    I wonder if the problem with your oatmeal being over done has something to do with your covering the dish. The sensor is sensitive to steam. Covering your dish does not let the steam permeate the cook space, and can’t reach the sensor.

    • @ALinsdau
      @ALinsdau  5 лет назад

      Good point...I'll have to experiment.

    • @Portland_Living_Life
      @Portland_Living_Life 3 года назад +2

      I was going to say the same thing. I am fairly certain that Panasonic's sensor works off of steam detection and by covering the oatmeal he defeated that system. Then he read the instructions that specifically said "uncovered".

    Panasonic inverter microwaves. Work great, high efficiency, but high failure rate. Old AC transformer/capacitor power supply microwaves that cycle on and off at 10 to 20 second intervals don't defrost and cook as evenly, but they last forever if you don't burn up your door switches. Most people DO abuse their door safety switches by opening the door to check food temps without first pressing the STOP button.

    • @ALinsdau
      @ALinsdau  4 года назад

      You're right - it's best to stop the microwave before opening the door. A microwave repair guy told me this, too. He makes a lot of money off replacing door switches from people doing this.

    I'll not buy another Panasonic microwave oven. The one I bought around 2017 gets minimal use, but the interior paint began to peel within a year. Panasonic won't admit to this apparently common defect, claiming "improper use," which is not the case. The paint is inferior, and browns and cracks even with modest use. I have owned several microwave ovens in the past, and never experienced this problem before.

    well i have a 2015 model and it has rusted in many places.
    but cooking wise it heats up food hot and evenly.
    it is a bit pricey to be trashed due to rust inside in 5 years, i have less priced microwaves last 5+ years.

    Maybe I'm unlucky, but every panasonic product I've had, died an early death. Reviews of their microwaves on Amazon tell of a lot of early deaths of panasonic's 'inverter' microwave ovens. I guess I'll just get another Sharp when my current one dies, if it EVER dies (22 years still going strong so far).

    🙄 It's almost a stereotype at this point.... Polar explorers doing RUclips microwave oven reviews! Antarctic explorers have traditionally been GE microwave loyalists, while arctic explorers inevitably jump on the Panasonic bandwagon. It's always been this way! Sir John Franklin had already signed a contract with Panasonic in February 1845, but he never made it back from searching for the northwest passage. They even had microwave ovens on the Erebus and the Terror, but they burned out early, because his crew forgot to pack microwave-safe Tupperware! They just kept shoving tin cans inside them! Obviously that melted the lead used to solder the cans shut, which mixed with their Chunky and Progresso brand soups. That eventually poisoned them, which directly 'lead' to their downfall........
    Anyway, so, I just discovered the existence of waveguide covers yesterday when it fell apart. Now I'm trying to find a local source for one for our Panasonic NN-SN745S.

    Ha, ha! You're just like a man.. no directions or guidebook needed. Navigate an the fly, 🤷🏼‍♀️.
    The silly things, YES, are in the instruction book. The extension feet stop the microwave from being pushed against the wall, keeps back extension from being damaged, remember ventilation on sides...

    If you would really LOOK into your manual and READ (not just waving around with it), you would see that there is a button AUTO COOK, and on the chart in the maual *1* is OATMEAL, 1 cup or 2 cups - your choice. You should really stick to going on expeditions, reviewing appliances and 'giving people tips' is not your thing, I'm afraid.

      I would say that’s a downside of this microwave. If you need a manual, that feature won’t be used. They’re great for sales (I am an electrical engineer) but those special features are quickly forgotten.

      @@ALinsdau how do you hold motivational speeches if you can't remember a few simple instructions for a microwave? LOL, "...if you need a manual, that feature won't be used". ?!? Just a tip: they industry is selling microwaves with only ONE button/dial for easy operation (time), or TWO buttons/dials (power level and time), they are called "Simple Microwaves for Seniors" (fact). Sorry, could not resist, your response was too funny.

      Not everyone is an "expert" with a photographic memory. You're funny Choppini.

      @@Choppini You come off as a real ass. Very condescending with certain words capped. There are ways to criticize without being a jackass at the same time.
      That being said, why not make every microwave just do what it's suppose to do? Press 1:00, start, microwave starts working. How hard is it for companies to do that? Why do you need a stupid manual to press 1:00 minute?
