keeping the 1970 Black rear bumper. Dream alive. Wow. / Wild. On Wheels.
Hemi Killer. Saw one in 1970 waste a hemi road runner, and a 6 pact dodge, they both ran 13.5 and the torque y Buick went 13.1
I've seen all 3 run high 12s! In factory trim! Just depends on the transmission and gearing and good tires.
And by all three I mean the big 3 in 1970.... Cuda, chevelle and stage 1.
What an absolute stunner 😎👍
Thank you for bringing back some good memories with this video🙂
It's sad that the speakers (on devices) can't convey the deep "to your bones" sound that these things created.

Two months later (going 40 mph) I goosed it, (running late for work) heard a loud bang, and looked up in time to see the spider gears following me down the road.
The guy I sold it to, put 513 gears in it, it worked once. The second time that diff exploded too.
Most fun, and expensive car I ever owned. And I'd buy another one right now 😎

Another "Bucket List Car"!!
Love that Buick!! 510lbs of torque. Can't imagine why someone would buy a buick GS without the Buick Rally wheels. They are the best looking stock wheels out there IMO. That and I never got why buick only had consule for automatics. Had a 4spd 71 cutlass. Loved the console. Got to have that handy storage spot. Meanwhile this is a totally bad ass machine
Thanks!
Yeah, well I'm a purist and this was ordered with the steelies and dog dish caps, so that's how I went in its transformation back to original. 😁
@@brettslater872 I kind of assumed that was the case with the wheels. I also had assumed that since Buick was a top of the line car that they didn't offer the dog dish caps.
@@maximumcoverage5591 if the buyer didn't check off one of the 4 or 5 wheel options, they got the bare bones wheels. Some even came with full hubcaps, sometimes referenced as "volcano" hubcaps.
This car has no power options aside from power steering. Manual drums all around. Someone wanted to go straight and fast. Apparently, stopping wasn't much of a concern. 😂😂
@@brettslater872 yeah that's defiantly not the normal for a buick. Damn I bet it is a scorcher down the track. What gear ratio?? If I may ask?? And what does the buick 455 like?? I mean I know it's a torque monster. Is it like a Pontiac where 5000 rpm is all your going to really wind it? Or like olds where you can still get power between 5-6000 rpm. I assume not like Chevy where 7k is normalish?
@@maximumcoverage5591 rear gears are the factory 3.64's. Leave it to Buick to make an oddball gear you can't get parts for for under $1K.
This motor will probably pull like a train until around 5500-5700 ish. After that, it's tongue will be dragging. It's a fresh build with all the TA Performance goodies as well as ported Stage 1 heads, so it should be stout. I'm running a worked over Q-Jet on an old school Edelbrock B4B intake with Mickey Thompson Super Scavenger headers and recently replaced the original Muncie with a rebuilt M21 and rebuilt factory Hurst shifter. Once I replace the original posi rear, I plan on getting some time slips. It should be fun dumping the clutch at 4,000 rpm.

That's exactly how it was ordered new. 😁
My first car was a 1970 Buick GS350. Bench seat, auto, no power brakes either. Got that good sound when I got a set of headers for it and putting a Turbo400 in place of the Turbo350 made a huge difference. Put a 69 Chevelle 396 to shame. Will buy a GS when one becomes available for me in my price range.
Turbo 400 shifts soft and actually will slow it down compare to a turbo 350 so what huge difference are you referring to?
@@camirocz i put a shift kit in the 400, kept the 350 torque converter, got some kenne-bell headers for the 350 and got a 3.42 (i think thats what it was) posi rear end out of a totaled 1970 GSX i found. It ran damn good after all that.

What month was your GS455 Stage 1made? I know _where_ it was made: Flint. It has the underhood hallmarks of an early sequence number 1970, built in 1969, and some of the items in the interior I'd expect to see on later production during the 1970 calendar year, but it seems to have the 'Cadillac' long armrests which suggest earlier production. You might have one of the cars made during the transition from 'early' 1970 to 'regular' production 1970, where 'early' parts were still in some bins. GS Club of America can help you there, if you're not a member.
4th week of December, 1969, so it falls under the category of a "transition car", so to speak.
The gauge cluster lenses are flat and the rear sail panel lenses are devoid of the Tri Shield, which is indicative of the "later" build. However, the adjustment lever for the buckets has a chrome knob. This car is a mish mash of early and late parts - all of which I'm confident it was born with due to the low miles (54K) and ownership history.
I've been a member of the GSCA since 1988. 👍🏻👍🏻
