LEGO City Update - Passenger Train Carriage MOC 60197 🚆🏹

  • The one train I haven't added MOCs to, so far, is my Passenger Train (set 60197). So my first MOC is a double-decker observation / sleeper car inspired by the Metroliner Club Car (set 4547). I've tried to keep this quite different to a similar MOC I did for my High-Speed Passenger Train by using a solid roof and a lower sleeper deck. The aerodynamic shape that characterises the train is maintained, as is the striped colour scheme!

    I've noticed that all lego city passenger trains made before 60337 don't even have doors, which makes me think how people get on and off them

      Well they all used to in the 80s and 90s but then they stopped. It's easy enough to add them.

    Wow you've really outdone yourself Robin, I absolutely love the new sleeper club car! You did a really awesome job using up most of the pieces from the donor car. I give you kudos for planning it out so most of the pieces are used and it really does look swoosh. I love the roof design on this car as well. Now you have the best of both! I don't have this train yet but it's on my list to get and I'll be sure to creat one of these fantastic cars. Thank you for sharing the part numbers for the pieces you mentioned. Another great design!
    I meant to give some tips on your “two” passenger train video, but I never got around to it, so here are some relevant thoughts ...
    1. If you still have the motorized wheels on the rear car, when they are not running, they create a lot of drag. I would replace them with a brick-built design of passive wheels that looks almost the same. This will speed up the train significantly.
    2. in addition, because the new passenger train design looks like the high-speed European trains, I assume it is also a "high speed" train like its predecessor (i.e., your older passenger train). As such, with all those cars you have now (including a hefty 34-long club car), I would make it work with two sets of motorized wheels like your "Beast". This will comfortably give you the "high speed"! :-)

    • @RobinHoodBricks
      @RobinHoodBricks  4 года назад +5

      Oh no, I'd only have dumb wheels on a non powered engine.
      I may add another motor, of required, but I find a PF on a rechargeable battery box on a passenger train is plenty powerful enough!

      @TrainsForNSWVlogs 2 года назад

      A RUclipsr called'Dunkster Bricks', added power function cables through the entire train for his High Speed Passenger Train 2014 and his Horizon Express 2013 so it could have two motors and lights.

    I saw this video a year ago and i checked it many times because i want to build this nice waggon. And now, after watch 1000 times, i hear this just start laughing (14:22): 'all our passengers enjoying their journey through those windows' ... poor people end their lives jumping through the window. 🤔😅🤣

    I had an idea. You can make a bigger modular facade version of the coffee shop and pet shop from lego creator 31097 in the green space that is close to the Palace Cinema because it looks wierd with that green space that has nothing.

    Looks good Robin, it would have been nice to include the white strip all way through. Also have you thought about doing Jacob Boggies for the train.

    • @RobinHoodBricks
      @RobinHoodBricks  4 года назад

      I did the stripe going down on the white train version so I thought I'd break it up here for variety. Of course you could easily amend it to do the continuous stripe here too.
      Jacobs bogies are interesting but they can create a weird gap, in LEGO, where the bigger bogie would've been. This is especially true on these 6x34 bases. Maybe one day!
