  • The Dr checks out how good the DeWalt Hedge trimmer is. Will it stay in apart of his arsenal?

Great video. I've already got 5ah batteries from drills. We pay £130 in sunny (!) England. So much better than petrol / Corded.

Excellent “realistic” review of the DeWalt DCHT820 hedge trimmer. I have ordered the DCHT820P1 and am waiting for it to be delivered. I am on the DeWalt battery platform so this will work nicely for my “homeowner” needs. Most of the reviews show trimming through a lot of different shrubs but don’t really show how well it does on the small detail trimming for shaping and on the heavy 3/4” cuts like you did here. This video shows just how good it trims on the small stuff and whether it would do the job for me when I am shaping small hollies and the like - especially seeing how your blade could really use some attention as far as cleaning and lubrication. Check out a product called “Fluid Film” for cleaning the resins and lubrication.
I considered the Milwaukee Fuel hedge trimmer but couldn’t justify the added cost for my needs and not to mention the added weight as well. If I were using it commercially, I probably would go with the Milwaukee. All things considered, the DeWalt DCHT820P1 is the one for me.

Thanks was trying to decide what hedge trimmer to get for my husband for Christmas and he has a couple other DeWalt tools and hence batteries, but was wondering how well this cut the 1/2" to 3/4" branches. The demo helped me to make a decision.

nice video.. do you have any experience in using the 2ah 18w battery from dewalt on this ? just got a good offer of a used headtrimmer without batteries and charger but i got 2 of the 2ah batteryes for my dewalt drill machine so hoped i maybe just could use those instead of a 4-5ahs.
I would maybe asume its mostly about runtime so maybe more about 25-30min compared to 75min

Good demo. I’ll probably get it but I’ll check out Ryobi first.

That cuts really good for a battery powered trimmer. Looks pretty powerful but light and easy to handle.

So what do you use to trim the thick stuff then ?

I wish I had seen that before buying... I love all my DeWalt tools apart from this single one.
