My favourite RPG series - they have important to mention key features which are not advertised or written on any informational material across almost everyone of the games. You may read about it in tutorial messages, but those are very long and barely anyone i know actually read all of them. You can explore the world in the pace that you like, you can interact with lots of people, explore lots of regions that slowly unlock throughout the game by hearing about them from NPCs or finding maps. There is one crucial limit tho - playtime. You see a clock and calendar on the screen at all times, and everytime you do something that takes the character some time to do ingame - like crafting from complex receips or sleeping you see the clock move. There is no real UI indication of the "deadline", but if you follow all the conversations carefully, NPCs will eventually tell you. So don't ever skip conversations you've not seen yet. For example in the Arland Trilogy this mechanic is used in tests, where your main character has to undergo one or several alchemy exams for example. The only exception i know of is Atelier Sophie, that's the only game where you could literally play a whole lifetime and still progress the story at your own pace. It's also the best looking of them all on the PS Vita, in my opinion. The lineup ends with Atelier Sophie on PS Vita, only PS4 and PC have Firis and the newest one - Lydie and Suelle. Lydie and Suelle is also available on Nintendo Switch and i'm very positive that Switch gets a new one once its released and also might get older Trilogies. How well you do in those tests, with whom you speak, what quests you solve and how fast you are also determines which ending you will get. Normally there are three endings - failure or neutral ending, good ending and special ending. So in really harsh games you can actually fail after a whole playthrough, basically a bad ending and have to either have an old save or start over. If you are satisfied with your ending you can continue playing in some of the games and go for different optional bosses spread throughout the lands. They also have New Game Plus, which is indicated by a change of the background artwork of the start menu once you beat the game with one of the endings being played out and credits had rolled. A new feature of the newest Trilogy - the Mysterious Trilogy - is that there are also hidden regions to unlock within a region by either walking up to something that looks suspiciously out of place or just being there at a certain time of day. Time of day also plays a role, night and day have different monster types and items on most of the maps. As you might see, i just love these games. x3 In my opinion with Mysterious Trilogy now concluded they are ready for the biggest Atelier game yet, enough people know of it now that this could very well be "Gust's Monster Hunter World" with millions sold at release while previously being more of a niche franchise.

I don't know about Atelier Irises (there are three Atelier Iris games), but Mana Khemia games (there are two) are very story-based games, although the alchemy system is no less exciting.
About Mana Khemia, though, while there's no time management Atelier Annie (and the rest of normal Atelier games, I presume) has, it's about academic life of alchemy students (or students that happened to use alchemy) rather than manage the shop etc, they have to perform good to achieve good result

I appreciate your effort to explain the game franchise to newcomers. All the information in this video is stuff that I found through a Google search. Rather than factual stuff, I am more interested in a comparison of the gameplay systems like the alchemy system and how it plays differently between each game. Also, compare combat and story in the games, as well. "I like this one" doesn't tell me anything because I don't know what kind of gamer you are compared to myself. It's best to present the information on the story, alchemy and combat from each game and let the viewer decide which they like. I'm also curious about the time mechanic in these games. How does it affect the gameplay? I know the time limit is removed from Atelier Shallie but it is present in the first two games of the trilogy so Atelier Shallie might be a better place to start for gamers who find time limits to be frustrating. Talk about the differences between the PS3 and "plus" versions like what content is included because from what I read, more content was added to Atelier Shallie Plus than was added to previous games. Please also inform viewers about which games are available in physical format and which region because for Vita users, only Atelier Shallie Plus is available physically and that may be a selling point for the game even though it's third in a series. Knowing the order of the games is helpful but I need more info on the gameplay. Thanks for your video and sorry for the long post!

I was brought here from Gust's upcoming JRPG based on the manga/anime Fairy Tail, which has the same basic gameplay mechanics, as far as I know. Since Fairy Tail has plenty of fans of its own, I'm sure more people will be exposed to Gust's other works.
In case you don't know, Fairy Tail is a fantasy series about guilds of wizards who fight monsters, catch criminals, and go on adventures for a living. The Fairy Tail guild is home to the strongest, rowdiest, and friendliest wizards in the kingdom, but midway through the series, a certain disaster flings our heroes seven years into the future, where they find that their guild has fallen from grace during their absence. This is where the game's story picks up, with the object of the game being to rebuild Fairy Tail's reputation by accepting missions and climbing the ranks until you're the kingdom's number one guild once more.
If the game turns out to be as good as any of these, then I suppose I could recommend anyone who's a fan of either Fairy Tail or Atelier to check it out.

The post game in mana khemia is quite tough and I even heard that the dlc of escha and logy has the toughest boss in the series. I've also started Iris because I wanted to try the older ones; really good so far! My least favorite has to be Totori. Hi Ircha, nice vids and im glad you actually like the series too. If i can put my opinion in, for someone who is new to the game, I would say to not go for Sophie because there is not time limit. I know it sounded wierd because its easier for the new players but at one point I was actually bored at sophie because i can just do anything I want without worrying about the time.. the time actually keeps me in track on what to do in game. I would really recommend to actually go with Escha&Logy for PS3/VITA and Mana Khemia for PS2.

And as a console rpg collector i love that there are a bunch of games in this series to seek out. My question is: As a 36 yr old straight male dude who really loves rpg's and really loves the art style that I am seeing, is this series too "girlie" and/or too boring meaning like a lack of a good story? Is it more of a kids game and/or was the target audience females? I don't mind girlie but I don't want to play a game that is very boring. Thanks and keep up the good work as always!

I've played Atelier Iris 1,2,3 // mana khemia 1,2 for the playstation 2 and atelier annie for the nintendo ds. I've only played totori and own atelier sophie. I really didn't care for the ps3 version of atelier because of the time dilation of the story, where you'd have to make a certain item in a certain amount of days while trying to see all the available cutscenes and exploring all new dungeons in that time allotted. Atelier Sophie was a little lenient on the time between item creations and letting the main character get to know the other characters that you get to fight and explore alongside.

You should really give Meruru a try I think it is the most enjoyable Arland game even if you do the missables, I didn't really spent a tedious amount of time making boats or constantly doing S rank requests (like the previous games). At least I did find some enjoyment in it, but my favorite ones are still Mana Khemia 1-2, Dusk, and Mysterious. Also Rorona Plus does actually have a physical PS3 copy in English, but it is a little bit glitchy, it shouldn't effect endings though. I played Rorona Plus probably the most since it just takes longer to do for 100%, but Meruru Plus was more enjoyable imo for having more traditional RPG elements.

My favorite Atelier game is escha and Logy i started playing them because it reminded me a little bit of Fullmetal Alchemist how they use alchemy in that that's why I started playing it

I just bought the mysterious dx trilogy for switch and can't wait to play next week. I ordered the Rorona ps3 trilogy from gamestop before vivid and got an empty box and they didn't have anymore copies. I got a refund but it was so disappointing. I've played all of the ps3 games and love them and plan to own them for switch eventually.

i have played Atelier Rorona and i think is to slow but i have also played Atelier Iris and it was amazing. I wish to play some Atelier like Iris, with a theme not to "silly". Do you recomend some?

I know this video is fairly old now, but I just had to say I'm pretty sure the name is "At-el-i'er" which is a french word. It is a "Private workshop or studio of a professional artist in the fine or decorative arts". The Japanese love to use foreign words, especially ones they don't quite understand for things... Which is true of a lot of cultures honestly.

You have a nice voice. Where are you from? I started at mana khemia. Meruru was so fun. Escha and logy is part of my soul. Never played shallie... never beat ayesha. Playing Sophie atm... thinking about going back and getting shallie plus... since my boy logy is in it now lol

They added new dlc like playable characters and costumes etc.. pretty sure harder bosses too. I beat totori, meruru, eschalogy (prolly my fav... the characters are so damn cool and i'm a sucker for sappy love stories)

No, there's a NA version. i believe there were 3 atelier games released for the DS, but only atelier annie was released for the West. atelier.wikia.com/wiki/Atelier_Annie:_Alchemists_of_Sera_Island

ayesha is my favorite 3d atelier too but the whole dusk trilogy is awesome.. i think mysterious is big step backwards sadly. the plus games mainly add dlc and new stuff except rorona plus which is more of a remake and make a lot of things better (similar to hyperdimension neptunia 1 and rebirth). can only recommend the gust ps2 games (atelier iris 1-3, mana khemia 1+2).. also from gust but not from the atelier series is ar tonelico 1-3 and ar nosurge which are their best games imo (more sci-fi story with deep world building and also synthesis system.. less deep but every synthesis shows a talk event.. most of them are really funny)

I started with Ryza. Never beat it because I loved the game from the beginning and I felt like I was doing myself a disservice not playing the earlier games. So I managed to nab the mysterious and dusk trilogies, but I cant find out if there is another trilogy on the ps4 or not

Did they ever release physical copies of all the remasters on PS Vita? The only one I found is Atelier Shallie and I haven't played it yet because it's supposed to be the 3rd game in the Dusk series. I could buy digital but I still prefer physical

Ircha Gaming if you enjoyed Ayesha you will enjoy Logy and Shallie since the dusk trilogy is really good. Firis being the middle game of mysterious trilogy seems to of hot it's stride in what there doing this time

I dont know, but when i play first atelier series (rorona) is so different with atelier iris 1&2 on ps2 which similar to mana khemia. Kind of boring and 3d environment is not too awesome.
