- Product video showcasing the Super Dumpmaster truck produced in the early 1960's by Dempster Brothers.
With the popularity of the front load system and increasing distance to disposal sites, Dempster customers had spent the last 20 years investing in the Dumpster system of single haul containers which was quickly becoming untenable to sustain.
Showcased here is how the Dempster engineers designed a workaround for all the legacy Dumpster containers in use to be serviced by a front load unit. However, according to Dempster family members, the concept was a disaster and it became cheaper to simply replace the containers themselves.
This video is amazing as it shows a White 3000 Super Dumpmaster emptying gigantic 10 and 12 yard Dumpster containers into the truck. If you look at the hopper opening, it takes up half the length of the body to accommodate the huge containers.
These videos were uncovered by Bill Dempster, great nephew of George Dempster. Many thanks to Bill for allowing me to share these amazing videos which haven't been seen in over 50 years.
Holy crap! I didn't know front loaders had been around for so long, and to see footage of the original ones is just incredible. Crazy how the overall design really hasn't changed over the years either.
When things work efficiently you don't change it sir
Could this be the all-time greatest video? Classic trucks, Eastman color, White and IHC cabovers and even a cigar-smoking trash truck driver (this was, of course, required of drivers in the 1960s). Until seeing it on film, I don't think I ever realized how massive the Super DM was. Can you believe the size of that hopper opening?! Also, the modified Dumpsters are almost half as big as the body.
Love these old videos.
A 12 yard container. No way man, that is some scary shit right there.
I’ve picked up a 10 yard dumpster it’s scary stuff man
Wow these are some amazing dinosaurs in this video
There is a metal recycler west of Atlanta that still uses the drop floor dumpster system. These old videos are awesome brother. Thanks again for sharing them!
Damn Zachary. Just damn. This is so cool. Quite possibly the quickest 13 minutes of my entire life
these videos are unreal, thanks man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fascinating 😎
Awsome Video 👍🇨🇦😎
nice a grate historical meaning to the refuse industry
That’s fun to watch
Those are horrifyingly large bins.
Check out the overall height at 8:09 JEEEZZZ!!!
Garbage man with a cigar… classic! 😂
Damn. I wouldn't pick up that 12yd bin if it had anything heavier than styrofoam peanuts in it.
Nice
Sorta reminiscent of the ancient driver's ed films.
Mesh guards? Back when they cared about it.
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
The front end already looks over weight as a front loader driver of 29 years it would of been awesome if I got to drive n operate these amazing front loaders .
WHITE TRUCK WAS A.TECHNOLOGICAL JUGGERNAUT!
They had one white 3000 c/0 that self drove itself-it came with an optional life sized drivers head with cigar / this head rig fit into the drivers window, slightly leaning out!
(it Even had a long fake, hairy arm, the hand & knuckles dragging on ashphalt.
There was even a scary prototype head with a lit cigar / it had a tape recorder in it- in a.loud tinny voice it would contnuosly say 'hey mac-" or
" getouttadahway yah jagoff"
Also had the option to "wolf whistle" if a female with baby carriage was picked up on the sensors in dashboard,
It never became popular and was canned
Dumpster brothers is more like it.
Doesn’t look quick to me lol
