Thank u for this video. I thought I was out of my mind when I bought multiple perfumes and they all smelled like burnt chemical rubber, like their quality had deteriorated. The common problem was that they all had oud in it. Weird because I used to love Oud Wood and had it since I was 17 but I didn't think it smelled bad, ever.
There are actually many. Arabia Oud, Al Eiz Oud, Abdul Samad Al Kurashi, Sikat Altiyb, Rasasi and others. These are all Arabic brands as you may notice. As original Oud is really important in the Arabic peninsula. But the prices of Oud oil are really expensive. It is sold in grams.
How about Swiss Arabia? Some of their oils reminds me of the Oud incense they sold when I went to Saudi Arabia which by the way properly introduce me to Oud. Like 2009
hi i am from ph. im not really aware about this things so it makes me curious becouse i pick a very old dead trunk of tree and i almost burn it all but the smell its so differnt so fregrant what i did i keep it untill now but i dont know what it is so can you help me identifie this thank you
ASAQ Perfumes are unique, not like generic western Perfumes, and have quite a closer representation of oud. If you are able to try a perfume from their house, I would recommend smelling ASAQ Black Incense.
Well, I was on a fragrance website/blogosphere and a person posed the question: “What fragrance should I buy that really attracts females?” The most popular answer, from a guy, BTW: “ANYTHING with Oud in it.”
Is it possible that it smells very sour? I bought perfume with first note agarwood and spices and just can't stand it 👀 trying to figure out if it is because of agarwood or maybe rose in the middle note. Makes me physically sick want to wash it out
Yes it can smell sour. But most large distillers seem to know tricks to avoid the sour smell (or they know how to make it only last for short time). Out of the 25 or so ouds I’ve tested, only 2 had a sour note.

It's difficult to tell, but most of them contain artificial oud, you'd have to do some proper research behind it. However it would definitely be pricey.
Areej Le Dore, check the channel of Exotic Scents, he knows a lot about oud, reviews attars, oils, perfumes, and also travels to the middle east, visits perfumers etc. He has an interview with Areej Le Dore where they talk a lot about natural ingredients.
So it seems to me - Starting an AGARWOOD tree farm at a young age would be a smart move...
I live in Thailand, and I have a few chances to try agarwood oils. Yes, the commercial brands you mentioned don't smell like real oud.
I absolutely love the barnyard smell of oud! Yes it's expensive but you don't need a lot.
Oud is just as good as its Quality and Mastery of the Master perfumers in Oud

Hi, that was a good talk on the origin of OUD, very useful.
Thank you, I appreciate the feedback!
also Feel-oud is a great one as well.
Excellent video and exactly what I was searching for 👍🏻
Amazing! Nicely explained!
Great video
Thanks for the info. Very good job. Lol. It's a funky smell that synthetic oud. I too scrubbed it off my arm.
But due to its popularity... synthetic oud must surely be on the rise especially when one thinks of the mass quantities of oud perfumes...

How do women react to oud? I find that I really enjoy the scent but I don't think it has mass appeal. Thoughts?

so...it is more humane that we settle for the non-authentic oud...!
