I own 3 Canik TP9 pistol models. So far I haven't have any issues. Nothing but praises. In fact, Canik's quality demonstrates that other gun manufacturers of striker-fired polymer handguns are overpricing their overhyped pistols.
This is the greatest gift to owners . Nothing comes close for the price . And not much beats it at double . The low cost in turkey and being “new “ to the market is the deal of the century . I’d put this up to anything out the box against any polymer striker . Cheers
I have a TP9SA M2 and I love it. I had issues with it being very dry out of the box but it had been out of its case at the place I purchased it, so I don’t fault Canik. I lubed it up, and fired 200 rounds of Remington 115g FMJ with no problems whatsoever.
I just purchased this same exact Canik 9mm and I love it! I was going for a Glock 17 until I saw it and decided to take a chance on it and I very glad I did!!
You can’t go wrong with a Canik. This model especially. I have never had any issues with my canik or my Turkish maid XP9 GEN three great guns and some of the best triggers out there.
I picked up a used one of these at a pawn shop. Wasn't expecting much, never had a Canik before. Seemed to be quality made, fit my hand well, cycled well. Went to the range with it and ran 200 rounds through it. I was so impressed, this became my nighstand gun afterward. Great little gun, cant believe they are so inexpensive.
I own the TP9da and have 500 rounds Through it and it's super accurate Trigger pull is 5lbs Reset is 16th of an inch Love it got the tac light 18 rounds can't beat it.
Thank you. That was the best tutorial I have seen on this Canik model. I bought one a few weeks ago and I wasn’t sure what sort of ammo I should use with this firearm. Thank you.
Purchased the TP9SA about 10 months ago. Very accurate out of the box, love the feel of it, and very comfortable to shoot, but I have had some issues with it when rapid firing. If there is any side pressure on the trigger, it won't pull rearward. Also having some issues with initial feeding of hollowpoint ammo when seating a fresh magazine on an empty chamber with the slide to the rear. Have used 5 different types of hollowpoint ammo, all with the same issue. It was my daily concealed carry, but I no longer trust it should a real world situation arise, thus I have gone back to my Springfield XD. Gonna sell it, buy the Mod 2 and see how that is.
I have 4 Caniks pistol and LOVE them and I don't give a crap about the Turkish government but I do care about quality firearms. Great video as usual. And Bradley, almost ALL striker fired pistol will rack home with a positive mag insertion.
Glock was overtaken in many regards decades ago. It was a great platform but their laziness has left the gun a bit dated. Still great guns, but ergonomics, trigger, and features are all years behind most modern guns.
I have had one of these since march(exactly like the model demonstrated.)love it, great shooter.shoots as good as my M9A4 BUT for a hell of a lot less in price....traded the M9 for 2 Glocks !! no regrets!!
I purchased a tp9sa and unfortunately I had failure to feed issues and the slightest side pressure on the trigger would make it inoperable . I sent it back but unfortunately it didn't get fixed. Bad service and I guess my first lemon purchase. Great video and ammo test.

chuckles470 S The TP9SA has a stiff recoil spring. I have run the shit out of mine with ZERO issues until I used some reman ammo. It was rendered damned near useless with that stuff. If you have Academy Sports in your neck of the woods, pick up some Monarch (it's rebranded PPU) 115 or 124 gr brass case. Very accurate and warm loads. You'll thank me!
I couldn't rely on it and was offered a trade. I did try different ammo but nothing hot. This info helps. If the opportunity comes up I would try another canik. Thanks
@@GBGuns Wish you wouldn't have said that Graham! Won't be able to sleep tonight! Checked out your depot page tonight & will be watching it from now on!
Canik55 makes premium pistols to NATO specs with cold hammer forged barrels by mke. TriStar imports the excellent metal cz75 pattern pistols that are hammer fired da/sa. I don't like plastic or strikers so these pistols are to my liking!
92.6 grains sounds specific, but a habit that I picked up from when my parents used to play the Lottery was converting letters to numbers and vice versa to choose my own lucky numbers. 6 is the 6th letter, so 92.6 translates to 92F, so I'd associate that round with a Beretta. I'd like to see how it screams out of the 4.92 inch barrel of a Beretta.
When you loaded the extra round and said decocker dead trigger and pulled the trigger and a gun went off in the background I thought it was your gun then had a good laugh...
@@kolbyharrison4147 The frame of this pistol is legally the '"firearm". If you want to change frames you'll need a chassis-system gun like an Arex Delta or Sig 320
Mine has been flawless. My 14 year-old son is able to make it malfunction by limp-wristing it (he’s been shooting for a few years, but sometimes he gets lazy). Oddly, he limp-wristed even though he’s 6’4”! For everyone else in the family-even my 8 year-old son-it’s never malfunctioned.
Taking away the ambi decocker was a step backwards. More and more handguns are ambidextrous these days, and Canik did the opposite with this version 2.
So am I correctly observing the slide dropping upon mag insertion without the aid of manual slide disengagement? Excellent video as always. Thank you for video.
Your saying V2 in video but description says mod 2. Which is it. Also I thought on the new mod 2 the decocker didn't kill the trigger but instead put it in double action type pull weight
Junior 83 - I own the TP9v2 and it has the de-cocker that turns the first pull into double action. It's a pretty good pistol, no problems with it. The Mod2 is different though, the de-cocker is the kill switch, but is pretty much impossible to accidentally push.
Junior 83 I really don’t know why you would want to have a dead trigger by pushing the decocker button. I guess you would use it to disassemble the gun without having to pull the trigger. I would choose the TP9 Version 2 if I were going to buy a Canik. You would be getting a Walther P99 AS clone which is a great all around gun for CCW and home defense.
Junior 83 - The trigger pull on the TP9v2 is really nice, light and crisp. The concern is, that it is too light to carry with the striker cocked so they added the de-cocker so you can have a heavier double action trigger pull on your first pull, and light trigger pulls thereafter, this is called a double action/single action or DA/SA. Some people like to have the same trigger pull every time, from the first pull to the last pull, that's where the Mod2 comes in. It's basically like a Glock with a striker de-cocker. I would not worry about the de-cocker on the V2 and Mod2, it's impossible to accidentally push. On my TP9v2, you have to push the de-cocker button in about 1/3 inch to activate the de-cocker. I really like my TP9v2, it's nice knowing that I have second strike capability with the DA/SA trigger if I have a light primer strike.
Holy crap I turned away for a quick second and saw you say dead trigger next thing I heard was a pop..for a split second I thought you made an oopsies lol
What is the point of the decocker if it always makes the trigger go dead? Isn't the whole intention to put you back into DA mode (like on the P99). Or was this a specific malfunction that occurred?
The non-ambi one can't be unintentionally decocked when carried in a RH holster....had that happen once and I've been shooting an SA 1-3x/week for the last four years. At no time have I ever intentionally used the decocker.
stupid question, so please excuse my ignorance as I'm learning. am I able to mount a red dot on this pistol? looks as though as I can, but I keep seeing people having issues finding a mounting bracket that works? any insight would help, thanks!
You can. You need a bracket for this gun that is compatible with the optic you want to mount. Century Arms has the brackets i believe. It's frustrating because there are four major mounting footprint styles and they are not compatible. For example a Burris and Trijicon have different requirements.
@@GBGuns so is it safe to assume the four mounting brackets will fit the TP9SA mod 2? its just the art of matching an optic with the corresponding bracket.
Different sights; the ones on the Mod2 can be replaced with Glock/SW (one is rear and one is front), whereas the original, which I LOVE and wish they hadn't done away with, were unique. Also the replacement barrel for the Mod2 doesn't fit the original, also a suck point as mine's pretty worn out.
had a TP9v2 over a year ago...damn thing wouldn't run domestic target fmj (did good with slightly warmer CIP rated stuff...ppu, s&b, century arms hot shot elite) & eventually sold it for bill $$$; just got a lnib (looked unfired & still had slide decals) TP9sa for $225 & had trepidations of ammo fussiness and was pleasantly suprised...worked 100% with remington 115gr & 124gr fmj and hornady critical defense! rotating it into home defense sometime this week...
Confusing when you call the Mod 2 a V2. The V2 is a very different version as it is a double action, single action and the decocker on the V2 keeps the trigger live when depressed as opposed to the Mod2 which is single action and will have a dead trigger when the decocker is pressed. People should realize there is a big diffference between a V2 and a Sa Mod2.
