Part 2 with Aaron. He seems so nice and fun!
Aaron seems super knowledgeable about the area. Exactly the kind of guy you want to take along on an adventure like this.
Can we just APPRECIATE how COOL Arran is, this man be going full on bow and arrow-like style, and he also can cook RAMEN. This guy is a legend.
Bro my mom makes the best ramen
Can wr just appreciate how cool you spell Aaron
Players gonna play haters goona hate
Thanks guys! 😁 Decided to rewatch and read some comments. Glad you guys like what I do!
@@chadlayman2799 Arran is indeed my spelling! 😁
Will happily watch this again! Love these videos
The coral mushrooms that you found are an edible coral mushroom species called Crown-Tipped Coral Mushrooms. They tend to grow directly on dead wood, especially aspen, oak, poplar and willow trees. They are edible and have an earthy, mild, woodsy flavor with a slight peppery aftertaste, but with a word of caution. They can cause gastrointestinal upset in some people, but not often. When trying them for the first time, eat just a little and see how your stomach reacts. There are only two colors of Coral Mushrooms that are edible. Tan, and White. The toxic look-a-likes are bright orange and purple. DO NOT TOUCH THEM! I REPEAT: DO NOT TOUCH THEM! They are HIGHLY poisonous. But, when picking the edible Crown-Tipped Coral Mushrooms, I suggest picking the whitest ones possible because they do brown very quickly once you pick them. I mean, if you enjoy mushy mushrooms, then go for it! I hope this helps!
Man this kind of video is my favorite. I love just getting lost in the forest like this. Can we take a minute to admire and appreciate how scenic this place is? And NOT flooded with trash and empty beer cans? What a concept!
- 2:47 Psilocybe Weraroa, not edible.
- 2:50 Oak-loving Collybia Toxic
- 5:19 Looks like a Vermilion waxcap, edible but not popular or culinary value. Loved for photographers because of its beautiful color! :)
- 22:19 White Coral mushrooms edibles! ;)
- 24:26 Fish was saved by its beauty privilege 🤣

Duuude you need to go fishing with him again he’s amazing
One of the Practices of many Native Americans when hunting or harvesting is to only remove One of Three. So if you see 6 fish in a pool you would only take 2.
Awesome Show guys.
This guy 100% watches anime
lol
Ye you right
No way
Yeah
Because of his voice? 🤣
I could watch this straight even if it's 3 hours long, this is relaxing af. 💖
Dude this spot looks so nice, wish I lived near an area similar, I would go fishing and foraging every day!
Hi guys! Some of the mushrooms you are picking as chanterelles are Not. They are either Chrysomphalina or Hygrophoropsis aurantiaca.
They're not pison though?
yesss 2 vids in an short time wait why is this the same video as last time? did it get taken down?
I think that Arran might be a weeb
100% lol
Next time when u pull out chanterelles do me a favor cut near stem near roots, leave roots in grounds don,t be like them Vietnam people pulling out whole chanterelles and roots, you will not see any more chanterelles.
Wait wasn't this video already uploaded
Yes, RUclips would not allow me to monetize the last one so I'm trying to get around it.
@@acevideos2 RUclips is messed tf up. Must've eaten one of those mushrooms yall passed 😆
That person, Aron's fishing technic is just like south asian, In Bangladesh we catch fish like that and the fishing rod is call "Borshi" in Bangla, and we used to make this rod using thin bamboo and nylon thread. Good to see people from abroad using our traditional fish catching technic
I'm going to have to say this is been the best RUclips video of yours I've seen but somebody who wants to learn Japanese fly fishing does the young lad have his own RUclips
Did you guys happen to notice that fish caught at the 25:35 mark was a tagged fish? When you catch a tagged fish you're supposed to read the info on the tag and report to the local DNR/Conservation Officer where and when you caught it, along with it's size. Helps them with population info and growth rates. BTW, that fly fishing line is braided in the same fashion as a traditional bull whip. It's braided in a series called "plaits". Those are NOT old puffballs. They're actually a species know as "Pigskin" puffballs. And they are toxic. And the "coral" mushrooms are actually edible. And yes, those are/WERE good ones that you tossed away. Except for "Yellow Tipped" and "Jellied Based" corals. and by far the best book I know of and own(and I own many)is the National Audubon Society Field Guide to North American Mushrooms. It actually teaches yoou how to identify mushrooms and their characteristics. BEST mushroom book I own and know of. And words of wisdom...If eggs float in water...they're way beyond their "best by" date and you shouldn't 't eat them. Word to Aaron...Stick with the Kikoman soy sauce and start making your own Chili oil. FAR better than those lousy store bought sauces.
What is Ron with you how do you write so much? And know so much? But the fish was not tagged either.
@@coletrickshooter8516 With age comes wisdom. And I've been foraging for wild mushrooms since I was a child. I grew up doing it with my parents, grandparents and family. And at 57 I'd say I've accumulated a good amount of outdoor knowledge.
I live in the mountains of Southwest Virginia. I love going up the small creeks in these mountains. A ten inch trout is a monster when you fish these tiny creeks. Now these creeks will have some deep pools ever now n then. You have to hunt these fish as well as fish for them . You have to step soft and easy. You must make sure you don't cast a shadow on the water. These fish are used to small animals trying to catch them. Most of the time it's ruff going. Laurels are thick and hard to move in. I go up the mountains sometimes and drop off a ridge and hit the top of the creeks. At the top of these creeks you will catch what we call " Mountain trout" .they really are Brook trout .when you get down low where these little creeks are about to hit the bigger creeks you will start catching rainbow or brown trout. These are the offspring of stocked trout that are put in the bigger trout.its some of the best fishing times I ever had. But beware you will run into things that could hurt you. Bears . Cats and even wild dogs. So have something to protect yourself
Good video but oh my god those little crayfish trying to steal things was so cute why couldnt you just let them go poor things they didnt need to die they were just enjoying their life in their stream just like you guys are yours you could of set them free
chewing tobacco works better on bee stings, speaking from experience.
Aaron needs a RUclips channel. This was amazing ! The experience , I’d love this !!!
you can't tell me this guy doesn't watch anime
for about 8mins i thought i was going crazy and that im either experiencing dejavu or something. im going to watch it again anyway. it was a pretty awesome video the first time. ace it would be great if you picked up a tenkara combo (and sponsorship of course) and have a few more day trips with arran. this type of fishing is something that a major youtuber like yourself could capitalise on. you could get your bro to tag along and me ancient with his 30 year old MREs with the funky pudding
I just found you and really enjoyed the video! You treated the young man with much respect all day and it was really fun to see you gather mushrooms, catch crayfish, and catch trout while trying a new style rod!
Same.
The red mushrooms on the tree are reishi mushrooms. Great for making medicinal tea.
The puff balls you threw away weren't just old....they were poison puffballs....always make sure they are completely white on the inside lol
I believe the coral mushrooms were crown tipped coral mushrooms....but you have to be careful with corals even the good ones cause stomach upset for some people
26:23 Looks to be a Suillus or Bolete, most all are edible and some are very popular.
5:18 A Waxcap, not poisonous to my knowledge but they are not eaten.
1:32 Suillus species, edible.
2:51 Is an Amanita, which is the group that contains the two deadliest mushrooms in North America along with a good amount of quite poisonous and psychedelic and even some that are choice but are rarely eaten because they are hard to ID.
Oh so that is why. Alright, will gladly watch it again
I have never seen anyone cast in such small pools that was awesome
Did u post this twice
I wish I had friends like you guys. All my friends moved on or moved away and I haven't hung out with someone in like 6 years like this.
It's common practice to wear gloves when identifying mushrooms and avoid rubbing your face and eyes. Also you should give the caps a little flick before picking so you can release spores, and hopefully spawn more mushrooms.
No need to wear gloves. It is safe to handle any mushroom.
The trout from these small streams in the mountains are very good. I've had them before while camping up there.
Fun fact: Brook trout arent actually trout. They are in the Char family.
Yup. As are bull trout, lake trout, and many other types of "trout" all char.
we need to see arron again!!
I love your channel! Such a fun guy with great vids keep it up!!!!!!
Ace is such a great guy. The fact he goes fishing with anyone that is truly awesome. What a great guy
I have to say I love the second channel and it’s focus on the long form content and decreased editing, it really is the closest you can come to delivering an accurate experience without live streaming. Keep it up I love it!
Best youtuber out here. Not “best fishing youtuber” Nah BEST RUclipsR OUT HERE!! Keep it up! You never disappoint!
When I go Creek fishing in the mountains I generally don't bring a fishing pole just some string a small hook find a nice 5 ft stick, tie a hook to about 10 ft of line.... Then I find some worms and hike up above the pool and throw it in the creek and let it float down the little waterfalls into the little nicks and crannies underneath the logs and behind the rocks
weeb fishing is wild lol
Damn I thought I was about to watch round 2!
lol same
Wow. I really enjoyed this video. What a Cool Friend you Made out there. I really enjoyed watching his technique for fishing and cooking. Great Video Guys :0)
aaron most def loooks for magic mushrooms
LMAO
He Makes Them Wym Looks
In romania we call puff ball mushrooms
"Beșină de cal" or translated "Horse fart"
Does anyone think that stream could stand the loss of that prime breeding stock? Sickening.
What does that mean?
@@samsung-eh4dv it means that they were fishing a tiny stream with very few fish. Keeping those fish prevents them from breeding in the future. These are wild fish, not stocked. Small fisheries like this can get wiped out out very quickly.
Rubbish, taking only a couple at at time won't have an adverse effect on the amount of fish as the removal of rainbows especially will help the brook trout flourish
Rainbow trout are an introduced,
invasive species in the area they're
fishing.Culling them restores the
ecosyste.
Great video. I’m a fan of mushrooms, fishing and cooking. Only thing id have done different is cut the heads and add them too the soup base. I’m so hungry now!
My boyfriend and I just love your vids. We just throughly enjoy watching them. I actually wait for you to post and get excited when you do. Keep up the good work !
Great grammar
I live in ireland and i need this rod its always wet in here plants grow like crazy, there are so many little creeks that are hard to cast into. Great just great. Can i get a link or a name of it?
tankara
I don't even care that I've already seen it 2 times, I'm watching again
such a gorgeous trail, makes me sad i cant go on it(im an aussie, never been out of the country) because i love tropical foresty areas like that
Humidity can ruin it sometimes. One second your cool, then your being slow cooked alive
@@spacespino2325 yeah, not a big fan of humidity, but if theres a breeze i can manage
When I was young my mom always tell me don't talk to strangers. But If u talk strangers u always learn something new and fun.
Agreed
Well I’m pretty sure that’s just for the kiddos
If you cut the mushrooms and leave the root stock they will grow back. That is why in some places in Europe there are none left.
Just tap the cap a few times
mushrooms grow from spores, they don't grow back from the roots, they are not perennials.
Wah? Your high.
That Orange mushroom @26:31 looks like a Bolete. Most of this species is edible. there are some look-a-likes though. Best to get a spore print. I have been mushroom picking for the better part of 40 years up in Canada on Vancouver Island. Tons of chanterelle up in BC. Those Yellowfoot are too small and delicate for my liking. Lobster. Pine, Chanterelle, Oyster and Morel mushrooms are my go to. Good fishing up here too. Big fish!
Enjoyed your hike in search of micro foods :)
PS: Be careful when looking for puff balls. There are some that will make you wish you never ate them.
PPS: Just caught the end of the video while you cut open that puffball. That is one of the poisonous ones. It is a pigskin puffball. You would get severe gastric upset.
PPPS: never throw all your mushrooms into one bag, especially when you don't know what they are.
This is very good information. Good thing that they threw those puffballs away.
mans glasses did not wanna be there
No problem watching the video again, love it!!
Thank u i thought i could see the future
Arran is such a cool dude. Perfect fishing buddy.
This is one of the best videos i ever watched those mountains are paradise. I wish we had more spots like this that got better each year. We need to praise the Lord for what he has given us and make rational decisions for our future.
OMG!!! Guys you are so inspiring! Must try something similar at my camp place :) Thank you so much! Was enjoying every second of the video! :)
I don't really watch fishing videos all the way tru ..but yall guys have my respect..nice
one of your best videos enjoyed every single bit would love to see more of these in the future 👍🏻
You're one with the forest! Feeding off the land is precious!
Naw I've never seen that type of fishing! Cool!
@acevideos2 this was by far one of your most coolest videos especially making it special having someone guide you and also catch and cook for you! Really amazing and loved watching you guys forge for mushrooms. Also glad you guys didn't run up on that massive yellow jacket nest!
Hope the 🍄🍄🍄s made you see funny things 🤪🤪🤪😵💫😵💫
…..
The chantrel mushrooms use a knife to cut off leave a strem out of the dirt they will regrow again just a hint other then that great video
I rarely ever watch RUclips videos this long but I couldn't look away. Beautiful scenery and food. I'd love to go on an adventure like this
I stepped on a nest of yellow jackets once and got stung 27 times
Ouch
Me too rubbed mud all over my body.
The tobacco trick does work i stepped on a nest in the ground and my cousins put sum dip on the sting and he said it will draw it out and 2 mins later it didnt hurt
This place is exactly what am looking forward spending life embracing nature.
Oh ok i got confused for a second
Just as a bit of feedback this is my favorite video of yours so far. I love going deep in the woods and I love foraging
Hello. Nothing else to say, just Hello.
Hey Ace i caught my limit on rainbows at Salmon damn yesterday and they wanted me to tell you hello. Cheers!! i'm eating Idaho trout with yah right now.
Thanks! Now I have to buy another friggin fishing rod...

Yo ur the dude from Alvin and the chipmunks Ein
not a problem to rewatch, i love your mushroom hunting videos with catch and cooks
The red and orange mushrooms are called lobster mushrooms not poisonous
Why is nobody talking about THE YELLOW JACKETS
this looks like the life of a peaceful man. fishing for meat, getting mushrooms for added nutrients, staying curious while learning and exploring in the outdoors in its natural wonders and beauty. super nice!
hey ace, i know you wont read this but, why havent you do a colab with other guys such as fisherman life, outdoor chef live, or other floridian fisherman??? why you not doing a colaboration with other youtuber?
Fishermanslife would be a mint collab
Didn’t you already post this?
U lokey loke like johnny sins
I'm just gonna tell you...I've never sat though 46 minutes of video and been so happy about it...I love this guy
Ace!! When are u going crabbing again in Oregon!? I’ve been wanting to go and make a trip! Any advice where to stay and go?!
I've seen a lot of people have luck at Barview jetty. Lots of camping areas or hotels around too. You can also fish for rockfish if you don't mind getting snagged every other cast lol.
9.20 definitely not a chanterelle
That was so different than anything I have seen on RUclips. Awesome! Definitely subscribed.
Thank you so much,
Ms Pat from southern Indiana 🌹
The old mountain people used a fly rod ,like a cane pole. Tiny streams are my favorite places to fish. The first trout I ever caught was a little speckled trout, in the Smokies. Above 4000 ft. I have found many bees, mostly yellow jackets in trout. Those panther martins are very good. Black or brown rooter tails are also excellent. It is much better to never touch a trout you are putting back. Use pliers, hold eye of hook and flick it off over the water. Anyway, great video!
Those were some slow crawdads..I had this method where I'd slowly remove the rock and place a net behind him and scare him from the front with free hand. They swim backwards so they'd always end up in my net.
bring the book next time, no need to pick shrooms that you arent going to use. let them live
the spores spread, did you not watch the video? he threw them back
That shelf mushroom that was like a glossy red color is called a reishi mushroom
When I was a kid we fished like that. Only our streams were very narrow but deep. We where taught to sneak up on the stream very slowly and quietly. Without looking over the edge we would then slowly lower a leaf worm on a small hook into the water.
The instant the worm touched the water....it was fish on.
It was like hunting fish.
Those were great days in Wanakena NY.
I didn’t even realize I watched this full 45 minute video. Great movie bro
