This was Betty Draper’s response to the adult neighbor’s threatening comments directed at her little kids. One of my favorite scenes in the whole series.
@@gerard4039 You don't threaten a beloved family dog to the children, he was out of line to scare them like that. If he really had a problem with the dog then he should have taken it up with the parents like an adult.

@Girlygirlemc wow people don't understand this scene for some reason... she's just shooting AT the birds, not aiming for a direct hit, it scares the birds away. schools do this to get rid of birds so children aren't shat on in the playground.
He was luring the birds to the threshold of the drapers yard, his reaction to the attack could hardly be less shocked, he did it to scare the kids and feel powerful over kids.
BB gun, I'm pretty sure. And it was empty. I think she wanted to make a point to that idiot about his flying rats and scaring the hell out of small kids.
Surprised she didn't do that as soon as the neighbor lured all those dirty-ass stinking pigeons to the area. Waiting for him to threaten the dog is a model of restraint.
Buster, you say that to my four-year-old and I guarantee you you’re not gonna get a second chance… its gonna to be an ass whooping soon as daddy he gets home!
I don't watch much of this show but what's up with Don and his girlfriend (wife?)? He tells her beautiful compliments, tells her she's like an angel and all she responded was "you're sweet" and looked awkward while after saying it. That was weird, does she doubt him? Does she not feel strongly about Don?
This is a satire right? The bird loving neighbor gets a bird murdering one. So if I were the bird loving neighbor I'd be justified in shooting the golden retriever? This is why neighbors become enemies, and why every house relocation has been caused by idiot neighbors, who start something, then expect you to yield their abuse; usually because you moved in after they did.
A guy saying something mean after seeing one of his pets get attacked isn't 'abuse' you dolt. And teaching your kids to A) be THAT fucking sensitive and/or B) respond to some mean words with physical violence.. Yeah. Stellar parenting.
heldinahtmlhell It is abuse when you say it to small children who don't really understand the implications of what is going on around them, you moron. That shows how very little you know about child psychology. What kind of parent lets his children be abused? How sick are you? They shouldn't allow you to go near any kids.
I never got this scene... is that supposed to be a cap gun and she's just pretending to shoot them in order to piss off the neighbor, or is it supposed to be a real gun that the props dept seriously screwed up because there's no recoil or sound? You can't be too angry over this guy stupid statement after he sees his bird being killed. What she did was wrong but it's hard to hold it against her.
@@Jjb-gk4ce Easy. 4:38 One cannot properly aim a firearm if one's thumb is obstructing the line of sight between the rear and front sights of the weapon.
kenp3L has it occurred to you that she wasn't aiming? Since the number of people who can actually hit a flying pigeon with a bb gun is equivalent to the number of people in America with Ebola, it would be ridiculous to assume she was actually trying to aim at one, let alone hit one. She was making a point, and scaring the pigeons away, like zookeepers do.
Absolutely ok to shoot a dog that's outta control. Not many cases of birds taking a child away but plenty on dogs taking a child's life away. It's was mental of it to attack the bird, he shouldn't have spoken to the kids but just shot the dog instead, simple. Bad script writing.
BB gun- it's very hard to hit flying birds with a BB gun. They are neither particularly fast nor possessing of stopping power. That said, it may simply be implied that she's hitting them with the gun. There are various reasons why it would be dictatorially bad for them to actually show her downing birds. You don't, for instance, want the audience to connect with a visibly wounded bird.
The answer is not to kill more of the man's birds. It is an error between neighbors, something whereby a compromise should be reached, bringing a gun to play makes two wrongs, not a right, this how vengeance takes control and people die!
on the contrary, this applies to Action-Response Definition principles. disregarding a hit/miss; she did not resort to verbal dispute. verbal disputes only resolve as much as both parties are arguing on unbiased, rationale ground. equal more or less values. but they are far from equal. instead, action is the best approach. this neighbor used appeal to verbal threat; he disregarded the mental prowess and lack of moral sense animals have. clearly, he is foolishly offending consciously where her party is in accident, justification of crime (threatning) does not eliminate the crime taking place/no excuse. she had every right to argue through action which is the only realistic approach structure when dealing with irrational people.
