- Have you ever wondered what the competition anglers have in those huge tackle boxes? In this video I give a guided tour of my own box and how I have it set out. It covers the contents of the box and the reason that it’s in there. I hope you find it useful.
Brings back great memories Lindsay 🏴🏴🐟🎣😁
Yes it does! One of my early videos.
Thanks for the insight Lindsay.
You are really welcome Simon.
Like your blogs Lindsay, really interesting thanks👌🏻
Thanks Peter, much appreciated.
Hi Lindsay, thank you for all the efforts making these superb videos! Curious how you are using the hats for communication?? I'm guessing to signal team mates in competitions?
Yes that’s right, it can help bring team mates into areas where there are fish.
Wow, that’s some kit that! I have probably 10% of that when fishing but I don’t compete. Interesting video though, cheers
Thanks 👍 You definitely don't need this much gear to go fishing. I only have so many lines because of competition needs.
Always interesting to look through another anglers tackle - thanks for sharing Lindsay! Being an non-comp angler and just getting started (with a limited budget) if you were limited to 4 lines (fishing from an anchored boat), what would you choose? For weight-forward lines what length of head do you recommend? Cheers!
If I was starting over, I would have a 1. Floater 2. Midge Tip 3. DI3 4. DI7 you can get by with these and it would cover most scenarios.
@@lindsayiflyfish Thanks Lindsay! This gives me a short list to work to!
Another good video. Where do you get the foam for your organising inserts and how do you make them so look so professional?
Hi Tom, I had the inserts for the vase designed and made by Andrew Barrowman. He also supplied the box, I simply sent him one of my reels and some other bits and bobs and he squared it all away. You can find him on FB.
Very well put together. Have always used a big black box before. What model of Peli case you using ? thanks in advance.
Thanks Alastair.
@@lindsayiflyfish what size oh peli case you using
What size and type is the Peli box and have you added the foam yourself?
Hi Case, It's the Peli Storm Case 2750. I had it custom made by a chap called Andrew Barrowman, not sure he does it anymore.
That looks super organized.
I currently have ten different fly lines: floater, midge tip, slow glass, Cortland blue, fast glass, di3, di5, di7, di3 sweep and di5 sweep. What other fly lines would you recommend I use? Many thanks, John
Hi John, you seem to have most eventualities covered I would add the DI7 and DI8 comp lines to what you have and if you are feeling flush get the Airflo slow tip.
@@lindsayiflyfish thanks Lindsay. What is the difference between the di7 and di7 comp lines?
@@infinity_reload The DI7 Comp is a longer line which means if you can cast further you can get more depth from a drifting boat.
Superb mate. Where do you get your plastic fly boxes if you don't mind me asking.
I got mine through Andrew Barrowman you can find him on FB Ginge.
Ginge sorry misread this the plastic boxes are Fulling Mill competition boxes Tournament large www.farlows.co.uk/fulling-mill-slim-line-fly-boxes.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI9_T0x4i74gIVCLXtCh13iADFEAQYBSABEgIgz_D_BwE
Hi lindsay how thick is the shadow foam in your box and how do you cut the foam with a Stanley blade or a different method?? Thanks
Sorry Jake, I will carry this over to the next Q&A. Just been shooting tomorrows.
@@lindsayiflyfish thanks lindsay
Very informative video. May I ask what reels you are using?
Hi Slick, Currently Hardy Demon reels and spools. I like the cassette type reels as the spools are very cheap. When you are carrying a lot of different lines it is worth considering.
@@lindsayiflyfish thank you Sir 👍
Hi Lindsay, that was really interesting. I fished competitively up until about 1990 and wow your gear is so much far improved. I have friends who fish competitively and they have their own set ups. One question though, how do you cut out the foam so well for spools, watch etc? Regards
Jim
Hi Jim, the box was a present from my wife. It was custom made for me by a lad in Aberdeen called Andrew Barrowman. I believe it was done with laser cutting tools. He is on FB if you were interested in having one done.
@@lindsayiflyfish Thanks Lindsay for that info … I will see about having foan cut for my spools … take care Jim
@@MrJimmuck Your welcome buddy, I think he does do just the foam if you already have a box.
@@lindsayiflyfish Now Im older and have a bad back I use a smaller box!! so will need custom work … thanks for the fast reply .. Jim
You need to get some RED WIGGLERS, they're the Cadillac of worms
Thanks for sharing
My pleasure
Great video! Love the reel strap holder on the lid. What model pelican?
Hi Case, It's the Peli Storm Case 2750.
No compartment for a flask Lindsay..??
Got another box for my lunch pal, about the same size.....lol.
Hi mate could you tell me what box that is please
Hi Lee, It's the Peli Storm Case 2750.
@@lindsayiflyfish where can I pick one up mate also is there wheels on it?
@@Salmonaddicts No Idea pal, the box was sourced by Andrew Barrowman he was the chap that designed and built the box.
@@lindsayiflyfish ok thanks mate I,ll go have a look
sound has gone bad on several vids ,thought it was my computer at first but isn't
Very old video, I will be going over some of the old ones and deleting them.
The Celtic curse. Factor 50 at least slows the transition from pale blue to white to pale pink to glow in the dark red. Or in extreme case vampire on the surface of the sun charcoal. Seriously the sun reflected off the water sunscreen is as vital as eye protection. On the bank it is bad, ten times worse when in a boat. When a newbie first starts the day even if under a overcast sky. I always council that it makes the difference between a safe and good day. Or? Rather than ending up like a gremlin in a microwave!
Sunstroke is no joke pal.
@@lindsayiflyfish Sunstroke is definitely not to be underestimated. When that light is reflected back off the water. It is almost like the angler is tinder under a magnifying glass. Sunscreen eye protection hat and plenty of fluids. Are must have items. One piece of good news for you. A scientist has successfully merged locust and piranha dna into the highland midge. It has made them soo less ravenous and less annoying lol
@@lindsayiflyfish I have found both yourself and Ronnie on Facebook have sent an invite

What box is that
It’s a Peli Case.
