Hey loves, just a little additional tips that I didn't get a chance to mention in my voiceover for the persons who actually want to try this. 1) Make sure that the sole of your shoe is the thickest part, so I did about 1cm thick. This is important because it is the foundation of the shoe and it needs to be thick so that the shoe is stable enough to transport. 2) Add a little tylose or CMC powder to the fondant to make it dry firm if you don't have a dehydrator to make the process go faster and to dry the fondant harder. if you don't have any of those powder then use gum paste because it naturally dries harder than fondant. 3) Since the paper that the template is on may not readily stick to the fondant or stay in place while you cut out the shapes. Feel free to add a bit of shortening to the fondant so that the paper says in place. 4) if you are not using a non stick mat, ensure that you add cornstarch to your work surface so that the fondant does stick. if the fondant sticks to the surface it make lose its shape when you try to take it up. 5) MOST IMPORTANTLY! HAVE FUN AND BE PROUD OF YOUR FINAL PRODUCT.
aww thank you for the support I really appreciate it! ok so after you add the buttercream I usually just put it in my fridge for about 30 mins, sometimes i'll leave it overnight if I'm not in a rush, but you can check it at 20 mins though, the aim is to make sure that the cream is firm enough to work with so the weight of the fondant doesn't mess it up. so you can give it more or less time but once you are able to touch the cake without the cream coming off on your finger and it feels firm then you are ready to go. also sometimes when you take it out especially if you left it for a couple hours + then the buttercream is so firm that the fondant can't stick to it. so I sometimes leave it out for about a minute or two until it starts condensing before o cover it, or ill lightly mist it with a spray bottle just to get something to act as glue. I believe that should explain it but if you have any follow up question feel free to ask 💜
