i remember when i was a kid, how many countless time i've watched this movie and how it affected me throughout my whole life. i was born 86. Definitely a classic. Sad that this kind of story telling and cinematography is no more. well its the definition of its era i guess. glad to be part of it :)

I was a teenager when this film came out. It was a total cheesefest and I felt sorry for Val Kilmer for trying to become the younger version of Harrison Ford (Indiana Jones, Han Solo). The film's premise was something out of a Dungeons and Dragons knock-off game, and wouldn't even pass for a cheap fantasy paperback novel. Beast Master, as cheesy as that was, had more originality and more innovation in terms of fantasy genre. Willow was basically the Christ-child story retold in some hybrid Medieval fantasy trope.

My father used to record all legendary movies for me when I was a child, such as the Indiana Jones Saga, The Goonies, and specially Willow, and when he allowed me to watch those movies, I can only say Thank You to him. Because of him, I’m now a strong and empathetic woman. Willow is without doubt my favorite movie ever made. I will do the same for my son, to let him know that in such of fantasy world there is a message of courage, hope, love and by the utmost importance, trust to himself in a world where you need this. Thank you dad, I will never forget this gift.

Here in 2022. I remember that Willow 1988 helped set precedent & helped advanced the pioneering effects of "morphing", mixing with both traditional stop-motion practical effects & the burgeoning advancements in using computers for early digital morphing effects. Aside from the movie itself, the morphing magic thing was starting out in movies & was huge news back then in the late 1980's. We now taking morphing for granted, which is practically all digital now (less expensive) & Willow 1988 helped move that technology along. Now after over 3 decades, we are getting a sequel. It's about time.
