To Jill Johnson (Camilla Belle, The Ballad of Jack and Rose), it was the perfect babysitting job. The parents were away. The fridge was stocked. The children were tucked into bed. But then the phone rings and an ominous voice asks, "Have you checked the children?" Locked in with the lights out and the curtains drawn, a panicky Jill phones the police, who trace the calls -- only to inform her they're coming from inside the house. And as the frightened teenager goes upstairs to check on the children, Jill's quiet night of babysitting is about to turn into a nerve-shattering nightmare of suspense, horror and dread.
I love this scene strictly because of the way the officer sounded so freaked out

I love how the officer was scared for her, he had little lines but delivered it well
“Jill listen to me we traced the call it’s coming from inside the house!” Boy this movie been out for 18 years & this one particular line still puts a lot of fear in me til this day. I would’ve lost my dang mind if I was in her shoes.
I love these type of thriller movies that keep you on the edge of your seat.

Watched this movie on television alone at night (around 3AM)! My house was also a little spacey and open-open... Was young back then! It was such a frightening experience (especially this scene, when he says its coming from inside the house), gave me a fun scary rush... The movie does not have a lot of content, but sure made an unforgettable memory.
It’s scary but I like when movies have that kind of scary twist moment to it
I love how they showed her POV as she’s going up the stairs, makes you feel dread and fear that she’s gonna run into the guy.
That was the moment all the audience shat their pants in terror.
And as of today (since I now finished watching), *the moment where I had trouble breathing from what I was witnessing.*
This movie doesn’t get enough praise. They literally built the house to set the tone. She’s a scream queen

Damn shes such a good actress her anxiety was palpable with her heavy breathing i think everybody felt like that even once in their lives when the heart is pounding like crazy and you cant breath because of fear
The camera work was very well done here, going around corners and looking up the stairs. Built a lot of tension.
Fun fact: that’s the girl that got attacked by the Compys at the start of The Lost World (Jurassic Park).
OK here are 2 facts for you.
1. Her father is played by Clark Gregg aka Agent Coulson in Agents of Shield
2. The killer is played by Scottish actor Tommy Flanagan. The scars on his face are actually his scars. He got them after being a DJ at a club. He got attacked by a gang with knifes where they cut his face like that.

@@Mrhanky159 What did they say that was wrong? Clark Gregg did indeed play the father, and Tommy Flanagan played the stranger. Tommy Flanagan does indeed have scars known as the "Glasgow Smile" given to him by a group of people with a knife after a DJ gig.

How does he even know in advance that parents are going out for the night and hiring babysitters?
He could have been stalking? Not sure tho.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and suggest the killer probably sneaked in prior to that night, went unnoticed by everyone (especially since the kids were sick and Rosa was leaving at night to take care of her mom) until it was time to strike. He did seem too familiar with how everything worked in that house, so I doubt that he just did a speed run that night alone.
This is better than the original.
Just like the hills have eyes remake I never watch the original scene clips, but

While the opening and closing 20 minutes around Jill are great in the original, that middle section with the 7 year time jump just cut the wind out of the sails. And following the killer around him being sad and pathetic takes away so much menace and danger around him.
Meanwhile here we never lose any tension with terrifying calls leading straight into a frantic cat and mouse survival game.

what is the meaning of you called the wrong phone line by her?
The first time in this clip when The Stranger called her, he called one of two phones-The line that WASN'T being traced by the police. That's why when He called again (on the line that WAS being traced), she set her watch-to keep him on the line for at least 60 seconds so that the police could trace him.
