I haven't seen one comment yet about how the husband is a guilty party too. Women love to blame the other woman, without looking at the husband first. The other woman is the OTHER WOMAN. Your husband is your HUSBAND. He's the one that's been with you for years. You should be wondering how your husband actually felt about you all those years. I also feel that, if you LOVE two people go with the second person, because if you actually loved the first person, another person wouldn't be a problem. ALSO THIS MOVIE CAME OUT IN 2009. Some people are like how they saved money....................... its already online. just my opinion.. holyshit over a thousand likes, I haven’t looked at this comment in a while. 😅 thanks man
100% agree! People should be mad at the person they trusted, the person who promised them love and other strings attached cause this is A person who decided to cheat on them, who DECIDED to hurt them
This movie tries to support adultery, and doesn't care for the ones who suffer the most (the faithful spouse, and the children who lose one parent to a lover who is responsible for the divorce).
when there is a divorce you don't actually lose your father or mother, if both parents do it right. Or at least you don't have to lose, but if both parts play difficult to make arrangements, they will hurt the kids. Even if a husband or wife cheats on her/his partner, this person still has to find a solution for the kids not suffer more than they already have to. If someone leaves the wife or husband they are not always leaving their children... And the movie does not support that, they are telling a story...and the main one is not even foccused on that. Is about loss.
Bit it’s a whole lot of work for everyone else. Grades typically drop in school. Yeah I didn’t like it that some of the characters supported the affair, but I think it was showing the toll it takes on the child and the cheated spouse & even the toll on the homewrecker herself. I don’t know about the adulterer. I hate all that and pity the child lost of course and even her. So I’m not sure if it’s promoting wrecking a home or your own home, but asking is the suffering of others worth it or make you a heroine? He still gets to look like the good guy?
This movie doesn’t support adultery. It’s just a story. Things happen in life. Not everything has some deep meaning about long life lessons. Some stories just tell the story.
What annoyed me about this movie was that Natalie’s Portman’s character was mad at her father who had cheated on her mother years ago. Yet she’s doing the same thing she’s mad at her dad for? 😐😐I don’t know make this make sense someone🤦🏽♀️🤦🏽♀️
Well Ana, this actually happens often. Sometimes children who are molested grow up to be pedophiles (very unfortunate). No child wants to be or deserves to be hurt in that way. Kids raised in a environment inundated with drugs, albeit they hate it at the time, go on to use drugs/alcohol. When we were kids, my sister use to flush my mother's cigarettes down the toilet. Guess what? Now my sister smokes like a chimney and my mother doesn't. Humans are complex.
this was seriously a really good movie & deserves more stars! if anyone is considering watching this, definitely go for it. Everyone plays their parts SO WELL and the actors chosen were perfect. It's very touching and i'd watch it 18379 more times!
Yeah Natalie, Kudrow and Cohen all dominated in their roles! They all portrayed emotional turmoil so well, the feelings of grief, loss and betrayal. I found myself relating to Amelia because I have a very complicated relationship with my biological father, but I've never involved myself with a married man. Then there was William, studies show than children with separated/divorced parents usually have trouble being more social. Then there was the ex-wife who I sympathized with until she suggested that it was Amelia's fault that her daughter died of SIDS.
I've seen the movie and Natalie does do a great job as always but the character is a self entitled whore.the character knowingly gets involved w a married guy then expects to be something more to her step son.
I believe people who cheat on their spouses, boyfriend's, girlfriend is not happy or satisfied with their relationship. if they were cheating would never even cross there mind or it shouldn't. it's not fair to play with people's hearts and emotions like that. if your truly not happy in a relationship just leave. it's better than running around with other people
Rebecca Bryant ha funny you should say that, a guy that used to work at the hospital w me said he couldn't.he had all ready built a life w his life, don't know if there is another women but he's admitted it was a case of getting married too young plus they have 3 kids so he has a job so he can avoid her.
If he only worked this hard to fix his relationship as he was at working around her and avoid her, he would have made the marriage better for everyone involved.
i hate people who break up marriages. they are lowlifes. they dont think that they are doing anything wrong, but really they are doing everything wrong. This movie is literally condoning this, saying how everything turns out all right when the husband cheats on the wife with a younger and slutty woman. this is a movie that i wouldnt reccomend to anyone, it even looks horrible.
I LOVE Natalie Portman, I could sit down and watch all her movies in one sit in... she's an incredible actress and deserves all the best that this world has to offer.
I saw that movie yesterday for the first time and I think it is simply amazing. During some scenes, it made me think about my family a bit and I had tears in my eyes. Such an emotional and touching movie.
Ikr and portraying Natalie's character as a positive heroine and Lisa's character as nothing!!. I love Natalie but not in his film..she acted wonderfully but the story is something I personally don't support.
She nails it. Her role is far from just being the discarded first wife and the depth of her performance had me in tears. Kudrow is underrated as an actress.
Lisa finally doing a serious role!!! I've been wating for this since friends! o thanks you! and Natalie just keeps being Oscar material. Perfect woman.
Okay. Natalie Portman has always been one of the most talented and beautiful women on the screen. I remember watching her growing up so if it happens that now several movies of hers are released in a short period does not mean anything except a confirmation and perhaps a reminder of her talent and beauty. Maybe even a lesson on acting and a set of brilliant performances. This looks like a good a movie. Ive missed Lisa Kudrow.
Thank you Hollywood for more garbage. They try to make everything seem ok and beautiful grey. Will its piss. Just like 50 shades of grey, me before you and soooo many others.

no loving wife who carries a child with the man she loves should have to go through what these two did to her. and the guy that leaves his wife and breaks up his family for a new woman Is a huge loser, a loser I would never watch a movie about. the other woman got pregnant and lost the baby and then broke the father and son down further because they were never family to begin with. while I love NPortman, I really cant think of a more useless way to waste my time than to watch it.

Doesn't -god- Morgan Freeman make a cameo in this film, too? The only people I recognize are Padmé and Phoebe!
I haven't watched the movie, but from what I'm seeing here the character Natalie Portman portrays is a young beautiful woman, who is indeed looks very selfish and self-centered. She does things because it feels good: sleeps with the husband because it feels good, she likes him and doesn't care about hurting the wife and agrees to marry him and agrees to "live" with the child since it's part of the packeage. It's all about her and what feels good, not minding her side effects or hurting people. One day she becomes a mother and feels completely different, she feels deep love and her baby girl is the one thing she will put first and will protect. That baby girl dies and in a way this woman is forced to feel deep pain and sorrow for the first time in her life. Whith these new feelings she starts to feel a little more empathetic towards everyone else: the child, her husband, the ex-wife and everybody else around her. So in perspective, only from what I've watched and of course I can be completely wrong, I sense she was selfish, then she experiences a deep loss and because of that she gains empathy and humanity, as a result she becomes a better person at the highest of the costs. Not bad, this actually happens in life to a lot of people, this is one case but also can happen to a person in a job, a family, etc.

colleen t you should see the movie before you judge it. It‘s a little stupid to talk about „glorification“ when you have only seen a trailer
Scott Cohen
Loveee this movie!!
wait...actions have consequences? I can't be hearing that!!
Looks kind of like a modern retelling of David and Bathsheba.
Is it just me or did anyone else almost cry whilst watching this?
Wow this movie looks like it's gonna be pretty darn great. Another movie to add to the list of Natalie Portman's great performances hopefully.
Well damn he's cheating on his wife and the side chick gets pregnant lord the disrespect but how u get your man is how u will loose him
man or woman
This movie just shows once again how hot Natalie Portman is compared to any other person
Can't wait 2 watch this
The storyline would have been great if she wasn't a home wrecker, hard to have sympathy for someone like that.
Well it takes two to tango sweetheart!!! - he was the married one. Why is it that the woman always are always the target from women?????
Not interested in watching a family be destroyed and then cheer them on for keeping it going afterwards
What's name of the song in the end of this trailer? Do you know?
Natalie Portman is an amazing actress!!!
People this is not a movie about adultery, it is a big factor, but it's not what it is about. It's about a woman who lost her baby and how she tries to keep going. I found it really inpirational
Verónica Tolisano from cheating
Verónica Tolisano deserved what she got. Inspirational? Please. She's a home wrecker and karma's a wonderful bitch.
You kidding right?? Inspirational?? A women was cheated on by her husband! How the fuck is that inspirational??
Verónica Tolisano um. Have you ever been in a marriage destroyed by cheating?
Katie Pecos have you ever lost a baby?
I came here for Natalie Portman
@kacek302 the song is "change of time" by josh ritter. it's on his latest album called "so runs the world away"

This is why there is so many divorces. Sad
This movie teachers everyone a lesson...🤭
this looks like a movie thats gunna make me cry lmao... cant waitXD
This is Natalie Portman's niche. I'm pretty sure she's wrecked a couple of homes lol
Why do you think that? Because she's likable, unlike yourself?
I like these movie, every brunette and redhead, asian, black woman must
destroy blonde woman married and stole blonde woman husband
Wtf
