Greeting's Mates from a Like Mind Yank in Alabama USA. Saw this my 1st video of "Yall" as we say it in America. Im 64yo. Only 13 years in Electric Rc planes. My Club members an A few trades have me with 5 Glow . This video restores my faith in converting one of glow to electric. The Other 4 Ill tune, polish an run up, as keepsakes of Early Rc. Tks!!!! For The Spitfire show Most Beautiful war Bird more so then our own P-51 . Cheers!
One of my very first planes, The Stik. However, I am a "Wet" flier, a small engine nut. First Stik had a .35 engine and a 9x6 prop. Next engine was a 40 with a 10x6 prop My current Stik has a .46 DBB and with a 11x5. One of the best planes to Learn R/C with.
Most electric conversions show the motor being mounted some distance from the original firewall to get the CG right. Otherwise one would need to add significant nose weight.
+Martin Schyns (ReCreate) Hi Martin, the thrust lines are exactly according to the original. in other words the motor mount is bolted directly to the firewall. no thrust angles are in the manual so one can presume the firewall is preset with the correct angles. Regards Rob
I ordered the big Stik 60 and looking to do some modifications. Can any current owner give me the dimensions of the white areas (wings, fuselage and rudder) where the crosses are? Looking to get some stickers printed out.
I had a disc blow apart under those rpms. I had to pick a chunk out of the back of my hand. Always, always heed the rpms listed on the package for using cut off wheels. You cant fix stupid( Thats what the sign in my workshop says). Just be careful, wear eye protection when using a power tool.
Watching paint dry but somehow not boring. Well done. But I d stick to ic engine. In fact I d convert leccy to ic defo more power and bricks to charge.
Ok this is how I do it.. I look to see what if engine it originally required and what prop size the engine turned and rpm. Then I look for a brushless motor that will turn the same sort of size prop at around the same rpm.
@@markn3586 i think we used a g46 hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-g46-brushless-outrunner-550kv-46-glow.html?queryID=8c6f6284abeb8f2dc9eaae99307326bf&objectID=36978&indexName=hbk_live_magento_en_us_products
The great thing about modelling is you have to take lots of abuse right on the chin & only the chin. It made a change to be working in front of the camera this time, and as always a joy as a model..er to be a part of The RC Model Geeks (Mad Lot !)

Awsum job you guys ..... another great vid ..... beautiful plane 😎
Nice video, I'm planning to convert my old Big Stick 60 to electric, I think I will go with the same Turnigy motor you used, looks like a good choice.
Just found your channel - wonderful stuff.
Thank you for the video.
Brilliant video guy's , really enjoyable .
+Scott Thompson -Thanks mate. Glad you enjoyed it!
Could you please give some details, such as: Battery C rating, prop used and esc used? Much appreciated and great video!
there called blind nuts the razor saw is awsome wow
Wow.... fantastic job!
Cheers. Glad you enjoyed it ;o)
Did you guys have any trouble with prop clearance with the conversion?
i think we had a 3 blader on it to get good clearance. But we do fly off rough ground so need more clearance ;o)
Thanks for a great video. Can you comment on any thrust line considerations for your new engine mount. Thanks Martin

great video guys! i noticed you were flyin with a mode 2 radio......i thought you crazy guys across the pond flew mode 1? lol
+Rcgary24 Thanks for the comment. I think we mostly fly Mode 2 over here. i fact i dont know anyone who flies mode 1 ;o)

I'm planning to put electric onto a Midwest Sweet Stik. How did you determine the size motor you needed? Thanks

Sounds good. I'll find a match to a 46 nitro engine. Thanks for responding.

for an engineer his drill is blunt

Great vid fella's but why a G46? Surely a G60 would be better or even a G110. More power!!!!!!!
+Pete Stanford Its got unlimited vertical on the G46 ;o)
+RC Model Geeks But not fast enough I say.
cant believe you wasted exess epoxy id brush it to the joints for strength
Why would u want electric
Mine has a 90 fuck a electric
