I live in Thailand, and I have a few chances to try agarwood oils. Yes, the commercial brands you mentioned don't smell like real oud.

Thank u for this video. I thought I was out of my mind when I bought multiple perfumes and they all smelled like burnt chemical rubber, like their quality had deteriorated. The common problem was that they all had oud in it. Weird because I used to love Oud Wood and had it since I was 17 but I didn't think it smelled bad, ever.

There are actually many. Arabia Oud, Al Eiz Oud, Abdul Samad Al Kurashi, Sikat Altiyb, Rasasi and others. These are all Arabic brands as you may notice. As original Oud is really important in the Arabic peninsula. But the prices of Oud oil are really expensive. It is sold in grams.

Is it possible that it smells very sour? I bought perfume with first note agarwood and spices and just can't stand it 👀 trying to figure out if it is because of agarwood or maybe rose in the middle note. Makes me physically sick want to wash it out

    • @YaYa-ke1zr

Yes it can smell sour. But most large distillers seem to know tricks to avoid the sour smell (or they know how to make it only last for short time).
Out of the 25 or so ouds I’ve tested, only 2 had a sour note.

There is a difference in barnyard and skanky smell
Barnyard smell is the best smell a nose can feel , the more darker it gets ,the more luxurious it feels
Buy expensive oud and they will smell barnyard , buy low category oud and they will smell skanky like wet cow dung .
