Recently bought a 2ds followed by an R4 card. Some emulators fail on the big games, such as Starfox on SNES and Cave Story on Genesis. The Speccy emulator is great and you can map non joystick games to the dpad or slider controls. However save slots wouldn't work on reboot. Meanwhile the C64 emulator just wasn't cutting it.
Yes. The R4 card pretends to be a game. So the DS just thinks its starting a game which then takes control of the system. Take it back out and you're back to a normal DS.
So I randomly found your video. I first did all this by my self. The R4 I bought came installed with a bunch of things. I placed in Twilight Menu and all fine however the gba games never worked. So I got pissed. But maybe I need the bios for it? I will try that out. I also hated how it took so long to boot the NDS games I did not know it was on the first try. I completely disliked Twilight Menu. But I will give it another go.
So i need to ask something, i am buying a ds lite on AliExpress, so i really want Tomodachi collection so much, im buying for Tomodachi collection actually. so what can i do, i am afraid if i bought it its not modded and i have no idea how that works thank you anyway
hi i tried this on my DS lite and followed all the steps but when i put the card into my ds the game instantly starts but is stuck on a loading screen forever
It sounds like the software doesn't match your card. If you're using the same card as mine, including the same year stamp, it should work. Otherwise work through the software archive to identify the correct one. It's a pain.
so you have to find all these roms and place them all in manually? im really dumb with tech and like holy molyyyy this shits so complicated, all versionssss. so do you have to find all these games somehow and manually put them in? i presume hshop doesnt work for ds ds lite?
Unfortunately yes. The game backup files aren't hard to get hold off and it's just a bit of file copying. Once you've done it a couple of times it's just repeating the same process.
I modded my DSi XL, no flashcart needed. I did get the EZ-Flash Parallel for my DS Lite but it still has a bug that games won't sleep when you close the lid. They are working on it
@@jg2722 The game is still running. The system doesn't go to sleep. Its been so long, I just use 2DS XL or 3DS. I check the EZ-Flash website every so offten, no update after all this time, almost a year this has been an issue. I recommend the Junior or the Omega DE but stay away from their Parallel.
40 minutes of review and no mention of dsone cart lol, its objectively better for ds-lites. Comparing R4, these are the killer must have features of dsone, 1) Those have in-game brightness control which is a must for ds lite since you can't do that originally. 2) Also, dsone cart automatically skips the health menu without touching the screen or pressing any buttons. (Not the same as auto boot, that still requires you to manually press buttons to skip health buttons)

Yes. Some of the emulators work better than others.
What if i have a 16 gb sd card ? What do i do after i press FAT32? do i have to do the mini tool?
If you're on Windows the normal formatting tool will work for FAT32. Just set the cluster size to default. No need for anything else.
So the card will work straight away no fiddling with the DS?

@@BytesNBits the mini tool feels like an extra step that isnt needed

Yes, please do. It's not a perfect launcher but I think it's one of the best.

If you buy the exact R4 card in the video just follow along with what I do. It's really just copying files onto an SD card.
@BytesNBits thank you so much ! i saved your vid for that special day

Twillight menu on a flashcard. I can´t use L+down+select to exit. Is there an another way?
If you're playing a DS game I think you need to reset the console. Otherwise the key combo should work.
@@BytesNBits it works on a modded Dsi with Twilligt menu, but not twilligt menu on flashcard. I think Ace3ds+ is better for the R4.

I haven't used that card. Hopefully they'll update it soon.
What you mean? The music or sound is still playing while the ds is closed ?

Thanks for the tips. I'll have to have a look at those.
